And so?? It must be in USA, because where I live - in Denmark it's not at all so. BTW, what has this to do with our game?
Well I was only saying that because someone said about using moodlets for the sims that do/don't go to church. If you read Cinbar's post then you would see what I mean. So I was just pointing out that there are people that are religous but they don't go to church anymore because some of churches have too much politics involved. And that there are people that will watch shows like Joel Osteen on Sunday mornings to get their sermons.
I myself do believe in God, but I don't go to church. So therefore I don't want EA to shove religion in my face if they were to put it in the game which they will not rather it is fake or real. To many people will have a fit. But I do agree that if they put a podium and a soap box in the store for the ones that what to have churches in the game then that would be fine.
If they were to put a podium in the store then they could have it done so that when you go to click on it, it would give you options for the use of it. For example: poetry, speech, annoucement or sermon. Sermons don't have to really mean a church sermon, but people can use their imagination. Just my opinion.
I just had another idea of what to do with a podium - stick one outside the school, along with plenty of seating, and you can have a sim give a speech on graduation day when everyone finishes in the rabbithole. It'd be good for storytelling, at least. You could have valedictorian student sims speak, for instance.
^^ really like this idea

What does the word "obscure" mean here? Is it something like witches?

That's a good idea. Then the simmers can use it up to their own imagination like mangoesandlimes said below

Or set one in front of the city hall where the sims do the protest and let your sim give the speech about how good or bad the major/leader is or other things . So it can be used both for religious purpose and non-religious purpose.

Not well-known and/or religion with a small following. Like zoroastrianism or something like that. EA wouldn't make a house of worship specifically for each small religion, but a podium would, more or less, allow people from small religions to make their own house of worship.

It's not something I personally would care for in The Sims, but it's something a lot of (ridiculous and over sensitive) people get very touchy about. So I guess EA never included it for that reason, really.

The podium seems more neutral and useful to me. If you had a house of worship rabbithole - or even several - they'd only cover a handful of religions. If you've got a church, a synagogue, and a mosque-looking HoW rabbithole, people looking for Buddhist or Hindu or Wiccan or a different style of Christian building will feel left out. If there's a podium object and a nice set of stained glass and other build mode objects, then people can build their own houses of worship in whatever style they prefer. Everything from full-on-Gothic cathedral to very geometric mosques would be possible with the right objects and the podium. And then you get to actually watch your sims gather and give or listen to a sermon or speech. It'd be much more interactive than a rabbithole and even simmers with really obscure religions could feel included.
I'm sorry, but it is this type of reasoning that really irritates me. First: These buildings would be a *free* downloadable object. Second, the buildings can be neutral enough that you can name the building whatever you wanted to. For example, if EA names the building "HOW # 1", HOW # 2, etc (HOW = House of Worship), when the building is installed in the game, it can be renamed "The First Llamatarian Church", or whatever name the player desires. As long as these buildings are built with broad brush strokes, there's really no reason for anyone to object...unless, of course, people just want to kick up a fuss just to kick up a fuss.
I have always maintained that if EA ever *did* do something like that, there might be a fuss, but in the long run, the players who object to this would be exposing themselves for the intolerant persons that they really are because of the fact that EA will not force anyone to download the buildings. In other words, they're not essential to gameplay; they're just extras for people who want them. So, although I propose the podium as an acceptable compromise (and yet, people *still* object to the idea behind it), I also don't see any problem with a rabbithole House of Worship.
And really, this business of "If you include one, then you have to include all" doesn't fly, because SimCity and SimCity Societies have churches or church like buildings in them, and no one objects to that. At least in The Sims 3, it wouldn't count for anything because it's just an extra downloadable object...pretty much like the Christmas tree, menorah, and Kwaanza candle set. You'll notice that there are no objects related to Islam. But I have yet to hear anyone complain. So, no, you *don't* have to include every religion. Just make a generic downloadable building that can be used as a house of worship, let the player name it what they want, and there you have it.

it better if ea choose the name because players might named it something bad

I like the podium idea. It was used in TSM and works very well for that time period.
I also like the idea of downloadable Churches/or any other building etc. I am of Faith and don't like witches and Occult things in my game...however, I think I might be a little more tolerant of things like that (that are against my faith) than those that have none at all.
But as I said before I think the Sims should have their 'own' religion because they aren't people they are "Sims".
For those that don't want any time of Sim worship in the game, then just don't download the object. How many times have we heard something like that? As for me, if I dont' want to play witches in my game, I simply ignore it.

How is it being intolerant to want a podium object that would cover a wider spectrum of religions and secular uses, too? I'm not upset about the idea of introducing any religion into the game - I just lean towards an object that would work in a number of different spaces, whether they're Christian, Muslim, etc. Like the rabbitholes, it would also be up to the player to download it or not. Unlike the rabbitholes, players would be able to see what their sims are doing during the service and get a more fulfilling gaming experience than just having their sims disappear for a while.
And Jarsie, I have seen people object to the lack of things for Muslim sims - the WA forum has had requests for hijabs, since WA included Egypt but somehow left out that big part of their typical clothing. I personally do get annoyed at the lack of stuff in the holiday downloads for other religions. People throw fits over not having free things for Easter, but those same people don't seem to notice that there's nothing specifically for Muslims yet. Where's the bowl of dates for Iftar and the decorative lanterns during Ramadan? And that's not even a small religious group - there are way more followers than Judaism, and yet we have a Menorah. I don't play Sim City, so I don't know what the fandom is or isn't upset about.
It just seems obvious to me - the option that allows for more uses and broader gameplay is the better option. The podium allows that. You can say that three rabbitholes in the store would cover it, but I'm having a hard time imagining a rabbithole that manages to look like a church, a mosque, and a Shinto shrine, all at the same time. At most, it would be the most generic building in the world. More likely, the rabbitholes would look like Christian churches and non-Christians would be told to get over themselves and pretend. The Sims has a global fanbase - catering to diverse needs is something the developers have to do.

And after all this, It seems obvious to me, that sims ought to have totally their own religion or kind of worshipping. No specific buildings, because we can build usselves, but something like figures - and please no rabbitholes!! We have enough already. I still suggest them to be able to worship a big llama animal figure, a big Will Wright figure and a special Nature figure. It would be nice, if they could get married in order to the figure they choose to worship.

I'd be ok with that, too. We could use more sculptures and other art objects.
