So, one thing i've always wanted to do when building a house, is build a garage attached to a house with a foundation.
Typically, if you try to place a wall right up to the foundation it says something about covered by floor tile. Does the floor constraint cheat fix that? Or is there another trick to it? I've always just given up and moved the garage over so that there was at least one row of spaces between house and garage, but it would be nice to built it the way i want.
I want to do something like this (notice the walk up to the door, but garage on ground level):
Even this would be fun to make (notice the garage and "basement" are not even):
Anytips and tricks are welcome. Thanks

Have you tried building the walls surrounding the garage on a foundation? Perhaps it'll let you use the floor cheat with more ease. You could connect the ground level of the garage to the foundation with stairs. I haven't tried doing this yet, though. Good luck!

Constrainfloorelevation will allow you to build a house on foundation with an attached garage.

Addict did a really good job with instructions for a carport--see above. I imagine if you keep the walls up it would still work out as a garage!
I have been wanting to do a split level home for awhile now! I was excited in Sims 2 they had the platform foundation but it never worked the way I wanted. Let me know if you figure out how to do a multi/split level!

The best way that I know of is to manipulate the terrain to create the illusion that part of the second floor is the first floor. As far as I know, there's no way to do shifts in height like that, within walls, at least, that are less than 1 floor in magnitude. An elaborately terraced garden, yeah, but the house would have to be like
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
AAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOO
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Where the A's are ground, and the O's are house.

Yeah, i guess the way car park themselves in TS3, you can put a parking spot in a garage with a foundation and maybe slope the terrain so that it looks like it's not elevated by a foundation...
But still, i was wondering if there's a trick to building a wall continuation off a foundation.
______|---------|
______ being the garage right up against |-------| being the foundation.
Like the house in the first picture.

Ok, so here's my house. With the garage attached to a foundation house. No word yet on a trick to make split levels. But i was able to do a decent remake of my childhood home, which i've never been able to do before.
Here's the front view:

From the back:
Whatcha think?
