I just recently installed TS3 on my mac because my PC that I used specifically for the game has started to crap out on me. I installed just the base game last night, and everything was working fine. Then today, I installed all of the rest of my EP's and SP's (I have all except showtime).

however, I did not install Pets because I anticipated having problems with that install and I wanted to make sure everything was up and running first.

now I get the same error message right when I click which save I want to play. Nothing loads. The error message comes up. The game crashes, no matter if I debug or not.

Is there nothing that can be done? I am very frustrated because there is nothing wrong with my Mac, and I know that that is not the problem. I read in some other forums that it is a software problem and to contact apple, but I don't think that this is the case. This many people wouldn't have a problem. If EA made better quality games, they would work no matter what. I have no questions about the quality of my macbook.

I WISH THE GAME WOULD WORK!!!

I've had the same error a bunch of times; I have the base game and the Showtime expansion pack. The first time I got it I looked up how to fix it... hardly any answers but there was deleting your save file (which was kind of sad, because I had so much family progress in my game) or uninstalling and re-installing the game. I decided to uninstall and reinstall the game.
I started playing a whole new town with no debug error... until I started playing a test town to try to create ghosts and get the grim reaper in our family. I think it was after I "Force NCP: Grim Reaper" multiple times it crashed on me. I just got really annoyed because 1. I lost all of my family progress for my last family and 2. I thought it was over! I just wanted to play my game!!!
So, I deleted the test family and went back to my regular game play. Surprise surprise, it happened again after a while. I deleted that family, then started a new one. I guess since I've been switching around a lot, it doesn't really bug me much any more... just make a new family. But it still does happen. My solution for it not happening in a while: uninstall and reinstall. That's my only solution now, sorry. I'm trying to test new ways and what-so-ever to try and fix this without the gurus help, because they don't really seem to be helping with this problem that much... Well, that's basically it. I hoped I helped some of you
Oh, and by the way, some users have deleted their save file and havent experienced the error in a while. I'm not really sure how long it will last, though. Sorry! Just keep on saving and it might be fine! See ya!

Clearly this is a MAJOR ISSUE!!!! Why isn't EA addressing this?! At least post a general announcement that you are trying to find the solution and to be patient, but NOTHING!!

I just got this error today for the first time ever. I don't use mods, CC or store content. I clicked on yes to fix the error loaded up my game again and it worked fine. I guess this is an issue that's been going on for a while now. Hope it gets fixed soon.

Nobody does it better, Steve Jobs you simply are the best. RIP 10-5-2011

In the next live broadcast, somebody should address this, I mean obviously using the help area (where we are being spoken to by outsourcers in India) is not helping at all, and the gurus are paying no attention to this problem at all.

I saw your post, and clicked "Me too" on the box. I then wrote how it affected me too, if people would comment on it I'm sure EA would notice it.

If you notice ea on the new help forum comments on everyone else but our new mac thread they commented on other threads that were put out on the same day or that were new but they just won't touch the problem with a 50 foot pole or anything i mean come on say something like we are trying to look into the problem or we need to gather more info about this problem and be patience. But it's hard when it's been almost 2 years and they say nothing and don't even acknowledge the problem and just ignore us! I want season so bad but i'm afraid i'm gonna be wasting money on a game that won't work. Anyone else feel the same way?

Same! I really want Supernatural and Seasons but why spend the money when it might not work on my computer?

This is completely frustrating. Apparently, if you move your "Electronic Arts" folder to the Desktop, un-install and re-install ALL OF THE games you own, then replace the newly made "Electronic Arts" folder with the one on your Desktop, that should work? This is the only solution I have yet to try since I dont have all the games with me, they are back home. Darn it.

So glad to know that this isn't happening to only me. I thought I'd fix this with reinstalling the game (knowing I was going to loose everything, but at the time I thought it was worth it) but now I'm facing another problem, the game launcher won't even appear/start now. This appears when I click on the game:

Is anyone else getting this too when reinstalling after the first problem? I'm like freaking out because I excited for Seasons and Supernatural but I doubt imma be able to play if this keeps happening.

This has also started happening to me, along with getting Exception Raised error regularly. All started when I installed the Katy Perry Sweet Treats stuff pack (took advantage of the 50% off deal that was available on GameTreeMac - digital download).

Although, I was getting Exception Raised error before I installed that stuff pack, it was not as frequent as it is now. A Noy Ing.

The unknown error thing is a pain in the ****. Somehow I fumbled around that by copying my sims folder to the desktop, deleting the sims preference folder (I really don't recommend this even though it seems to work!), letting the game generate a new preference folder and new game file, downloading, moving the downloads out of the downloads folder to desktop (or just into the save games download folder I already had put onto the desktop), quitting launcher, replacing the game folder with the original one and then firing it up and installing it that way... RIDICULOUS solution. Also peeps, I cannot emphasize this enough - please keep a backup of your store stuff on your computer separately, so you always have your own copy of it.

I think I will have to do ANOTHER reinstall... grrrrrr. Every time I install an EP or SP now I have to do that!? (It takes a whole freaking day AND reinstall all the store content - not cool).

Anyway, this post is really to add my voice to the already frustrated mac users on this forum. I really don't expect any help or a viable solution from EA - we're on our own folks. We have to suck it up and get on with it. (A little venting is okay...)
