So what I have heard so far you can't have CC In your game and WA at the same time?
At first I thought it was that you just had to remove it while you install WA, and then put it back in after.
But instead it sounds like you can only have one or the other, not both!
I was so excited about getting this game, I had seen some new videos and had decided that I would get it after all.
I had been thinking that I wouldn't, not until the price went down, then I changed my mind because of the video's.
But now I'm really afraid to get it, I don't want to lose my CC, or my Mods.
We never had this problem with The Sims 2, not even a little bit.
They are doing this so we will only buy from their store, there's no doubt in my mind that's what their doing.
They did it with these patches, now with the game too.
I can't believe their that greedy.
What has made The Sims so fun for people is the CC community, but now their trying to push them out.
It makes no sense, I mean I knew they were greedy, but this is taking it too far!
I am just going to keep my $40 bucks and wait and see if things change.
I wont even get any of the patches because of this sneaky S their doing.
Now if someone here can tell me I am wrong with proof of this, meaning tell me I can put my CC back in after installing.
Then maybe I will take the chance, but til then I am not getting it.
I just got my game working perfect, and I am not going to mess with it now.
It turned out every problem I was having had to do with the EA Download Manager, and Nvidia's bad driver.
And I fixed that, by un-installing EA DM, and installing Nvidia's Beta Driver, in case anyone was wondering.
Also I found out why I couldn't Upload anything, it was because I normally surf the web using Firefox instead of Explorer, it was my default.
But as it turned out, all I needed to do was switch defaults, and then I had no problem.
Also I was having problems installing Sims stuff that was in the Launcher, it would stick, and I would keep having to start over, and keep doing it over and over again til finally it would install.
That was caused by the EA Download Manager too, now its gone, no problem at all.
So I really don't want to mess with it now, not when its being good.
Also if one of you reading this who is having problems can tell me if you have the EA Download Manager installed on their computer!
Because if you do, that could be some of your problem, and its not needed unless your downloading games from EA, it has nothing to do with The Sims 3 stuff.
Its useless otherwise.
I know this is a long post, but I figured I would bring up the stuff about fixing my game here rather then starting a new post.
And I thought I might help someone else here.
I know I have gotten most of my help, right here from other players, I haven't really gotten any help from EA.
anyway if I am wrong, and we can have our CC and Mods and have WA, then someone please tell me.
Also let me know if any of you who don't have any patches are having any problems, or not.

Update!

I have removed all my CC and Mods, and got the new patch 1.7 just a few days ago,and its working fine, for the most part.

I realized with the help of some of you right here that I was wrong, its not EA's fault the CC wont work, its that the CC makers have to update their stuff.

The reason I didn't delete what I had said is because it would have confused anyone reading the replies, and I hate when people do that.

So I want to apologize to EA and the Sims makers for saying things that were not true, and blaming them for something that was not their fault.

And there does seem to be some bugs in the patch, but most I can over look right now, and they have already been brought up in other post, so I don't see why I should do it here.

Chill out - this is the first EP of the Sims 3. There is obviously some mistake and they will fix it... I wasn't expecting this to be perfect....

I think what is needed now is patience.

well then it won't bother me if thats the case because I hate the CC. it screws with your game and personally I think that if you can't play the game the way it was when you bought it then you shouldn't play it at all..I mean everything is customizable, just make ur own crap. I do and I love it way better than all the cc i've seen.
I have the patch installed and have absolutely no problemsa at all.. my fiance is thinking about getting me WA for christmas but I don't think I want it because to me it just sounds like an over glorified Bon Voyage remake...and I totally HATED Bon Voyage.
well I hope everyone figures out their problems and can resume having fun!!
P.S. if Ea's goal is to ban cc, I won't be upset..I am all for it I hate not being able to download someones sim because it has some ugly looking custom hair that will inevitably make my game unplayable..no thank you. i'll just spend an hour an make something wayy better.
and sorry if I offended anyone or seemed harsh about my approach on the CC matter, but really is having CC in your game really that big of a deal? will you die without it? I don't think so.

Um.... If they were trying to 'push out' CC - why didn't they simply make the game so CC could NOT be created??

EA are not trying to push out CC. Imagine it like this.... You are trying to lay a building (World Adventures) on some flat land (the Sims 3 base game) But there are so lumps on the flat land (Mods, CC, add-ons, etc.) The building doesn't work properly becuase it can't be placed properly on the flat land. If you think about it - World Adventures is trying to latch to the base game but it can't becuase other things are their that it isn't expecting..... Like CC.

If EA didn't want CC they wouldn't make the game compatible with it.

yes you are right..EA did make the game compatible with CC, but like with any game installing cc or even worse, mods is very risky and if your brave enough to attempt doing so and praying it will not ruin your game..then by all means..do it.

I'm just a smarter one and I wont take any risks. I worked hard for the money I spent on this game plus the items I bought from the store. I am not gonna throw it all away on some silly Cc or mod.

and actually you painted quite an amusing picture there with that description..I visualized someone attempting to build a house on mt.Rushmore..Lol it was quite amusing! thank you for that laugh!

What's with the chill out stuff?
I wasn't saying anything crazy, I was just saying I am going to wait before buying the game.
Why do some people on here always have to act like someone's over reacting just because they don't praise everything EA does?
It's silly, to say the least.
Do you really think they wouldn't do what I said about the bit of making it where we can't use any CC, so we have to get their store stuff?
I think its kinda strange how both the patches and now the game keeps us from being able to have CC in our game.
Its no mistake, and its not a glitch, its something they are doing to make more money.
I am not trying to be rude or mean, I am just stating a fact.
I would just like to see someone prove that they are not doing that.
But manly I would like someone to prove to me they are able to put their CC back in after installing WA, without it messing the game up.
If it turns out we can put the CC back in after installing WA, then I will change my mind about this.
But until then I will think what I want to think.
I am 23 years old, and I work for my money, and I don't use credit cards or have my Mommy or someone else around to pay for a game or anything else I want.
So when they expect us to pay $40 bucks for a EP, I expect it wont make me have to remove other things from my game to use it.
When those other things is what makes my game fun to play in the first place.
That's allot of money to pay for something that is going to live me with less then what I had, instead of adding to what I already have.
I don't expect it to have no problems, but what I have heard is unacceptable.
Its like they just through this thing together and through it out here for us to buy, without bothering to make sure it was bug free.
A few glitches is one thing, but people not being able to save their game, Sims and houses disappearing, even stuff in WA disappearing after first using them.
That's not normal glitches, that's just carelessness on the part of EA, and the Sims makers.
They just want that money now!
But what they don't seem to realize is people wont buy it when they find out from other players that it is not working right.
I yes I am upset, why shouldn't be, why shouldn't anyone, it our money, some of us work for our money, no one gives us the money buy these games.
And not everyone uses credit cards to buy everything, I don't even own one, because their nothing but trouble.
I figure if I don't have the money for something right now, I'll wait and save for it.
It makes more sense.
Now can someone say something about how the game is going for them, instead of taking up for EA or asking me to come down or something?
Again I am not trying to be rude or mean, I just want to stay on the point of this post.
Which is to get some answers, and maybe a little help one understanding what is really going on with all these problems people are reporting.
So please be nice!

Well if EA do not want people to be able to have CC ingame WHY do EA openly endorse and advertise CC sites on here.
They know full well that the CC creators have helped make the sims what it is today.
Also think back to the Camp they had before the release of the base game , which was in the main attended by creators from sim sites who actively created CC for the sims and they welcomed the fact that CC creators would be working out how to make CC that could be used in the game.
I hope that people can quickly work out how to have CC and mods with WA as without it i will soon give up playing as i hate the hairstyles and fashion that EA have put in the game

I have no problem with anyone not liking CC, that's your choice.
I don't have anything really big, just clothes and hair and new skin.
But my main problem is if their not doing it on purpose for some greedy reason, then why is it we never had this problem with The Sims 2?
And anyway, they have always known how the Sim community loves CC, so of course their not going to tell us they are not going to change it this time.
And they may have decided on this only after they had released the Base game, and decided to put it in the patches.
And then the EP, for those like me who didn't get any of the patches.
Maybe I am wrong, but maybe I'm not.
If one of the Sim people would make a statement saying they are not and explaining why our CC wont work with a patch or now WA, and also how to fix it so it will, then I will change my mind.
But until they do I will keep think as I do, that they are trying to push out the CC makers.
And yes it is true I could be SMART as you put it, and not have any CC in my game, but then it wouldn't have a heck of allot to it.
And I am not going to stop playing it, I paid $70 bucks for the so called Special Edition one, not playing it at all would be like throwing that money out the window.
And trying to sale it to someone else would be useless, because I could get even half of what I paid for it.
The CC makes it worth it a little more, and it isn't messing my game up ether.
As I said I fixed all my problems by un-installing EA download manager and getting the right Nvidia driver, that beta one they put out work's great.
I have been playing my game for 3 days strait with no problems.
And before it would mess up in some way every time I tried to play.
So it was never my CC.
Like I said I don't have allot anyways, nothing that changes the land, or anything big in the game.
Just little stuff, like hair and clothes, and some objects, and skin or course.
Oh and I have all the store stuff too, but I still like having my CC, they still don't have enough good hair in the game for me.
And I do agree some of the CC hair is stupid, especially the ones from TSR, and other pay sites.
The best one's are Mod the Sims.
Anyway no hard feelings if you don't like CC, I am glad for you that you can enjoy the game without them.
I guess I am just a little picky, and just can't be satisfied with whats already there, LOL.

From this point on, you always need to back up your game before patching
or adding a new EP. You Do need to remove all hacks, mods & CC before you
install. Most hacks & mods are not going to work until the modder updated
them to the patch or EP, just as with previous versions of the Sims games.

As for CC, there is an issue with a lot of it because there is no universal
tool to make it & some of it is simply cloned garbage, that will eventually
mess up your game. EA knows player are not going to give up CC, but it is
so early in the series there are not a lot of really good CC modders yet.

So to answer your guestion, if you don't want to give up your mods, or risk
some CC will not work, then do not patch or install WA yet. Wait for the modders
to catch up. The CC will have to be added a few items at a time to see if
it will still work now.

It is not surprising that CC conflicts with updates. Everything is more complicated than in previous games and so is likely to have problems.

Updates always knock out mods, and then they get updated. The CC people will work out the kinks, patience is the key.

BTW. It's really annoying to have to scroll 20 times to read a post

This is precisely the case. CC causing issues is in no way an attempt to push out the CC community, it is rather a side effect of changes being made in the game via updates to address users' issues.

What has confused me is awhile back I removed all my CC and Mods and put in the patch, and I still couldn't play my my game.

It wouldn't even load, it would try, but then it would crash.

And yes what you said does make sense, You see you explained it just like I was wanting someone to.

I now realize I was wrong, and its the CC makers fault that I cant use it with the patches or most likely WA, sense I still don't have it.

Maybe I will get it, and just remove my CC until they do update the CC on their site.

That way I will be able to have WA.

Who knows maybe some will work.

Thanks for really answering me, and doing it nicely I might add.

To be completely honest it is the custom content that has me completely addicted to sims. If it goes I would have to stop playing. I love making, downloading, and using cc. It is almost live free shopping!!!
