How do you know who's homeless or not? Can you just not find them? I might have to check out the NRaas Computer, but I've never worked with a mod before....

idk how to find out whether sims are homeless or not without it, but i have the nraas super computer and you can check out those stats in the demographics section of the menu. just be warned that it IS NOT pg-13 and im referring to the new traits it adds to the game....but if that doesn't bother you then the new traits are hilarious lol

Most kind of you. Thanks.

In newer versions, you can also access the interactions via the City Hall, or on the sims themselves.

Cheers.

I have not added it because I'm trying to be my own NRaas Not So Super Computer for the town, while I wait for the expansion.

And yes, strangely, deleting headstones has improved the story progression (population control) in my game, but it is definitely not a cure for all that ails it.

Oh, and I didn't answer the second part of your question. The mod lets you centrally control the town's population and statistics. You can see how many babysitter, maids, pizza guys, firemen, etc there are and how many homeless residents are in town. You will know how old your residents are and allow you to manage marriages and career progress. In essence, it allows you to force story progression. You access it from the computers in the game.

Many thanks! I'm very interested in managing the town. I do feel the game makes too many Sims.

I'll check it out.

My sims keep disappearing! I create a sim and he/she will move out and become homeless. I follow them and they just disappear into an empty lot or go to a community lot and never come out or come out and go back in over and over again. How do I fix this?

I found that by having the kids and teens make new friends every day at school, I was able to have enough people to max charisma. I threw parties and invited them to the house rather than try to run into them downtown. Bosses and co-workers just don't generate enough Sims on their own to keep the town alive.

Also, with the 1.7.9 patch, I have noticed that even with story progression off, the other Sims age and die. So, I don't see a reason to have story progression turned on.

I figured it out! I was able to get back control over two of my sims who "disappeared" by having another sim befriend them and move them in to the house. I then split the household. When sims are randomly evicted they become homeless living on the streets. You can get them back if someone befriends them and eventually moves them in. I think I am figuring this game out. You really need to create several sims and fill the city/town if you want to play the game "properly" or as it was intended. IMHO.

I absolutely love the sims! However, I'm having a hard time adjusting to the story progression. In my first neighborhood I made a cute couple...had a kid...decided to try a new couple with different jobs etc. After enjoying the start of three households a couple of sim days each, I went back to my first family and WHOA my kid was a teenager and every faucet in the house was spewing water!!!!!!!!!!!! And let me tell you with out my (HA HA) omniscient supervision that teenager was worst kind of little jerk. I missed everything, toddler and childhood. This dynamic neighborhood is hard to adjust to because I want some variety of household but I don't want to miss key milestones in my families. I'm currently trying to have just one family in different neighborhoods, but then they can't be friends with each other.

Is anyone else having this adjustment issue? Has anyone found a way to deal with this better than I? Surely I'm missing something here, but I kind of want my sims 2 back. Love the graphics and everything about the sims 3...but can't get in the groove of this timeline.

Story progression is THE worst feature of sims 3 it means you are bound to one family in one house per town. The beauty of being able to pause and flick between families was that if you got bored or ran out of ideas for your family you could come back to it later and play another family you have made. what is the point of going to great lenghts to make a few families if they are all dead by the time you get back to them, its is always good to see how interactions affect two famileis too, soap opera stylee.
Also if you can only play one family it takes the fun out of building if you cant put anyone in the house so you can only build one home too! The new game is TOO real and if real life was so great we wouldnt need the sims, yes?
The new graphics are great but kind of pointless if you dont get to use them much, it has become more of a platform and lost the charm of being able to create your own town where you decide how it all goes. There are many platforms but nothing like the sims 1 and 2 so I wont be wasting anymore money on 3 expansions. Sorry guys but SO let down by 3

Absolutely hysterical and true. But I remember having a hard time with my sims old and ugly then dieing in Sims 2. This is something I got used and eventually took it as part of the game. Hopefully I can get used to this version as well.

I think it could be easier if you could adjust aging and story progression for each sim family you make.
So that you can turn off aging on one sim family and turn on the aging of the sim family you are playing.
But you can also have all the NPC sims still age or not.

Story progression seems to have deleted a guy that fathered a daughter of mine that isn't mine.. In other words, a China girl became mine somehow (listed in friends panel) and the donor is MIA.. I think the game deleted him.. One other simmer has a sim accidentally married to the same guy and can't divorce him..

I recently turned off story progression and hope to see this fixed as my sim didn't want extra kids nor relationships with unknown sims..

http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/143757.page (all about my new daughter and the school glitch happening to her)

I sure hope they get this fixed soon... Driving me batty..

lol.. I have no idea why they do that but I think the lots (public) reset around 3am sim time.. even if you are in the middle of eating..

Does turning story progression off mean that nothing will change in your active household if u change to another family within the same game?

I was wondering if anything has been done to make Story Progression better snce the new Expansion Pack was released. I lost interest in Sims 3 quite a while back based solely on the lack of control of my families, and I don't want to buy anything else if there hasn't been changes.

Thanks for any info!
