i installed it correctly and it still crashed my game.
sorry yours crashed, could you have another mod in game that maybe it is conflicting with?
Yahtzami it will override the mohawk, so you can't have both.
nope no other mods.

You might try waiting a couple of days though. The modder may figure out the issue and patch the mod to work with the new version of the game.

*sigh* Mine crashed, too. It is installed correctly. I'm disappointed because I was going to use that hair on my legacy founder. Oh well, no biggie.
Now about the crashing - it will let you into the game, it will let you make the character (in CAS it appears as the mohawk). It will let you move that character into the house, but when your screen gets to far away from the character (zooming out) it crashes. It didnt screw up my game or anything, I just went and moved that character back out after reloading the game, deleted her. Left the game, deleted the folder I put it in, went back on and made a new character - no problems. So, I wouldn't be afraid to atleast try the hair, its easy to get rid of if you do have a problem.

I'm, personally, having zero problems after removing it. Played for 2 hours after deleting the file with no crashes.
...perhaps those people didnt delete the character with the bad hair and just deleted the file? I dunno, just a guess. If the game doesn't have hair to load on to the character, I could see how it would crash.

OK...so I moved the folders to where they are supposed to be...had my sim go to the mirror to change appearance and clicked on the mohawk. The Peggy Hair was there. All went well until I sent my Sim to work. When she was finished working, I had set it for her to go to the bookstore after. When I tried to zoom across town to find her, my game cut off and took me back to my desk top. I opened it up again, and this time, did not put that hair on my sim and everything is fine. I guess I need to go ahead and delete it from my game.
Hey...look on the bright side, at least someone was able to create a decent hair that the game will recognize! That is definitely a step in the right direction!!

Hi all, I spoke with our Hair SimGuru (NOT HairyGuru ) and here are some possible explainations for why this mod/hair might be causing crashes and other unstability.
First off, this appears to be a Sims 2 asset that was converted to Sims 3. Due to performance reasons we're restricted to a certain amount of Vertices per hair, this hair mod exceeds that number. So for lower end computers, it can lead to slow down and cause instability like crashes and game freezing.
Secondly, it does not appear to have proper level of detail (LOD)settings therefore, when you zoom out to town view it will likely crash your game. Lastly, please be aware there is added risk when downloading and installing a mod into Sims 3.

First let me start by saying, it's nice to see an official reply to a post here on a mod issue... From what people had been saying it sounded like it was a LOD and vertices issue.. since it wasn't a consistent crash but it's nice to have an official word on that..
HOWEVER (ya had to know there was a however.. )... This brings me to some very important (at least to me, and most likely others) questions:
1) When will we get some tools, or even some help from EAmaxis to be able to build true custom content for TS3, that doesn't require trial and error?
2) There was always added risk when adding custom content into The Sims series of games, however, contrary to what Delphy and some other Mod people in The Sims community say, it does seem that TS 3 is less mod friendly than TS 2 or even TS 1 was. After all we were able to mod just about anyhting with TS 2, yet it seems that most of the code that's important for some of the more popular TS 2 mods, was buried in compiled C# code libraries.. Why was that?
3) When will some tools for making new clothing (and Mesh combo's), Hair's, or any other ingame assets, akin to bodyshop be released (if at all)? Or is it going to be up to the talented people in the community to decipher your esoteric file formats, to build tools of our own? I know TSR and others are working on object building tools, and already multiple pattern making tools are out there (something that should have shipped with the game), and I've hear rumors that a neighborhood creator from EAmaxis would be releasd, what's the story on that?
Frankly, for a series that has made so much money due to the custom creations of the community, TS3 seems to have tried to limit it to "Let's make it harder to make content for The Sims 3, so people have to buy it from the store"... And I'd hope that EAmaxis realizes that it was places like Mod the Sims 2, that helped to keep interest in TS2 high, and supporting true custom content, not point and click recoloring is what will make TS 3 and any other future releases so popular.

if i had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. and contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. you see?

I never had any problems until I downloaded the hair. After I downloaded it my game crashed. I deleted it, and so far, so good. I would not reccomend downloading the hair, at least until this problem is fixed.
On another note:
devi skrev:i think the peggy hair is ugly
Agreed, actually. I'm usually really picky about downloading only the best CC. The hair is ok, but the main attraction for me was just the fact that it was a new mesh. I'm not crying about the fact that I can't have it in my game. The hairs I like the best are the ones that fit in with the whole 'look' of the sims... the ones that just seem simmish. lol
