Hello , I'm hoping that at least one SimGuru is reading this and knows the answer because I was asked this question on another site, and while I have some idea how I'd do this I have no idea how you're going to do it.

The question is this: If you have multiple sims with 'workable' careers (Careers that you can directly control) what happens to the ones you aren't controlling?

Can they function at work without us?

I'd assume the area where they're working temporarily becomes a rabbit-hole and if you aren't looking all they get is a progress bar, but I really would like to know for certain because this looks like it could be quite an important point.

I'm still going to get it though, either way.

A simple agreement with what I've put would suffice or a more detailed answer, if you have time.

For example, a Private Investigator can do low level police work or stakeouts while he isn't working on an active case. The Firefighter is not always fighting fires so there are times where you can let him hang out and socialize at the Fire Station or work out when you aren't controlling him. Both the Stylist and Architectural Design jobs will take you into a mode that will pause the game, but if you don't want to do that you can still have your Sim research their field on the drafting table. Every career has responsibilities and its own active jobs. Each active job will require your full attention, but there are still options that allow your Sim to progress and level up while not controlling them. The most efficient progression will be with you controlling them but the balance is up to you. Similar to how World Adventures worked, it will be a challenge to control more than one Sim with multiple active jobs but we’ve offered many other avenues to help make it easier, and it can be done.

ANSWERED.

If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing well; If you don't want it done well, let EA do it.

I don't want to keep bumping this, but we REALLY need an answer.

I doubt they will answer right now. But I am sure we will all know the answer to that soon once they start having preview events.

But my guess is, the artificial intelligence that controls the sims when the player doesn't will work just the same with the Ambitions career track. By this I mean if your playing a sim who is a firefighter and another that is tattoo artist, whichever one you decide to focus on will not affect the other. If you play the firefighter, your sim tattoo artist will still work as normal, they just won't take on any opportunities and vice versa with the firefighter.

Ugh. WORST part of the new EP. If we don't have an option to not control, I will be one unhappy camper, but I'll stick with it.

That's a really good question and something that'd be helpful to know.
I would like to know the answer as well.

I agree... whats the answer?? So so many questions about ambitions... will still get it no matter what.. but would love to know more.. Oh, and does anyone know of a retail SHOP in new zeaalnd that still sells game guides, I want one for World Adventures and also the one for Ambitions, when it comes out.. driving me nuts, as I dont have a credit card, and online stores don't accept automatic payments from bank accounts.

Good question and I'm guessing that the speculation above is correct.

Several of the active jobs have been designed to allow your Sim to still progress while you're busy with a different Sim elsewhere.
