basiedog wrote:Howdy, I uploaded the Suburban Ranch Home in November http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=4796479 . It fits perfectly with your requirements for this contest: 1. Single story; 2. Lot size 40X40 or less; 3. No residents; 4. At least 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms; 5. No CC.

I am in the process of building a house specifically for the contest, so I don't want this house to be considered. I just wanted to show it off here as you suggested we could.

This house is modeled after a typical American Suburban Ranch Home from around 1960. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen open to the family room, a living room, a formal dining room and a 2 car garage with washer and dryer. Its purchase price is aprox 160,000 simoleans.

Very nice home, basiedog, a rec from me! Thanks for sharing it with us.

I'm just dropping in to say, while I'm all over this contest (BahHaus has been on my wishlist for like, ever) I'll be leaving on May 22nd for 3 months on vacation, so someone else would get much more use out of the set then me! Anyways, the real reason I'm posting is to say I took a look at your creations and they are fantastic! Really pretty.

Wow, what a nice, long vacation - I'm envious! Don't forget that you can nominate someone else to receive the set (although I think it's fine if you want it for yourself; I'm sure once you return, you'll put it to use). And thanks so much for the compliment.

Heh, thanks! That's tough to accomplish in this forum, but I hope to pop it to the top at least a couple times a day, so no one who might be interested in entering misses the chance. There's a lot of time until May 15th, but I know I'm a slow builder, and I'd probably need that time if it were me.

This looks like a lot of fun but I have one question first. If we win and already have the set can we ask that it be gifted to someone else?

Good morning, all! Has anyone else noticed this building quirk?

When you have a freestanding wall like this:

If you apply a wall covering on this side, the edge remains blank:

But if you apply a wall covering on the other side, the edge takes the wall covering:

I never noticed this one-sidedness of wall edges until yesterday. It seems like no matter how long you've been building, there's always something new to discover.

Its funny BryonyRae that I have not noticed that before, even while building the home for the contest today! Yes we learn constantly in this game and often from each other. That Tip would be great for my Hints/Tips Forum if you can Copy and Paste it there? I will put a link if you want to.

1 Question... Can the Dining be in the Kitchen ?

Thanks x

Hi Bryony! Glad to see you are hosting another competition! Just popped in to give you a little bump and to let you know I'll be lurking

Actually I'm interested in the answer to this question also.

I have build my house for the contest but am testing it now.

Here is the layout.

I have the kitchen and dining in one room but could put a wall to separate them (although I prefer them to remain as one room).

Sure, I'll do that. And dining can be located wherever you like - I consider placement of functionality an interior design choice, which I leave entirely up to you.

JMelo! I appreciate the bump. Yes, I figured hosting this contest would be a little less taxing than trying for another round of TNT. Although, someday I'd still like to try my hand at TNT again - probably in a few years, when there are no longer any kids in diapers! I missed ya during the simport flurry; did you get all of your stamps?
