To the ones who wanted cheapie beds there's this site,

http://aroundthesims3.com/objects/function_comfort_bed_01.shtml

Sandy is a really great creator and I think I have most of the stuff from her site. 99% of it is sims3pack files so you don't have to maintain them in the event of patch or ep.

I love alternative play but not so much the gritty play...not all my sims are rich but not wondering where their next meal is coming from either. I had enough of that in rl when I was young.

I have a game where I'm turning the townies into vamps, but in a nice way.

She's got some really nice stuff. Unfortunately I don't use third party CC.

Town of vamps huh? Make sure you still have some dinner Sims available.

I just wish EA would give us these options. I do like the consignment store. Now at least my sims can buy used furniture.

The only problem with that is if they do buy something at the consignment store it's still regular stuff. It doesn't look used.

They need some furniture more like Loud Fast Clash.

I think an overlay would do. It can be a worn out overlay that makes the furniture look stained and tattered. Then it doesn't offer the same amount of comfort or environment score as it does without the overlay. It can be done.

Great thread. I like playing the poor person in his/her fishing shack on occasion.

I would like more items to do with this kind of theme as well, especially clothes.

It's hard to be po' when all you have to wear is california-designeresque.

Edit to add: and why do bills have to go up based on sim's income? Even sims with the frugal trait?

I started this thread to have players let EA know that there are players who don't want designer beverage makers for their kitchens, stuff to fill mansions and designer clothes. Considering the threads on the upcoming store content it looks like we are just getting more gadgets.

I love the grittier side of things. I'm not sure what about it appeals to me but show me a picture of an old ghost town or abandoned buildings and I'm all over it.

All of my favourite sims live within inner-city style neighbourhoods in tiny two-room apartments (with one room serving as the kitchen, bedroom, living room etc and the second room being the bathroom - though sometimes I just have one room and make a public bathroom at the end of the corridor).

Unfortunately EA just hasn't provided me with the content to achieve what I want. I've become so tired of all the luxury-themed items but i never really complained about it because I thought that what I wanted was niche.

You could say Sweet Treats has brought me out of the closet. If people get to have candy couches I want my cyberpunk, faux junkie-style stuff.

AND MORE CONTENT FOR MALE SIMS DANGIT!

(including a navel-exposing top and some tight leather bondage pants for my man of the night sim )

I hate to say this but there is no alternative way to play the Sims, only the player's way. Or at least that's how it should be. The Sims 3 kinda lacks the customizable and bendable game play that previous Sims games have. It shouldn't be that way.

I don't think your interest (and play style) is as off the wall as you think. Look at the threads in the forums every day about vamps, zombies, asylums and the things that people do to their Sims. I think it's just that these people don't speak up and that's why I started this thread. EA needs to know not everyone wants new, shiny, modern MacMansion stuff.

I guess that's the first thing that came to mind when I titled this thread. When I see all the threads about things like 100's of babies, Sim luxury weddings, people cooing over virtual toddlers, and the gushing threads about candy worlds.....I do feel like I have an alternate play style and I'm feeling left out by EA.

I felt left out, too, so I went back to playing the Sims 2. I'm currently playing Chiroptera Canyon, a neighborhood of mine that's a desert wasteland after a bad fallout. I have TONS of items extracted from Half-Life/Fallout/Silent Hill and lots of derelict lots to play on. Just recently, I inserted a Zombie into the hood, Carlos Muertos (lol, lame, I know), and I have Fight Club/Zombie Apocalypse mod installed.

However, I have the Sims 2 Double Deluxe with the Store Edition and he needs to greet before attacking people. I hate greeting. I hope there's a mod to get rid of it because I've been looking for it.

@PHOEBESMOM601: I'm curious because I've seen that word before, but what is a MacMansion? It must be different to a regular mansion otherwise it wouldn't have a different name but I can't for the life of me figure out what makes it differ from a regular mansion.

I guess I don't stray into the ideas and feedback section enough to see them, but I don't know, I always got the impression that The Sims was not really geared towards me. It's a fun game all the same and I always used to enjoy what we got but never have I ever felt so alienated from the game than I do now with TS3.

Thinking about it, while I've bought the other expansions up to Showtime which I left out due to the social networking I think I still mostly use CC or content from Late Night. It's quite sad considering I've spent probably about £25 on each expansion pack...

Edit: I also would love to have some better wall art. Graffiti / peeling posters / rain-damaged posters, graffiti'd posters or something like that. I used to have loads of CC wall art of that nature but for some reason ever since one of the patches whenever I try to put CC wall art into my game it makes it drag like crazy or sometimes not load at all. It's a shame because I used to have all the Left 4 Dead wall scribbles and other random graffiti from Club Crimsyn as well as some artwork by a deviantart user that a creator had turned into wall art and it went really well with my sims' crappy apartments.

McMansions are very cookie cutter homes. Developer buys a big plot of land and makes a whole bunch of expensive homes that all look the same. Granite counter tops, gas fireplaces, huge master suites and bonus rooms, all the stuff you're supposed to want as a good little consumer.

Yeah, that's pretty much my feeling on it. I'm planning on building a McMansion area in Hidden Springs and filling it with dysfunctional sims. They give off a really creepy vibe and it's a good opportunity to use all the JCPenney catalogue-style furniture that's already in game.
