Download now!

---PLEASE READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING---

World Specs:
File Size: 191MB.
Games needed: World Adventures, Ambitions and Late Night. I also used High End Loft Stuff, Fast Lane Stuff and Outdoor Living stuff but I don't know if they're needed for the world to load, it might be fine without them as long as you have the expansions.
CC:
I did use a moderately medium amount of CC while decorating some of the lots and houses, so some people may wish to remove it before playing.

Note that these figures may be slightly inaccurate as it's hard to count so many lots.

Residential Lots: 79
Community Lots: 62-64

Residential Area:

Blank Lots:
64x64 – R
45x45- R
30x30- R
40x35- C
25x30- R
25x30- R
35x30- R
35x30- R

City Area:

Blank Lots:
20x30- C (this is blank apart from one important object in the middle)
8 blank lots in total.

6 Starter Homes-. 5 different styles, all cost under $16,500. Plus a few affordable apartments in the city.

Store Sets used:

Earth Day (free)

488&scategoryId=12416&index=0&productId=OFB-SIM3:20378&pcatego
ryId=12858&ppcategoryId=12415

Year of the Tiger (free)

488&scategoryId=12305&index=0&productId=OFB-SIM3:19278&pcatego
ryId=12858&ppcategoryId=12304

*apparently these sets are no longer free, I'm sorry about that*

Known issues:
Occasional freezing. This is better than it used to be, but I appreciate that it is still annoying. I will see if I can improve this further. I've discovered that the world runs a lot more smoothly if you are able to remove the CC, so anyone with freezing troubles should try this.

The world was meant to upload as a city, but instead uploaded as a suburb like SV. I tried to change it to a city but it didn't work for some reason.

Sadly, there will not be any further updates to Metrotopia as my CAW files got corrupted.

Disclaimer Lots made by myself and EA only. Some CC made by third-party Simmers and some Store content but nothing major.

Finally, I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed to the thread with their ideas, requests and feedback. You have helped to make Metrotopia so much better and I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

*The world does use several fog emitters both in Central Park and at City Hall, bringing the city to life with pigeons! The first time you make a new Metrotopia save you will only see fog, but the next time you load your save the emitters will revert to the pigeons.*

*If you need help finding the statue to cure your Sim of curses, it is near the sea in the city section of Metrotopia.*

*While playtesting, I noticed that Overwatch helped to keep things smooth in terms of lag, and I also sped the game up by resetting everything with Master Controller. (City Hall...Nraas...Master Controller...Town...Reset everything)* If you don't have these mods and don't have a problem with them, I would recommend getting these two. They can be found here:

Note that I am having some trouble with the 'CC-free' versions as a few items still seem to be attached. The links have been removed.

Original first post:
I've been working on this for five months. After getting my new computer the other week, I also got Ambitions and Late Night to help me finish the world. However, after some trouble with Edit in Game I realised that parts of the world were too small, so I'm now rebuilding it; bigger and better than before.

There will be a residential area on the other side of the bridges, with a river and a beach. For now I'm just rebuilding the city section.

Pics!

Your street layout is very nicely scaled. Much better than my own which is way to tight. http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/315032.page . Keep up the good work.

Guess who's back.

This really looks good. Tonight I finally got Bridgeport to stay open without crashing to desktop, and I can't tell you how disappointed I was. The roads are not smooth, the terrain painting is dull, and uninspiring. So sad.

I'm bookmarking so I can watch your progress.

Quick Update - 7.01.11

View of Central Park and other buildings

Skyscrapers, trees, a building site, and the dock. I like this picture.

Not much here, just some rocks, trees and terrain

I've started rebuilding the residential area, as seen here

The residential section's going quite well It's probably about 30% done.

Update! 14.01.11

This is going well now, I just need to work on the hills, build a few more houses and then I can start adding the final touches.

I'm probably going to upload this; it seems a but unfair to show it off without letting other people try it for themselves.

I need to finish this world so I can start filming my new machinima, so I'm looking forward to getting it done but I'm not gonna rush either.

Some new pics:
