What can we do with this rock? I know, lets hide things under it or let the player kick it. Hey, look at this bush! What can we do with this bush? I know, lets let them pee in that bush! Big conglomerate game developer: Hey, I like the way those bushes and rocks look. Nice background. It looks real.

Small developer: Hey, EA is interested in our rocks and bushes, and they want to buy us out so that we can have enough money to put trees in the game, and they're even willing to hire our entire staff and move us to their studios in Redwood Shores!

I'm not even one to expect the gurus to come in and respond, and I thought it was such a nice gesture for them to come in and reply. I don't understand how people can state that it's not the gurus' fault and then chop them down in the same post..

To each their own I suppose. A little basic respect would be nice though, even in the virtual world.

My problem is with the people who hire and fire.

Also, can everyone stop ganging up on Jarsie? Seriously. You that and get annoyed / have a hissy when she chews you out.

She brings it on herself by acting like a know it all. I fail to see how workig for the government (which I have done for over 10 years) and working in education makes her some sort of expert on working for EA. None of those are even related on any level. How ridiculous. At least I minored in game development while I attended and graduated from the art institute. Hmm...I think I probably know more than her, but whatever.

BTW, Jarsie, I don't hate on small developers for selling. I absolutely never said that. I do however, dislike the slow death brought about by the buying company. My dislike is focused exactly where it needs to be, at EA. And you will barely ever see me on the bashing threads. The only time I respond is when I feel the need to redirect misguided notions. Perhaps it is you who should ignore posts that don't agree with you. I mean, you sure like to dish out all kinds of snarl and remarks, but it is you who goes looking for debates and generally just never shuts up. Seeing as I do read these forums a lot, whenever I see a long-winded, mostly misguided post, I just know it has to be you. *eyeroll*

Almost missed this one:

I'd say given, but that sounds a tad too positive. I know he isn't a higher-up, when I say that, I mean your supervisors / etc. The ones that actually sign your paychecks, that call the shots, that tell you what you can / can't say. The ones who hire, the ones who fire. Honestly, you may say that you aren't being obligated to, and while it's not in your job description, I'm sure they're at least asked you to, especially due to current events. You work for a company that's, especially now, under a lot of public scrutiny, in a division for a game that feels very neglected, and to us, the people who actually buy the games, it feels like we don't matter, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who thinks, and feels, like you only pop up during 'crisis' situations. That might not be true, but it seems that way to me. Sorry for not making my thoughts clearer, and I hope this can clarify a little further.

No, it isn't true, at all. As I said earlier, no one tells us when or what to post. We post all the time, sometimes more, sometimes less. Usually we post more after a release, because we tend to have a bit more time to spare. Also, you guys are more vocal after a release, so you write more, which makes more interesting stuff for us to read! Good and bad. And regarding that "award", honestly, I don't think anyone cares about it. The only thing it points to is, imo, is that EA have a lot of players from all over the world that are highly passionate about their games. Gamers tend to be very vocal, especially on the internet. So it is no surprise to me that a game company like EA would end up "winning".

I'm not saying you do. I'm referring to other people. It happens in multiple threads, and it's aggravating.

Even if they don't like what he said, at least it proves the Gurus are around and do read the forum. Even though they don't have to and it's probably not such a good thing for their mental health.

I really have no comment on his post, other than it pretty much falls in line with what I was thinking and some of what I've tried to explain in various threads.

Gotta give credit to Graham though. I don't know if I would be able to even look at the forum if I were in his shoes, what with all the venom that is posted here about the Gurus.

Yea I feel the same. I've been simming since the original series. And as for TS3, I have all EPs, and a few SPs. My game is currently p****** me off; but, when it works, it serves as a sanctuary to me during this abroad work in my program. So, I'm not going to bash and spout diatribe at Gurus/EA.

The one complaint I do for sure standby is that their online chat service is awful. Those people are horrible! As was quite evident from the only complaint thread I've ever made...

Yeah, that's the one. Problem? As far as I know, they're just as accredited as other schools.

Eh, she's a big girl. She can take it. And, with the way she talks, even when unprovoked, she has to be prepared for the backlash. Tact is a mark of class, in my book. If you portray yourself as having not received that lesson (oops, I mean "not caring about"), as she does on these forums, you have to accept that not everyone's gonna like it. I often agree with *what* she says. It's *how* she says it, time and time again, that make me do the facepalm. But, what's a mob to a queen? She and her boyfriend just sit back and laugh at such posts anyway...right?

Depends on the one you went to. Not trying to diss you, or anyone who went there, but they're generally crappy and frowned upon. No offense, honestly, but I don't take their degrees too seriously. I had a friend who went to the one in Ft. Lauderdale (it's in south Florida, for anyone who doesn't know) for game design and he hated it. The school was crap, his professors are crap.. They aren't that good of a school. He went to Full Sail up in Orlando, don't know what happened after that. (I also don't put much faith in chain schools. Again, that's my opinion, if you had an awesome experience good for you.)

She still has feelings, though, and I hate how people forget that. I'm not saying you're like, Satan, but a lot of people forget that words do have an effect. She can be tact, but a lot of people, and I'm guessing you, too, misinterpret her posts. I don't like her at times, but I know she's still a good person, and I consider her a friend, even if we can (and we do) disagree at times. That doesn't mean she should be jumped on, though, for /one/ post in another thread. If she's being civil here, it's wrong to take your frustration at her from another thread into this one. I think she posted yesterday, when she was in a heated disagreement with Ana(vastia), so that might just be blowing off steam. She has feelings, too. And again, I'm not saying you don't realize that, I'm just saying that I hate how everyone gangs up on her when she's not that bad. Again, I can see where people are coming from at times, but you can't go and bash people and expect them not to fight back.

Ok, from reading SimGuruSemedi response, I get that not every Guru can read and reply to every thread on here. But, the reason I personally think Guru's are not listening is because of the fact that I really don't think there were many people practically begging for a "Katy Perry" stuff pack. That's why I think they're not listening.

You're right. Hence why, I usually pass right by her posts. And, when I do reply, it's when I reeeaallllyyy agree. Or if I reeaaallllyyy feel like she could have said things in a more tactful way. I can probably count on one hand the times I've replied to her.

I suppose because I actually *don't* care about some woman taking her life's frustrations out virtually, I skip a lot of stuff and miss where people actually provoke or bate her into an argument. Of the threads I actually take the time to read, she is the "e-aggressor." lol.

Again, I agree with you. I certainly hope her feelings aren't ever actually hurt. But for some reason, I just strongly doubt that they are.

You do realize the Gurus have no control over who EA chooses to use for celeb. endorsement right?

The only thing i ahve to disagree with on simgurumeatball is i believe EA deserved every bit of that award. This has nothing to do with the sims department, but I'm sorry but i don't know if you've had to sit on the other end and get help from

1. A customer agent that doesn't know english

2. A customer agent that has a funky attitude and when you're already upset

3. A customer agent that doesn't know jack squat about the game, doesn't attempt to even leanr it.

4. Then after 4 hours directs you to a forum where you are looking for help and all the users on this forum can say is your pc sucks it's your fault.

Lol then add in that we the paying customer are feeling the brunt of these cuts, and silly marketing stradegies they pull most of the time. I think it's enough to be fed up because no other gaming company was nominated but EA and to me that speaks in volumes how tired the fans are of their business practices. Again that is directed at EA and i feel that has nothing to do with you the sims team, so players should not direct that anger at you. However i think it's unfair that EA sends the team to fight the fires while they stoke the flames.

I am sure that in some peoples world dealing with bad customer support is worse than losing your house and becoming homeless. In my world it isnt.

Well in that case, it definitely deserves the award for the worst game company

Or for worst customer service by a game company. I have not dealt with customer service for games, so I can't compare them. But I can understand that any customer service where there are language barriers and where the service reps are not themselves involved in the actual development would cause issues.
