well anyway, I would still love some critique - good or bad - and congrats to the winner.

When I got it your lot wasn't in the compilation of participants! Sorry! Here is some feed back tho!

I love the outdoor eating area! Fountains! YAY! Great use of CC! Really makes the place realistic! The ceiling is pretty! You, as always, thought of every little detail! I love it! I'm sorry you weren't in the judging!

CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: Yes, please.

Comments: You also did a good job on this challenge. I loved the yard for this sim and the fact that you managed to bring the greens of the outdoors inside for her as well. The layout in the house was great. I really loved how open it was. You even gave her a garbage room, which could be used as a laundry area if she ever wanted that.

The winner is.....

Zorraa! Great job to both entries. You met all the requirements and really gave the sims nice homes.

Comments: It is always a pleasure to see your creations. As the only entrant in this category, you are, of course, the winner, but your entry would be a winner regardless! You did a spectacular job with the wedding venue! The landscaping is detailed, thought out, and, well, just breathtaking! I love the stairway up into the rocks. I also love how the lushly flowered landscape seems to flow into the décor of the building. I have only minor suggestions to offer: One is that I would have liked to see an overhead shot of the whole lot. I like to be able to place each screenshot in the context of the overall whole. The other is that the rocks in the waterfall area seem to be floating in the air. I wasn’t sure if that was your intention.

BNS #110-111 - Wedding Venue - Intermediate Results

Brennachan:

Very unique with the Asian design theme. Asian theme isn’t the first that pops to my mind when I think of a wedding venue! Very creative! Beautiful gardens! I especially love the aisle, seating area, and wedding arch! Very creative and unique! Pretty color combination here as well! My suggestion to add a little reality to your garden would be to play with terrain paints more! Make sure to add a little dirt under plants like the plants in front of the pond. Picture 18 I see more of the pond… terrain paint around it a little next time! It will really add to the beauty of it! I like the rock garden! I love the rich, cozy, warm feeling interiors although they feel all empty! They seem a little skimpy compared to the expansive garden! I would have liked to see some rugs (they would have added to the over all feeling you went for) and maybe some none dinning seating for the dancers! Overall you did a splendid job and I really love the Asian design as it isn’t something I would have thought of! Great job!

jostubbs:

Very lovely architecture! I would have played a little with exterior paint and maybe added another stone or wood… using two or, sometimes, three exterior paints really livens up and adds beauty to a build. I like the color and furniture choices in the alter area. I like the stage, ½ wall, and wedding arch combination you created! In picture 5 there seems to be a water thingy in front of the door… maybe just in the middle of the floor and looks as if it is in front of the door… either way it seems out of place here. Your use of terrain paint is excellent!

LandaX:

How clever and cute! You added dressing rooms! I love the patio areas and how you used the curtains there! I like to add a little heather atop the pergola roofs! You don’t have to but it might be an idea you’d like to try some time! I love your color choices for the reception area! Very beautiful landscape! Your use of terrain paint is excellent! You almost had too many pictures!

mgolden:

I love the wedding arch area! Great placement of the benches and lovely red carpet! So pretty with the flowers behind the arch! I love the dance floor area with the fountains in the background! Very pretty! The kids play area is nice but could use a little terrain paint to show attention to detail. Use a sand one around the sandbox for a little realistic feel of kids spilling sand out of it. Use a little brown dirt under the swing to show kids wearing down the grass… It doesn’t seem like much but it really adds a lot! I utterly love your beautiful fountain pond with the bridge!!! So pretty!

mryjn1976:

I’m not sure why, but your pictures are really small! Hard to see them! Pretty gazebo! I would add a little dirt terrain paint under trees to make it a bit more realistic and lively! Otherwise your garden is very pretty! I would have liked to see a few more pictures! Overall you did an excellent job!

Brennachan:

The hall is very pretty! I would have liked to see a piece of wall art on the wall in picture 2. Is there a trash can in the kitchen? I love the layout of the dinning room, desk nooks, and kitchenette! I think you did a great job! I really enjoyed viewing your interiors!

Week 112-113 - Advanced Results - Back to School, Bridgeport Style

Aquacatt
Comments – Starting in the hallway, I like this already. It’s sophisticated without being too “over the top.” LOVE the mosaic tile around the doorway and the geometric design in the carpeting. Cute, eclectic entrance area. Looks very realistic. Love the re-purposed drums (? I’m guessing)) for book storage and the curtain room divider. Cute study area. Love the artwork in here. Nice idea to have separate vanities – very practical. Love the personal touches in the dorm rooms.

Suggestions – Not much to add here… vanities in the main living area might not be terribly practical, and the medium-green walls are a tad limiting – the light blue is a nice neutral color though.

Kiarane
Comments – Nice, crisp look in the entryway. Updated, but not overdone. Like the interior look. Great neutral look inside with enough personal touches to make it look livable. Cute and creative bedrooms. Like that you made room for four individual rooms – adds some privacy needed for studying. Love the individual personalities reflected in each room. Nicely efficient kitchenette. Love the recycling and laundry area built into the common hallway area.

Suggestions – Again, not much to add here… For an institutional space I would stick with identical wall coverings and flooring in all the bedrooms (looks like all but one were identical)

And the Winner is...

Aww Thankyou.
I've now included overview shots of the park. As for the rocks I didn't think of that, it's suposed to look as if they jut out the side just like natural waterfalls. But I'll try to make it better next time. This challenge was great for me as I'm planning my own wedding, and the one thing I wanted was a waterfall behind me.

Thank you so much!! LOL. I know there were only two entries in this category and the other one was an amazing build. But this just made my day.

Edit to say: I got the idea for the vanities from my daughter's dorm. However, they only have one vanity outside the bathroom (in the main livingroom) and one inside the bathroom. It works out pretty well when you have several girls trying to get ready all at once. LOL

Comments: Yours was the only entry in this challenge, but Mugsy could not have asked for a bar more suited to his needs. I really did laugh out loud when I looked at the screen shots of the “persuasion room”. All the tools of the trade are there as well as some unfortunate victims. The meeting room is very elegant and just the sort of room you’d expect mobsters to like. The overall theme of “swimming with the fishes” is carried out in exquisite detail. I love the use of the bubble windows and all the fishy décor items. Here and there the colors you used—especially the wood—was oversaturated. I might have toned them down a little bit. But Mugsy would have nothing to complain about. He’d tell me, “Leave the doll alone! She done good.”

BNS #116-117 - Let's Start Again - Intermediate Results

Alicat84:
I love the addition of a little garden and pond. I like the use of the kids favorite colors in their bedrooms. My first thought on hot pink was that it would be too much but you used it well in the master bedroom. Knowing you were on a budget you did the smart thing and used terrain paint to your advantage! Excellent thinking!

brittanyholez:
I would have used a different toy box in the girls room. You have a floral bed and butterflies on the wall which indicates a girly girl and then you have a pirate toy box which doesn’t exactly state girly girl. I like the overall layout and design of your build. The architecture and landscape are very pretty.

LadyPieta:
My favorite rooms are the living room and master bedroom! I love the rug in the living room and the colors and patterns in the master bedroom are to die for! You used terrain paint well! I would have liked to see a little dirt under the trees, however. The boy’s room is very masculine while the girl’s room is very feminine! I like them!

LandaX:
The size of your house was perfect as it left you plenty cash for your interiors which didn’t feel empty or barren! You also used CAS and wall paint to your utter advantage! The kid bedrooms really represent their ages! Great job! The pond and garden are adorable!

Sarademoor:
I like the CAS’ing of the counters in the kitchen! I like the colors and patterns you used throughout. The landscape is excellent! Great layout of the interior spaces. Overall you did a great job!!!

AND THE WINNER IS ...

LandaX!!!

Congrats!

Optional Challenge: Yes (see slideshow)
Comments: Your townhouse complex really fits well into Sunset Valley. The combination of wood and siding seems just right, and I like your use of green on the exteriors, too. The furnished apartment is warm and inviting. You used MOO and your CC very well. For the most part you’ve furnished everything a young single or couple could want, although I didn’t see a laundry facility—either private or community. (I may have just missed it.) The landscaping in front is quite nice. I know there isn’t much room in back, but I would have liked to see a little landscaping back there too.

Comments: The layout of your townhouses is unusual and so interesting! I like how you kept a consistent ultra-modern tone from architecture to interior. The spiral staircases work well in the small spaces. I appreciate your use of black and white patterns or black and a sort of yellow cream color. Sometimes, however, the patterns seemed overwhelming in the space they were used. My favorite room is the bedroom; I think the patterns work really well here. The landscaping is minimal but fairly effective—I love that each townhouse has its own courtyard.

This was a really hard choice to make. Each set of townhouses was well thought out and well executed. So I’m going to cop out and declare a tie!

Congratulations to Aquacatt and ZYIsSims! And of course the optional challenge winner is Aquacatt. Job well done.
