Having same annoying issue, tried clearing the caches, uninstalling downloads, moving them back, etc. nothing so far.
I got a message for a store downloads update just now, so I installed that, now installing everything (AGAIN)
We shall see if that did anything- if not uninstalling whole game

I may have fixed the issue-

My problem (I believe) was that I have way too many downloads and I was trying to install them all at once. I broke it down into chunks (about 300 items per round) and installed all my downloads by way of the installer.

Now to load my game and see if it worked...
to be continued...

FIXED!!!!

If you uninstalled your downloads and are trying to reinstall a giagantic amount of them, your game can't handle the install all at once.

You need to break your downloads into sections and install them one-by-one in about 300 items per session.

Message me if you have questions.

sorry guys. this was my problem.. been playing for two days now and it is fixed for me-

i uninstalled all my cc, moved my downloads and packages to the desktop, opened the game and closed it
reinstalled all packages (at once)
took 300 simpacks at one time until all of my simpacks were installed
opened the game and played and so far everything is back to normal.

I'm having a similar problem. I, or rather my daughter, is on a Mac running 10.6
The expansion packs will not open at all or, will attempt to open a different exp pack and then say "no disc installed". Its quite frustrating and I'm really getting ****** off as I've spent a lot of money on all these Sims.

Can anyone help? My daughter has yet to play her Pets exp pack or her Master Suite.

I too am experiencing the same issue as the op. since patch 1.38 and the install of supernatural ep, my store content will not stay installed. Exchange content works fine however river view, the gothica library and all my registration gifts aren't staying installed.

I can install them fine, they say successful. Sometimes I get a failed: Please update. But the majority of the items get installed no issue.

Any word back on a fix?

Tried so far,...

Removed content, loaded game, restored content, reinstalled. Same issue.
Uninstalled and reinstalled sims3, restored content, reinstalled. Same problem.

Note* I use no mods or custom content outside of the store and union cove from Carl's sims3 website. Union cove is working fine.

This is getting annoying. I haven't been playing Sims because there aren't that many different styles or stuff in my game now and...and... I want my chocolate fountain!

I agree. I just want someone (hello SimGurus!) to at least acknowledge that this is happening to a lot of people.

@Everybody: I would go into the Sims 3 folder and remove the Sims3LauncherLogFile, Sims3Logs file, AND all 4 of the Cache files (CASPart, Script, Compositor, SimCompositor) prior to opening the Launcher installing anything else. Put them on your Desktop or something. Then open the Launcher and try installing the sims3packs again. It's worth a shot.

And I have a question for everyone: After the Launcher 'says' it installed CC what is inside of your DCCache folder, and what is inside of your DCBackup folder?

(Documents/ Electronic Arts/ The Sims 3/ DCBackup)
(Documents/ Electronic Arts/ The Sims 3/ DCCache)

If you sort the files inside these 2 folders by Date Modified, does the date and time on the most recent files in the folders match your very latest attempt at installing the CC?

If so, then the Launcher is indeed installing, and an extra problem is making it overwrite its own data for some stupid reason.

If not, then the Launcher's frikkin busted and isn't working at ALL. But I would NOT recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the game! There's gotta be an easier solution.

Same.

When I restarted my computer today, it said that origin has an update dealing with this problem. I installed the update but I'm not so sure it worked. I'll check back with you in a bit.

Edit: Nope, didn't work for me.
