The following seemed to work for me...

The saved games are in ~\documents\Electronic Arts. I renamed the folder (just changed the first character to an underscore) and then loaded up Sims 3. This worked fine. The game then creates a new 'Electronic Arts' folder so I quit the game, deleted that new folder and renamed the old one back to it's original state. That seemed to do the job!

Hope that's a help.

Can anyone explain that again, because I'm really frustrated that I can't upload. I have to go to Document> TS3> Saved sims then what? A clarification would be nice and this is on a iMac.
It will fix this problem right?

Whoever created this thread obviously deleted my old thread containing the same problem.

This is really annoying as I'm creating prettier Sims and Households and I can't upload them (errrrrrrrrr)

Oh yup you can't have people posting 77 threads about one topic, it's snoozeville.

Nope, just removed the 'do you wish to debug' message. It still said exception raised and closed the stupid launcher down.
Well, I guess people won't see my floating house with curved bridge and swimmable pond for ages.

Just wanted to post this info on what happened to me, not sure if it will help but this is what I did and it fixed it...

I got the same error on two different occasions. Both times I did nothing to try to fix it (because I had no clue what was wrong). All I did was take the cd out, put it back in then tried to start the game a couple times. I then reset my computer with the cd in, then tried to start The Sims 3 through the shortcut (alias) on my desktop. It gave me the exception raised error about 4 times before it finally opened the launcher and let me play the game. I looked into this the first time it happened and what I understood was that you can get this error when you are using an authorized copy of The Sims 3. This makes no sense to me, since I bought it.

I tried to contact EA Games through email about a previous concern (not being able to download items and install them through the launcher) but they were no help. Their answer had nothing to do with my question, so I didn't bother to try to contact them for help with this. If I find any solid solutions I will be sure to post them. I know what happened to me was probably a fluke but if it somehow worked for me it might for you! Good luck.

I just came across this info http://easims.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/easims.cfg/php/enduser/std_a
dp.php?p_sid=ppfPBgHj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_faqid=22
234#mac
from the support part of this site.

It mentions to try to disconnect ipods/iphones from your computer among other things. I am charging it right now and I did notice that when I got the error to debug and clicked "yes" my iphone would disconnect and reconnect about 6 times before deciding what the heck it wanted to do. Anyways, might want to consider this option. I can't remember if I was charging my phone the first time I got the error but I know for sure that it was plugged in and that it affected my phone somehow.

Just something else to consider...

This worked great!! I was getting the error message when I was trying to launch the application and was completely unable to launch any aspect of the game. Your method seems to work-- sounds like something screwy with the cider package.

Anyway, to clear up some confusion. To do what lidlings suggested, you should replace the E in Electronic Arts with an underscore, it should read \documents\_lectronic Arts

then you copy your saves folder to the new Electronics Art folder which will download.

Good luck everybody!

Try This

Please try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it under a different MAC admin account.
1) Delete The Sims 3 icon from your Applications folder.
2) Delete the additional files can found in /Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences/The Sims 3 Preferences/p_drive, including your saved games.

Creating a new user account:
1) Click on the Apple Menu select System Preferences.
2) From the View menu, select Accounts.
3) You may need to click the Padlock icon to allow changes.
4) Click the + icon to create a new account.
5) Log into the new user account and reinstall the game.

see if this works for ya.
