Nothing at all.
It's just with anime becoming more and more mainstream in western entertainment so many people suddenly have this obsessive interest with Japan.

Personally, I think it's kind of stupid for anyone to say they really like a place or culture unless they've been there to experience it and most Japanophiles have not and don't really know all that much substantial info on the country.

I think China was a good choice, I'm kind of getting tired of hearing about Japan anyway. But I do think they could have added a couple more options.

I dont agree with that completely , Im a fan of anime and Im in love with the culture of Japan, the clothes, the language , and the art. Its not just from watching anime that i like Japan. Im hoping to one day live there. But I do agree that people shouldnt just like Japan because they see it in anime.
China is gret choice as well , many of Japan's customs were adapted from China. So fans of Japan shouldnt be dissapointed.

I was with you until the moving part. I mean I like Japan for all those reasons including gastronomy, architecture, history. However, I haven't been there. I have an abundance of knowledge, probably know their history better than a lot of Japanese but that doesn't matter because I've never been there. So unless you've been there I have no idea why you would hope to live there....it's not an easy task to get done or to continue to do.

Ick, I would just hate to live somewhere where I would never be treated like I was a part of the country and that would pretty much be the case for anyone not Japanese or Japanese looking.

I want Japan! I live in Japan , I speak japanese, and I would have love the adventure here. People who says there is nothing wrong with China are obviously PC (politically correct) and why learn karate in China , lets learn kung ** right..

Which reminds me any language skills learning planned? I think it will be bad if we can go to those destination and just talk regular simlish.

I like the language skill idea not everyone in the world (even in the sims world) speaks the same language.

I agree with you to an extent. Though some people just want to go to Japan because they are influenced by the customs/anime or because of their friends, there are some people who are genuinely interested in going to Japan because they have never been there, and they'd like to try it. However, it's tricky. There are a lot of overzealous anime lovers out there, who try to be Japanese, knowing nothing of its history or culture. Though, they may just say they want to go to Japan because it would be cool to explore a place they've never been, to save themselves from looking like a complete tool.

But you're kind of contradicting yourself. You say you wouldn't know what Japan was like unless you lived there... But then you make comments that one would (or should, by what you're saying) know by living in Japan. Nonetheless, I get what you're saying, I just think it needs a bit of work done. Plus, the whole reason for experiencing something for yourself is so you inform yourself of what was unknown (IE Not knowing what Japan was like so visiting there, but I agree it's a bit of a leap to say you want to MOVE there without visiting).

My friend Sarah is in Japan for 3 weeks and comes back in about a week and then some. She actually has never SEEN Anime, only heard of it, but an exchange student from Japan came and then left us, and we were all sad, so she went to Japan this month when our friend invited her! It was really cool, and it was also good to know that she wasn't influenced to go to Japan because of what she's heard/seen.

My other friend Fumi (Who is actually Japanese but grew up in Vancouver) went abroad to London for a year. She wants to live in London and find a school there now!

No, I'm not because knowing facts about Japan, history and other things I can be told about and study is not the same as knowing what it's like to live in Japan and the society. So yeah I know **** well that Japan has sexism issues and problems with perverts that like to grope girls on trains because I READ these things and I'm TOLD them. But simply knowing these facts or every other fact is not enough to decide something as serious as moving to Japan or anywhere. And it's definitely not a basis for saying you love or hate the country (no facts, positive nor negative) because you are not experiencing the culture and way of living first hand.

So no, there's no contradiction.

It's mixed reviews but for the most part...Japanese are homogeneous to the extreme. I have spoken to many Japanese people about racism, in example. Not one has failed to tell me that they don't have this problem because everyone in Japan is Japanese. That's not true, and to me is a clear representation of how foreigners living in Japan are disregarded as part of their society. Of course the amount of foreigners there are very small but they are still there and it's not so unheard of that they should be disregarded.

Overall, most people seem to say that the Japanese are very nice to guest to the country. But the people living there not so much. I don't mean they always get funny looks are are stoned in the streets (lol) but simple things like finding rents, jobs, getting into schools is really hard and almost impossible if you don't have a Japanese spouse or friend. That's why I find it funny when people talk about moving to Japan, it's very hard to do legally.

The whole thing reminds me of that quote (sort of) "It's a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there". That fits in here well. I just don't understand why anyone would really want to go through that.

LMAO...People are PC because they don't think there's anything wrong with China as the destination?

Because no one can like China right? It's all about Japan?

If you're NOT Japanese that whole statement is ten times more hilarious. But you sound pretty Japanese especially since your English is off making me think it's not your first language.

lol I can actually picture that. Anyways, I agree with you about it being hard to find schools (except for being a FES), rent, or jobs in Japan (in fact any country) without marrying a Japanese person or friend. Even Japanese decent people living outside japan might run into these issues. So basically, Im glad they put China in the game

Lol, for one thing there's something called sarcasm...learn it.
And since we're talking about the GAME and replying about why people would like Japan in the GAME I have no idea why you would take it upon yourself to talk about China as the country and not the destination in the GAME when what you were replying to specifically was about that. Then on top on that you get mad when I assume you're actually on the same page. You're amusing.

As I have been shouting my nationality in several message you are obviously ****** about something but it is not my problem if you don't like my english.

I'm star's about something? Awesome.
And you're not important to me sweetie, I'm not even going to recognize you outside of this message because I don't care about you nor your nationality.

Educated people understand my english you know.

They must be educated because it's pretty hard with the lack of punctuation and grammar. Sorry I'm used to talking to people that use English (It's capitalized btw) correctly.

I told already why I wanted Japan as a destination not only once girl.

Yeah, like I said, you're not all that important to me. I have no idea who you are. I'm not even sure I've spoken to you more than once before and it doesn't really matter either.

You are a weird person shouting at everybody because they don't think like you.

ACTUALLY THIS IS SHOUTING IN THE TYPING WORLD. I merely expressed my disdain/annoyance for Japanophiles.

I am in why not Japan and I am saying yes I want Japan.

There's that wonderful English again.

If you don't like my opinion all I can do is sing cry me a river to you. Cry me a riveeeer...Cry me, cry meeeee.. ooh yeeeaaah

Lol yeah totally I'll get right on that.
I think we're done here.

A friend's son (she was an adult another of my former EAs) lived in Japan for awhile and she and her husband went to visit him and they were treated very nicely. Maybe if you brought some Canadian stuff with you they would be a bit nicer since some Japanese are crazy about Canadian stuff.

That's interesting. I've never heard that. Every Japanese person I know thinks of Canada as some sort of extension of America. It's irksome.
