In other words I cannot play Sims 3 until this is fixed. I just got my new computer yesterday 2 GForce GTX 295 cards in my computer and I cannot roll it back because it is all brand new.

Correct - if it a totally new PC that is on the latest drivers it will have problems so go download the older drivers from Nvidia's website. Once you have done that uninstall your existing drivers and then install the older ones and every thing will be OK.
Not rocket science - just basic system admin.
Kindest regards
John

I'm confused.
I have a Windows Vista with Home Premium SP1 - whatever that means - and NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE and my game starts, but crashes within minutes.
I don't know which NVIDIA to download. I tried the 190.62 but it said that it didn't go with my computer.
Can someone please help me, this is all very frustrating? Which one do I download?!

Is this supposed to fix the crash t desk top issue?
Every time I try to save, or sometimes just for the heck of it, it crashed and the entire town is gone. I have had to go into the computer to find a back up to my last saves, sometimes hours old.
And this crashing issue is getting very old too...

I have just about had it with EA & the Sims! Every time a new game or ep launches, it takes them months to figure out why it won't work on certain systems. They release the specs & they obviously do not know their *** from their elbow! I have way better specs than the minimum & it still crashes, but only since the latest Sims 3 update in August. I have spent countless hours & $$ trying to fix this issue & the only reasonable thing I can think of is EA needs to get on the ball & really think about the fact that the economy is crap right now, but we are all still willing to drop between $50 & $70 for their games!!! Ever heard of customer service EA???

Nichaedemus ha scritto:Hi,
The driver issue mentioned has already been confirmed by at least one user with an NVidia GeForce GTS 250. For reference, the original thread can be found here:
http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/112199.page
Note that the link to the NVidia website mentioned in the EA Support article above is for Windows XP 32-bit, but there are indeed other OS versions available. Please refer the following list for your particular drivers to download:
190.62 WHQL NVidia Drivers
Windows XP 32-bit

Update 11/02/09
NVidia has released a beta version of their video drivers to address the crash/instability issues reported earlier with the Sims 3. Note that these drivers are not WHQL certified, and as such should be considered a temporary fix only. Please refer the following list for your particular drivers to download:
195.39 Beta NVidia Drivers
Windows XP 32-bit

Windows Server 2003 64-bit, Windows XP 64-bit

Windows 7 64-bit, Windows Vista 64-bit

For help with identifying and installing the video drivers, please refer to the following EA Support article:
https://easims.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/easims.cfg/php/enduser/std_ adp.php?p_faqid=10711
I have only had the game a few days and have become really frustrated with the crashing. My computer is a few months old and has the NVidia Driver 191.07 as the original driver. I downloaded and installed the beta version 195.39 in hopes the game would work correctly. Alas, the same crashing / reboot occurred.
Is there hope that there is another 'fix' for this problem in the works?
Any and all who have suggestions, please reply.
Thank y ou

I got the geforce 8400 gs graphics card for my computer back in June and the game has worked fine on my computer until the past month when it has been crashing on me randomly (especially in create-a-sim) and over-heating. I've never experienced over-heating on my computer at all, as in never, until this past month. I think it is because of this new driver update. I also use Windows XP. I think I'm going to have to try the beta version. I hope it works.

My issue is even stranger. I had the 191.07 patch in my computer for a short time before I reformatted due to other unrelated issues. TS2 and TS3 actually played fine with it. Once I reformatted and installed the games, neither would work.
I'm wary of installing the 195 beta because I want to still play TS2 and I haven't seen any information on this issue relating to TS2, it's all about TS3 and there's nothing on the TS2 forums.
EDIT: I have now downloaded the beta driver and both games work fine.

The patches are what screw me up. I do just fine until I download one of those! I too loaded the nvidia 191 and game stopped running but now all my graphics are messed up..I can't play any other game and its flickering and I can't even log out!! this is truly maddening. I have an XP with GF8800 and only have problems with Sims..( now I have problems with all my games and my computer!) This is just nutz.

I have similar issues
I have a 9100 and it doesn't work with the beta or older version. I'm on windows 7. Mine doesn't crash but it moves really really slow. I've tried the different drivers, uninstalling, reinstalling sims, changed to windows mode, defragged my computer twice and purchased WA since it's supposed to be compatible with windows 7 was hoping it would help. Nope still can't play sims 3.
Posted my DxDiag but the only thing they thought it might be was that I have a wide screen monitor. Which I've been using since June to play the sims 3. Played on High end graphic range with no issues and full screen. Now it takes about 5 minutes just for the sim to start moving even on low graphics.
