Well, actually, it's not quite that simple, for me at least.

As they say, ignorance is a bliss. And by that I mean back in the TS2 days I, for example, had no idea there was CC, or Sims related forums, and I didn't follow any kind of Sims news. Practically, I just lived in my own happy place with the game, oblivious to the whole simming community out there. Now that I know all that, it's impossible to go back. For one, it's become a routine for me to check Sims related news daily, and obviously they're mostly about TS3. Secondly, my playing nowadays is pretty much fueled by these forums. If I stop coming here, I don't feel like playing my game either. And third, I've become totally addicted to mods & CC. Now that I've pretty much caught up with them for TS3, it'd be too much of a pain to start over with TS2. And even though I did love playing it without CC back then, again, ignorance is a bliss. So, to sum it up, for me, there's no going back, but the days of TS2 will forever remain a warm, fuzzy memory. Sorry for such a long post, haha.

One of the few things that would make Sims 2 bearable for me is the CC, to be honest but there's so much about it that I wouldn't be able to stand anymore. I still have all my disks, every one of them, and was tempted to reinstall then I thought 'why'? But, really, the people who say how much better Sims 2 is and how much they miss it should go play it for awhile.

The Sims 2 Sims were more realistic in how they acted. I actually cared about my Sims in Sims 2. Plus I had tons and tons of Mods and CC in Sims 2 that made it incredibly fun to play.

The Sims in Sims 2 did such funny things that made me laugh out loud. The nannys alone were hilarious.

The only drawback is no open neighborhood.

In Sims 3 the Sims seem like they are robots with no feelings. Everything they do seems unreal and nothing seems spontaneous or funny or charming. I love creating Sims in Sims 3 as they can look so fantastic but I had some pretty nice looking Sims in Sims 2 too.

I would play for hours and hours in Sims 2 and now if I play more than an hour in Sims 3 or even more than once in a week it is surprising.

I never played Sims 1 or 2. After I bought Sims 3 in 2009, I bought and loaded Sims 2 so I could see the difference. I went back to Sims 3 right away.

While I did like the furniture better in the base game of Sims 2, I did not find it as intuitive as 3 and the graphics were certainly not as smooth.

I understand the frustration, but I think - if anything - there was a lot learned from the issues with sims 3. Hopefully the next generation (Sims 4) will be a major knock out since they know full well what is loved about 3 and what is missed about 2.

I used to love playing Sims 2. I was actually able to run it with all EPs/SP's and tons of CC/mods and wouldn't lag, which is one thing that made it more fun at times than Sims 3 is. The problem is, I'm too used to playing in an open neighborhood, like many others. It can get rather annoying playing S2 for awhile on the same family and having your neighbors and the NPCs still be..exactly the same as they were as the "founder" of your family was.

Even if S2 were to somehow have open neighborhood put into it, I doubt I'd be able to ever go back because I've became so used to the looks of everything in S3 and all of the creations I've done.

You and I must be playing two different games.

Yeah, that's what I did. I reinstalled it a while ago and tried playing it a bit, but it just wasn't the same anymore, for reasons I mentioned in my previous post.

And true, the amount of CC for TS2 is just.. overwhelming. Especially if you'd have to start from scratch this late in the game.

I did reinstall it and I play it still. I even have created some new Sims. They are still just as funny and fun to play as they were so I guess that statement doesn't apply to me.

This might be a bit of an unpopular opinion haha;

But when the sims first came out, I was a super big fan of it. I would spend 9+ hours playing sims 1, it was a lot of fun. And when the sims 2 was announced I was super excited. I have Base game, university, nightlife, and bon voyage. (I also had open for business and pets but I lost them) But no matter how many mods, cc, anything I would install I could never get into the sims 2 like I did 1. It felt a little too much of the same. It wasn't until sims 3 in 2009 did I really feel my love for the original series return.

But that's just my opinion I sort of always felt like the sims 2 was sims 1 with enhanced graphics, it wasn't until 3 did I really feel renewed in my fandom for it.

You come on a Sims 3 forum, and make a post entitled: "I miss my Sims 2 "

And you expect people to agree with you all the way that the Sims 2 is a better game? I don't see anyone getting snappy over this either. People are just saying that they don't necessarily miss it. What's wrong with that?

Good for you that you're reinstalling your games. Have fun with that. I've got the Sims 2 installed in my grandson's computer, but I never play it, and neither does he, really, because he's only 4 years old and the gameplay is too hard for him. The Sims 3 is much easier for both of us.

But, seriously, if you weren't prepared for disagreement, why did you make this post on a Sims 3 forum?

Sims 3 is much more of a challenge to me, so NO, I don't miss sims 2. Besides all the packages are standing here on my shelf, and I can just install them, if I want to.

What's the big deal about posting about Sims 2? I don't see anyone getting angry or anything. I think it's a fun topic and get to hear how other people feel about the different games.

Whether you love Sims 1, 2, or 3 what difference does it make?

It's just to express your opinion about what you may like about one and not another. How does that make people mad?

I guess I just thought it was a fun thread and I enjoyed reading what people liked and didn't like.

Ikr, so annoying. I loved the Sims 2 WAY better than TS3. That is my opinion. I don't understand why people need to get all bit.chy about it...

What? I say that TS2 is better, and I still play it. Just because you post on TS3 forums declaring how much you like TS2 doesn't mean you don't play it.

It's actually quite funny - the people who complain about people who post about TS2 on these forums. The moderators don't have a problem with it, so why should ye? TS2 topics have been posted here since 2009, and the only problem they've caused are from people giving out to them for posting the topic. The only people getting mad are the people who are giving out about the topic in the first place.

Oh, and you can like both games, y'know.

I like them both..each has is highlights and low lights lol. I found TS2 abit more quirky (is that the rite word?)....but after playing Ts3....its all about freedom...like somebody said afew posts up...they still play...but its hard (espcially after playin Ts3) to be confined to one lot, and move no further than you front garden, without sitting and looking at loading screens. I do find the Ts2 gameplay more demanding, but also rewarding....like it or not with all its bells and whistles removed Ts3 is abit watered down.

What I did like about Ts2 was when I got a stuff or exp pack (yes I have them all ) was that I felt I got value for my money with regards to added gameplay and objects. It may just be me, but except for one or two trump cards each new Ts3 exp pack has....it pretty much bare bones......and all the good stuff is sitting in the store. Thats probaly my biggest gripe towards TS3...yet I moan....but have dld most of the store anyway...

Ironic eh?
