As I briefly babbled about in one of my previous threads, I was concerned with others taking my neighborhood and uploading it under their own alias.
Then it hit me - with C-A-W I don't have to worry, really, about losing ownership of my creation. Since we can create and use our own textures for the world, you can easily make a "tag" signing your name to your work.
This is a real garish example:
http://llnw.thesims3.com/sims3_asset/sims3_asset/media/528/979/ 002/00/screenshot_original.jpg
Realistically you'd want it not be so obvious and you'd want to integrate your "signature" into the surrounding terrain - trust me, I can see that from the other side of the village.
But it's an idea for those of you who want to "sign" your works. While, true, others may "take it" and upload it claiming it as their works, your signature makes it undeniably yours.

But what if they edit the world and remove it?

Exported worlds (which are different .world files from the saved world projects) can't be opened with CAW tool.
I liked the idea. Could use it as an easter egg in the world

Yes, when you share a world it is exported and bundled into a ".package" that cannot be edited in C-A-W, so if you use your signature was terrain paint in a non-lot area (i.e. on a mountain or riverbed) it cannot be removed or obscured.

Good thinking; so i guess the real question is, how do we go about making letters for our signatures w/ the paint a terrain?

Good suggestion! But, a simpler method would be to name one street after yourself. I believe the address of a lot can't be changed except for in CAW, so that would work too

I saw someone before make their name out of little islands off the coast, so there's another idea too.
I will definitely do one of these to "mark" my world, I'm just not sure what I want to do.

In my first world I tried naming streets to sort of "sign" my creation - but it really seemed distracting, so I changed it.
I suggest using a basic paint program, make a simple 256x256 image - I'd suggest borrowing one of the basic ground paints - like grass or pavement or mountain - make a new copy of it (so you don't overwrite the original) and toss your signature on there and find a place in your world to put it where it won't be obtrusive but still "findable."

I typed my name on the height map I loaded for my world. I make my height maps on photoshop so it's pretty easy. But you can add your name using any image program that can save .png

I don`t know if it would be any use whatsoever but I would advertise my world just before releasing it on the exchange, a post on the forums announcing your world`s release. It might not stop any unsavoury types from claiming it to be their own but when the push comes to shove at least you could refer to the thread announcing your world`s release and it would show you ` got there first`. You could then name names (if you find your world under someone else`s name), it probably won`t stop attention seekers from claiming your world is actually theirs but at least you will have proof it is...or something like that?
I HATE it when people claim stuff as their own and it isn`t....I just HATE it!

How would that work? It's the lot that gets named not the street. It's easy to go into edit town and change the names of all the lots, I do it with EA's all the time. I doubt the CAW worlds will be any different as it's the same tool.
I also wouldn't download a world with someone's initials carved out in the hills.
The only way to protect your world is to upload it, the date of the upload is on there, then if someone else uploads the world after you, their date of upload will show. Unless someone can prove they uploaded it first, then it's a free for all.

It's a good idea, thou I like to sign the uploaded picture, It's tricky to remove a uploaded pic in a packed sim file.
