I sort through all the stuff.. I reach my hand into a big pile "ow!!" I yell out a knife gave me a pretty big cut . I sigh "where's the bandaids when you need one?" I walk around until I find the medical area"

I'm kicked out of my daydream to find a woman near me. "Need something?" I ask. I notice she has a cut. I take her hand and sterilize it. "Sorry if it stings." I clean up the blood with an old towel and put a band-aid on it. "There," I say as I gently let go of her hand. I put away the supplies I used and look down at the air vent that is near the desk. We haven't had hot or cold air run through it in forever. Too dangerous. If we even touched it we would risk exposure.

"thanks. the kitchen is a mess you know.. how does anyone even eat?"

Spencer
I snap my attention back to her. "Uh, we don't usually have to cook what we find. We gather a lot. Hopefully we'll be able to get some stuff ready and actually have a meal," I say. I fiddle with my backpack strap. "Need help? I'm good at organizing."

Alyssa
I shrug"sure" and lead her to the kitchen

I run my finger along the rusted edge of some 1990's oven we have. We were lucky to have an oven, but this one sucked so much it was as if we didn't have it. I look at a broken refrigerator and at our food supply that took it and four industrial shelves to house. We had an old cooler that had what sparse water we had. It was a risk to run plumbing too.

"We can't have plumbing or power or air because Kann will find us. Plus we can't exactly walk over to Walmart and pick up a freaking LG washer and dryer," I say, looking at the barrels and boards that served as counter tops.

"Kann is the alien chief who started The Awakening. He wants all as slaves or better yet...dead," I say, the fear making my voice crack.
