Looking great. Looking forward to play testing it. Glad you furnished a pronunciation guide. Gaelic sounds beautiful to listen to but wow trying to pronounce it for those of us who have no clue is something else. You know Conor like Rflong if you need sims I give you permission to use any of mine in your worlds. You are my friend and I trust you.

Aw thank you Rukaya Glad to have a tester! I don't think there'll be much to test, or to re-do, but just to be sure, you know what I mean. Yeah, it really is a beautiful language. It's not really liked here because back, years ago, it was forced into people because it was seen as the only thing that kept our Irishness against the invading English... it's a really, really difficult language and is taught in schools here, but not taught like french or spanish, it's almost taught like English! Which is why I think students hate it even more because what's the point in learning Irish poems when you have no idea what they mean, literally?
Anyway, yes I thought a pronunciation thing would be nice because I know how frustrating it can be to look at a word and have no idea how to say it I might include some sims' names in there too, as some are more obscure than Pádraig or Sinéad. I could always include it in their bios though, I suppsoe ... What do you think?
Thank you so much for the offer Rukaya, but all sims are complete It's just a case of making their backgrounds now. I have some very, very interesting sims in Rinn Fáda. Hope ye guys like them once Testing starts

Beautiful Conor I love the caravans (I think that's what they're called over there?) and travellers are kinda like gypsies that move from place to place and travel in large family groups, right? Like Brad Pitt's character in Snatch except they called them Parkies?
I've read almost every Maeve Binchy book & the Travellers are in a copule of them.
Keep up the awesome lot building!

I think that is a great idea. I am familiar with those names. too. My eldest son's name is Sean as a matter of fact. My nod to my Irish ancestors, some Scots too. I truely love Scottish and Irish music as does the rest of my family My grandchildren look forward when we go to the Highland games here in Northern California, and when ever the PBS channel has Celtic music on we try to watch it.

Hi Sneak!! Yes, we call them caravans here. I think it's trailers where you are and in America. Yep, you're completely right. It's sad though, they aren't liked at all. They are notorious for stealing and dog-fighting and animal abuse... I don't mean to offend them at all, but even if you were blind and deaf you would still realise what they're like. But saying that, not all Travellers are the same - which features in the family I have in Rinn Fáda, a family feud. Maeve Binchy! I only read one of her books, Circle of Friends. She's an Irish treasure. But did you hear, Sneak? She passed away last Monday. I actually made a sim in rememberance of her, and I named her Muireann Binchy. She lives alone with her cat on the far side of the map and loves to write romantic novels Thank you so much Sneak

I actually forgot to include a sim named Seán! I might squeeze it in somewhere, I actually have one family left to do (I have the mother & father made, but no kids) so maybe Seán will be coming your way I love how Americans and people of other nationality take such pride in having Irish ancestors. Hopefully Rinn Fáda will bring you closer to Ireland I'm going off for the night (since it's a Bank Holiday this weekend) so I won't be getting any more work done tonight, but definitely tomorrow. Testing will either begin late tomorrow, or early Tuesday. I appreciate anyone who is willing to help! ETA: Oh and ARGH! I'm such an idiot I looking up the correct spelling of "Fada" a few weeks ago, and sure enough there was no accent, so it's actually "Rinn Fada". I've been meaning to say it but it just never crossed my mind, and sure enough I got used to writing "fáda" so it was hard to stop SO actually, it is RINN FADA!

I'm really getting excited about the release of your world Conor, Rinn Fada, without the accent. All the pictures are so beautiful...all the terrain looks great. Love the unique houses and I don't think I have any like them in my library.
I love the Irish music and dance...some of the most infectious rhythms around. In fact, after becoming truly tired of seeing the movie Titanic, most favorite part I still loved...the part where the real band, The Wild Celts played. They actually performed at a casino that has an Irish pub, not too far from me and missed them because I was out of town.
And don't even get me started about River Dance...wow! I, too love to hear the Irish and Scottish brogues. You are very lucky to be in a culture so rich in tradition.

Wow...this is stunning
I just went through all of your pages, haha.
Lovely, lovely world. I've never been to Ireland but I do have a decent chunk of Irish heritage in me and everything about Irish culture and Ireland itself is so fitting. Perhaps I'll live there one day, but definitely visit!
I also love how some of the lots are very "plain" and others are more intricate. I cannot remember so please forgive me if this has been asked/shown, but are there a few stone cottages in the world? I absolutely love the look of them--very homely and quaint

Hi and thanks Bshag
I agree, it is infectious music! I'm not really that interested in it, I'm more into the indie-alternative-rock but even I like io listen to it sometimes Irish music, sean nós, is played sometimes in pubs over here and not by professional bands or musicians, it'd just be the locals playing and singing whatever they can. Well, that's what it's like where I live, but I'm sure it applies to other places aswell. Even if you don't like the music you sing along anyway
Never thought of it like that ... but since joining the forums and meeting all different types of people, I like my heritage and culture even more. Even since making Rinn Fada, I'm apprecitiang everything here - During the early stages of RF I went on walks through the fields to get an idea of the landscape, and when building the lots went walking around, examining my neighbour's house. Even the mountain/waterfall area is inspired by local mountains here, The Comeraghs. The weather has been miserable for about a solid week now, as always, but still when I look out the window the hills are beautiful. I've noticed all the little things about my country and included them in Rinn Fada, so hopefully ye will notice them!
Thanks again, you're too kind

Tell me about it, TBAYLN2 I can't wait to see what RF looks in the snow & rain, even in autumn when the trees are golden! Oh yes, anyone can help testing, I'll post the link and download it whenever you want and report any issues, big or small, that you find. Thanks, and enjoy your holiday

Hi Ashcrash Thank you very much! Thanks for the compliments on the lots. I wanted to get them as accurate and realistic as possible, instead of having lots from the exchange or from the library that only fit Sunset Valley. Oh, about Sone Cottages - there's none of those, no. I was going to include some, one or two maybe, but as I was building and building the houses in my head were already planned out and nothing really struck me about a stone cottage. I do have a big stone cottage house... it's not exactly a cottage, but it overlooks the sea. IT should be a few pages back (1 or 2 maybe) and it has a decking and steps down to a trampoline thing.
Anyway, thanks!
niac1234 wrote:I liked the accent.
Me too, Niac, me too A friend of mine on here (RockleyFamily) who is also Irish told me that there wasn't an accent (or fada - it's confusing) and I was wondering if she was right or not, so I looked it up in the dictionary and she was- but that was weeks ago! I forgot to change it, and since I was writing it like that for months it just stuck. The name "Rinn Fada" seems very naked, to me anyway, but that's the way it's got to be
Sorry, I wasn't able to post a link last night for testing, I still have to link all the sims up by adding relationships and making sure careers and right and all that. EIG takes about 20mins to save, and even at that it mightn't save correctly, so it's very tedious. I'm hoping for tonight, though
Thanks everyone for the support.

Hi everyone
Everything is ready to go ... but I've been waiting for EIG to save sucessfully for the past hour and a half and it refuses to I'm really hoping it will save successfully before tonight because I don't want it to linger on too long. I will update the first page with everything you need to know if you're testing, but not right now. I think I'll turn off the PC in a few minutes and take a break - I've been on it since 9am this morning on-and-off, finishing the world and its sims.
Thanks to everyone who can test Rinn Fada

Ah, thank you very much It's just about done... still waiting for EIG to save, having a bit of trouble with it.
Oh, and just about your username - have you ever seen Snow Patrol? I did at the Pheonix Park concert a month ago. Outstanding.
Anyway, I've updated the first post everyone with details and a tonne of pics. Hopefully tonight I'll have the link up to test, if EIG ever saves!
