Hello,

Many of us have had pop ups saying that our card is unsupported by the game, or we find our card isn't on the original supported card list, however the game runs great with our graphics card. You think "Why hasn't EA put this on their list?". So Sgizzle09 and I have decided to start a topic with a newer, updated supported graphics card list, so people can see the other graphics cards that also play Sims 3 awesomely...

So here it is:

=============================

Key:
BLACK = Cards on EA's Supported Card List
BLUE
= Cards that definitely support the Sims 3 base game
RED
= Cards that definitely support ALL of the Sims 3 (Base Game + EPs + SPs)

=============================

Please Note: In order for all of these graphics cards to achieve their full potential of playing Sims 3 well, they require a strong system that goes beyond the minimum requirements. I would recommend a 2.4GHz+ multi-core CPU, and at least 4GB of RAM to achieve amazing gameplay.

Currently, this is only a work in progress, but we cannot do this alone! We need you to help us. If you have found another graphics card that plays the game well, please feel free to reply and tell us. If you believe a card shouldn't be on this list, or I have made a mistake, please also tell us.

But I hope this helps people out,

Cody (& Sgizzle09)

PS. We would love this topic to become stickied for future reference for other people...

PSS.

Updates:
(24/11/11) - Added graphics cards to the new red colour; 'Cards that definitely support ALL of the Sims 3 (Base Game + EPs + SPs)'

Thanks for mentioning me although it was your idea!
I have been doing alot of research since then...
Here are a few other reports I have found:
FatCat wrote:I have an ATI HD4670 512mb, 2 gb

Game runs smooth with all settings on highest,
except shadows/lighting which is on medium.
(because I do not like shadows lol)

Everything else there is to turn on is on.
1280x1024 resolution (have no widescreen yet)
Detailed lots on 3.

8xAA + 8xAF + Mipmap detail high quality in ATI CCC.

^^ i dont see the ATI Radeon 4670 listed.

The below are all cards that I have read to be working great without lag, graphical issues, etc and I found these in the hundreds of threads I have saved in my bookmarks for good graphics cards:
the NVIDIA 450/460 cards work great
The NVIDIA 260, ATI 4650, ATI 5750, ATI5850, and ATI 5870 also work great
The ATI Radeon 4890 also works perfectly.
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M
NVIDIA Nforce 430 works too in conjunction with an integrated card.

Well your my research manager now...

Could you please write also whether it is an ATI or NVIDIA (or maybe even Intel... ) card, so I make sure I post it in the right place.

Thanks,

Cody

to be specific on the 460..this is the one that I KNOW works even though Im sure all the 460's work:
NVIDIA Gforce GTX 460M

Also, maybe you can color code the new ones that were added or bold them..someway for them to stand out from the older list?

Can you just cancel the pop-up and play anyway if you get a unsupported graphic card message ?

Hello,

Yes, you can do that, and play completely normally. We have created this topic to show a new supported list of graphics cards, so that people aren't alarmed if they get this pop up. Also, EA may also release a patch which means if you have one of the cards on the new supported list, you won't get this pop up, and maybe they might even change their official Supported List to one similar to ours.

But this thread can also be used to help those people who are always asking which graphics card to buy!

Hope this helps,

Cody

My computer has an NVIDIA GeForce GTS 240, and TS3 plays beautifully with all game settings on high.

I just put in a GTX 560 TI, and it seems to be running just fine on max settings. I haven't gotten an incompatible graphics card message, either. I haven't played The Sims much yet, however. (Just got things fully re-installed on Monday. )
