World Adventures: Bug List (please post DxDiag)

FYI: SimGuru_BGY_11 responded in this thread requesting that people keep the reports to glitches and problems as well as DxDiag info (directions)

Since we don't have very good means of reporting bugs back to EA, I'm dumping my list into this forum. I didn't have any problems with the base game, but a few items are popping up now.

I have the base game, plus World Adventures installed with about half a dozen of the free items from the store installed. No mods or third party content. No patch.

The bugs so far:

Quick Save Not Working
The ubiquitous "Error 16" pops up when I try to "save" or "save as" over a file. Edit: After installing the patch, this error is much less frequent, but still occurs on occasion.

Delay Feeding Omni Plant
When I click feed, game play continues, but I have to wait 20 - 30 secs for the list of feedable items pops up.

Can't Choose Bait on Vacation
My Sims can "fish", but not choose bait. The action just cancels out. Edit: This inability to fish with bait continued when my Sims returned home. However, someone in another thread suggested trying to invite a foreign visitor over. I tried this and it didn't seem to help. But, the next day when I when I started the game up, my Sims could fish with bait. They have been able to do so ever since then. The only residual problem that I can see is that one of the Sim's "fish with" option doesn't hold the last bait item in memory.

Food Goes Bad Too Quickly
When I put prepared dishes in the refrigerator, they're bad in just a few hours instead of in a few days. Replacing the refrigerator does not correct the problem.

After Installing the Patch

Since I didn't get an answer in my other thread about whether or not to install the patch, I decided to go ahead. Now, the game crashes when I switch characters. So, the game has gone from somewhat buggy pre-patch, to completely unplayable post-patch.

I tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling without the patch. Unfortunately, EA has built in some code that forces you to install the patch for Sims 3 (1.7) before installing the expansion pack. I tried playing the game with Sims 3, patch 1.7, and WA installed. I had the same crashing problem.

I went ahead and reinstalled the WA patch 2.2 thinking maybe it would work this time. Same problem. Game crashes when switching characters.

I thought maybe the problem was that I had saved while on vacation, so I went back to try playing from a previous save in Sunset Valley. The game worked for an hour!!! Then, crashed when I went to save. I tried again a couple of times. Now, even from the neighborhood save, the game crashes when I switch characters.

I didn't do anything to my computer, but the game isn't crashing when switching characters anymore, so my bug list continues:

Aging Reset
The age bar resets to beginning of the age range. I'm not sure of the trigger.

Blank Skill Journal Page
Two of my Sims have a completely blank skill journal page for the handiness skill. I think it is disappearing when they reach level 10 of the handiness skill. I just noticed I also can't access the journal by clicking on the icon next to the handiness skill bar once the journal page has gone blank. I have to access the journal from another skill and then select the handiness tab once the journal is already open.

11/27/2009:

Endless Painting
My Sims no longer break from the action when they are done with a painting. They continue to paint until the action is manually canceled from the cue even though they are finished with the painting. Edit: As someone later in this thread points out, this seems to happen when I've had them take a break from painting and continue later, but not if they paint an entire painting straight through.

12/1/2009:

Can't Make Unusual Nectars
One of my Sims keeps getting desires to make nectars with unusual items such as garlic, eggs, and bell peppers. She's at skill level 10 and still can't add anything but fruits to the nectar machine. Edit: This happens with all of my Sims now.

12/6/2009:

Nectar Combination Count Resets on Vacation
I don't know if it's because my Sim is on vacation and/or using a different nectar machine, but prior to vacation she had made 16 types of nectar. Now the count reads 3. She had also reached the level of Mix Master and now that achievement is grayed out and she can no longer predict the value of various combinations. When she returned home, her nectar combination count had reset again.

12/8/2009:

Buy/Build Mode Not Available on Vacation
When my Sims buy vacation homes, the build/buy modes are not available until I exit and reload the game. The icons are no longer grayed out and I can click and select them, however, game play stays in live mode.

Wonky Personal Inventory

I tried to transfer a few heads of garlic one by one from my Sim with 63 heads to my Sim with none so she could fertilize the garden. The second garlic I tried to transfer didn't take and snapped back to the original possessor. However, the first head I transferred disappeared from my second Sim's inventory and NONE of the 63 heads appear in the first Sim's inventory. When I try to get the first Sim to fertilize plants, garlic comes up as one of the items available with which to fertilize. But, when I click on the garlic, the action simply cancels out. Edit: Problem corrected on returning from vacation; 63 garlics reappeared in inventory.

When I try to transfer individual food items to the refrigerator, they don't all take. The refrigerator lights up as if that is where they are going to be placed, but they are rejected and spit out to the counter next to the fridge. I try to pick them up and place them in the fridge from the counter, but it doesn't work. They keep popping back on the counter. The work around is to put the item back in inventory and then transfer it to the fridge.
This occurs in a vacation home built entirely on the diagonal.

A serious error has occurred while loading 'Sunset_Valley_PATCH10.sim3'. It is strongly recommended that you restart the application.

12/28/09:

Vizard of Vine Not Registering
My Sim has used many more than 400 bunches of grapes to make nectar, yet he's not getting credited as a Vizard or getting the bonus. I think the nectar making machines need an overhaul.

The quick save does work. Unless of course you did not install the newest update that fixes this. I'd be willing to bet you didn't even check the front page when you came here. They posted that yesterday and totally fixes that problem.

Also I have no problem with choosing bait or feeding the omni plant - there is no hesitation for me, so that could be just a problem with your game.

I do agree with the food thing though.

So far the only problem's i have is not being able to interact with the Martial Arts items in China. I can direct my sim to go to it, but then she just jumps back, and the npc do the same also.

Ooh, I don't have problems with martial arts, but that reminds me of that awful "jump bug" when talking in Sims 2 that took them forever to fix. Ahh, good times.

Things just go from bad to worse with these patches.

This is my list of bugs for WA:

1. Upgrading the fortune cookie machine damages the Handiness skill record page. It seems there is also no message of the cookie machine after being upgraded.

2. Bugs (beetles and butterflies) of WA are invisible. Probably generated below ground, there is no icon change when moving over designated area. Collection helper shows location but nothing is there.

3. WA damages charisma "comedian" challenge makes record revert back to zero.

4. Certificates for the 3 new WA skills does not show correct image. All certificates are for handiness skill.

5. Missing shop keepers in France. Bookstore and Restaurant shop keepers are missing from the game.

6. Game crashes when saving on home base neighborhood. But will save okay with foreign countries.

7. Some relationship/genealogy ties are broken once converted from base game to WA. Broken genealogy sims are deleted by the game and missing even if sim is already dead and buried.

Those are some big bugs, Ace.

I got my game to play without crashing when I switched characters yesterday, but then when I went to save, I still got "error 16" despite having the 2.2 patch installed. I used the "save as" workaround and that worked.

I also encountered another problem, or compounded problem with fishing. With one of my Sims that was able to fish with certain baits I tried switching to the Tancho Koi, and it wouldn't switch. I removed the previous plum bait from the Sim's inventory and now he can't fish at all. The fish menu never even comes up anymore.

- Certain tabs only appear for a split second when clicked, including: the "Change Material Category" tab in Create-a-Style and the "Party Type" and "Dress Code" tabs in Party Planner. Obstructs ability to customize or throw parties.
- Occasionally get error code 13 when attempting to save. The game will crash when attempting to save a second time.
- Choppy animation and camera movement compared to 1.4.6 gameplay, sometimes to the point of obstructing gameplay.

HUGE ISSUES
- When returning from vacation, certain family members are no longer related to the family in any way, shape, or form.
- Can't Change Active Household to households containing certain Sims; the game will get stuck on the map screen with no UI.
- Game locks up at "processing" when attempting to merge or split households containing the aforementioned Sims.

I've reinstalled the base game and patched it to 1.4.6 for the time being. Gonna return World Adventures to the store if EA doesn't respond to our concerns this week. I can wait for a fix as long as they promise us one, but if they're gonna give us the silent treatment while we beta test their heavily flawed release, I kind of just want my $40 back.

My list is small compared to some. (Maybe because I'b scared to try the new features in WA for tha sake of my game freezing.)

x- Food goes bad fast while in fridge. (Common)
xx- My game freezes completely whenever I try to view the neighbourhood/zoom out. This is really frustrating as you can only do so much viewing the current household.
xxx- My game freezes when a Sim goes into labour.
xxxx- My game freezes when a Sim works out on the stereo.
xxxxx- My game may freeze when changing a song on the stereo.

These freezes mean I have to manually restart my computer and load the game again. I no longer crash to desktop, but the freezes are worse! At least with a CTD I didn't have to restart my computer...

So far I only saw one glitch, but a glitch that really annoys me. The mirror or dresser glitch :each time you get your sim to program new outfits or new hair, the age resets and that is annoying cause they don't age unless you play with only one hair or a bunch of clothes and never change....

One Minor issue - I can only play about 5 of the songs on the pop channel of the in-game stereo, all of the others are unavailable including the new songs.

The main issues I've had are the lots disappearing being replaced by blue squares, and the error cod 16, which gets fixed in the last patch...

Yeah, I hear what you're saying. Unfortunately, it's Thanksgiving week and I would bet that staffing is low and not too much will be done until after the holiday.

Orjix, those issues are huge if they lock up your system so that you have to reboot. I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems to that extent.

Poshbakerloo, are you saying that you haven't installed the latest patch yet?

After an entire weekend of trying to blend WA with some custom objects/mesh I finally got it to play although the rendering is really slow even with my high spec graphics card..(eventually i didn't put in the patches because they seemed to make the game run even worse!

..after going into France, I tried to do the second adventure concerning Landgraab Library and the whole lot went black. Somehow the rest of the town rendered back to normal after leaving the lot.

then my sim returned home and the lots are blue or black. finally got IT to render but now the streets have gone blurry (!)

I find this expansion pack really frustrating and pointless to play.I hope they can fix these problems soon or else it's another uninstall I'm afraid.
