Quite honestly I don't know how some things I have seen there get approved if those are their kinds of guidelines.
I would put it up on the blog, and leave the link to mediafire. That way no one can tell you that you have to alter your world or its contents just to fit in with some insane rules.

No wonder MTS doesn't have many world available. Boy, they are missing out, imho.

I have no heartburn with mediafire...probably obvious by all the testing I've done for you and others.

BTW, Rflong, if you haven't seen the CAW Lane thread this morning (I haven't read it yet today), you might want to hold off on installing V17 of the Overwatch mod. There has been a report of hopelessly freezing a save on Twallan's thread and DM had the same thing happen to him last night. Since you've already been faced with computer problems, I wanted to mention it because you might think a problem was computer based rather than mod based.

I'm mostly venting really. I didn't think about it while I was creating or I could have planned better. Now I just do it so I can say I tried and succeeded or tried and failed... either way I will have tried.

Which mod is the OverWatch? I have the latest Porter, DebugEnabler, and the Master Controller. Which I had to update just to use to install Sims.

I'll play the latest with Sims... which I just finished . . . to see if it freezes.

And change the title to testing again. :la sigh:

I really am glad they are making mods, don't get me wrong.

I totally agree. I've downloaded things from them that, at first glance looked pretty good, then I quickly learned weren't. Done a lot of deleting in my day! And, I've often wondered why they had so few worlds on their site. Well, now we know!
After reading all of the comments that you ladies have about MTS, it's a wonder that any designer would even bother. It's a shame, because the quality of work on this world - by all who particiapated in its creation - is excellent.

But word-of-mouth will get the message out there. And, your reputations precede you.

The mod is called The Overwatch. It's the one that cleans up the excess vehicles, among other things, in the 'hoods, so imho, one of the most needed for the game. Version 14 is okay and a link to the download for it is also on page one of The Overwatch thread. Twallan is really good about leaving a link to the prior version of an updated mod just in case there is a problem with the update.

Thanks for the info! I just downloaded this mod after reading earlier posts by you. Will check to see which version I have. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing the information. I don't have the mod so knock on wood.

~I do understand why modthesims must have standards. I think it's more my fault for not researching first. I did know I wanted to have Sims in the world and would want to host it somewhere.
There are wonderful worlds from people like kiwi_tea who are eloquent and great with words. I, fortunately, am more gooder with smileys.

It's just more work. Now I'm off to test this latest of Deltas... the last I just uploaded and installed, well, I see forgot to reset their names on the lots- again.

MTS wouldn't allow Coconut Island 2.0 because it didn't include the rabbit holes. Which I suppose makes sense, but I'm not about to start sticking suburban rabbit holes on a tropical island. Or the fact that the POINT of Coconut Island was not to have to worry about work and school. Talk about stifling creativity!

Rflong, I have the Delta version and Its great! The world looks so real, you feel like your on the moon! Its amazing how a world with basicly only one terrain paint can looks so realistic, but the crators and sculpting are what make it look so believable.
Id like to know how you changed the moon to look like Earth though, thats simply amazing.
And on the subject of MTS. I used to upload stuff there back when I played sims 2 too but honestly, after trying to deal with their new standards for sims 3 content, I just dont want to bother anymore, I totaly understand where Summersong is coming from. Who wants to spend weeks or monthes even trying recreate something for their standerds after being rejected again and again.

Wow~ they didn't take Coconut Island? It is the point of the island... it's why it's in the description.

Hm, feeling oh so confident now.
...
I got the information from stw here: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/238319.page

I edited a picture of the earth and then imported it into the world files.

Having a "set in the sand" kind of standards for modthesims not only will leave them with very few worlds, it will eliminate all unusual worlds - which is sad because we can get the "Usual - standard fare from EA - and is why many of us who really want something different and Unique even get attracted to worlds with a difference like Rflongs Moon Bases world and like Prof Plumbbobs world. We have plenty of the sameo - sameo to pick from. MTS needs to cast out the Standard form when it comes to worlds in particular.

It is odd, back in Sims 2 when I wanted something unique and different in the way of Sims, and houses, and especially skins, it was always MTS I headed to. I am still grateful to them for finding Kiwi Tea (Tea and Blues) as is I'm sure creators, because it was he that developed the method to populate the worlds - but it seems the buck stops there. Instead of being innovative as MTS was always considered, they are becoming like elderly old people stuck in their rut of sameness and one size fits all retoric. A shame as they are the most well known of all user created websites, but they lose big time when they set a certain standard for worlds like that.

I do know if I want a good world, regardless of what the theme is, just go to where ever Rflong posts. Too bad MTS doesn't realize this!!!

MTS is great for script mods that change things in the game you want to do but EA didn't make a feature (like my fav. mod - click the floor and tell any sims in the house to 'clean house' haha). But I agree there isn't a lot to choose from in creative worlds and its a shame the standards prevent unusual creativity. I too love islands like Coconut Isle and others that don't have all of the hustle-bustle of modern sim-society. Don't they realize you CAN play Sims3 without careers and salons? ... in fact my sims who live on a tropical isle... who only write books, paint/sculpt/invent, grow vegetables and fish, etc are some of the happiest sims I've ever played! (this speaks volumes for our own modern human world being far too complicated!)...

Moon Base, and other unusual worlds that don't fit a 'mold' should get the attention and appreciation they deserve. I hope here you'll be able to have lots of fans and colonist sims for it.

Sorry RFLONG, I rambled off topic. Getting back to your situation, in light of what you told us their standards are for accepting a world, I am glad you did NOT pay attention to their standards when making this world. Thank goodness you followed your creative muse and did the world your way because frankly your standards are among the highest I've seen for a world and the quality and stability and playability are to be envied.

But confession--I discovered you via MTS. It was in a discussion about the special effects or shimmer that could be placed in a world. Someone posted a link to your thread on Oasis Island. I followed that link and found your work and was hooked on your work. And on this forum. I found myself less and less on MTS and more and more on here.

At some point you could possibly upload one of your CAW files there to get exposure via their site. They seem not to have as stringent requirements for CAW files.

I do feel a bit bad like I am trashing MTS and I don't mean to because I owe them so much for so many years of fun and providing an outlet for the work I did get up there. I deeply appreciate what they did for the cc artist community. I'm just frustrated because I think they could be more flexible and adapt better to the unique issues of Sims3.
