Wow, this city or town, whatever you want to call it, looks fantastic. I thinks it's the city Bridgeport should have been. It's colorful and prettier than Bridgeport, which I find is really gloomy and ugly. Great work, I'm yet to download your world, but trust me, in next half an hour I'll be happily playing it on my pc

So I'm confused I downloaded the town, and it downloaded fine, I opens the sims3 fine, I opened the town fine (I'm still confused on weather this is supposed to appear as a city or a suburb) and I started inhabiting the city, then I got tired and saved and quit, I go on the next day and nothing saved O.o help?

@Callum9432- thanks.
@itsjulie- That's fantastic, I'm glad there are still people out there who love Metrotopia. I was in a screenshot thread a while ago and it made me so happy when I saw that someone's pictures had been taken in my world.
@KateZee- thank you, you're very kind.
@DevroCat- that's strange. I don't really know what the problem could be I'm afraid, I'd suggest try saving in another world and see if you have the same problem. I tried to make Metrotopia a city and it worked in my game, but then it wouldn't let me upload the sims3pack that was a city so it is just a suburb world.
Sadly there will not be any future updates to Metrotopia as my CAW files somehow got corrupted. If you do download, you might want to try removing the CC if it lets you, I had trouble.

A shame to see your CAW files got corrupted, but it is possible to make the neighborhood file into CAW files with the right program. If you ever decide on continuing.
I still got the CC-Free world I downloaded to test long time ago. If you need it I can try to upload it.
But I have decided to start "re-building" it to my style. I really like your design and having a city area and "valley" area is just what I like. So I will get to work on that soon hopefully, tho I would have preferred if you did it
In any case good luck if you decide to take it up again. Else good luck on your next project.

Hi there, I am one of the first downloaders/testers of Metrotopia a while ago, and it's a shame you lost the CAW files. However, I managed to edit the world file nonetheless, and I fixed quite a bunch of things for the town (such as occasional lag and a routing problem for the lower bridge). I have CAW files and if you want I can show you how to do it yourself. I love Metrotopia, by far the best city I ever played.

Hi Shoni. Thank you so much for the compliment, do you know how I can do that? I did do quite thorough testing before uploading Metrotopia though sadly some lag still got through so I'd love to know how you got rid of some of it.

Well it was mostly about the CC it was included, some of them were corrupted. There was also a routing issue on the lower bridge (I do not know why) and fixing it totally removed the lag.

Oh ok, I checked the bridges for routing errors but must have missed one.
Did you say you have the CAW files?

I do, but I only have the CAW files for my version of the city, I edited quite a bunch of things here and there (for personal taste) and added Pets spawners through the world. I will post some pics to show it later.
Nevertheless, if you just want your Metrotopia's files just the way they were originally (without my modifications) I could eventually re-do the process and upload the CAW files for you.

I'd be interested to see those. I have no real plans or uses for the CAW files at the moment, but if I change my mind can you upload them later on?

Alexspoon, just letting you know that users cannot remove CC put in a world in CAW - that is why I will never test a world where the creator uses CC. CC put in a world in CAW forms attachments and nothing on this planet can remove that.
If users were playing these worlds in CAW, then what you are asking them to do would be possible, but we don't. Your world never changes outside of CAW, because USERS play your world on a new layer - we call Save Files - and our save files are basically nothing but clothing added on top of a body. We can cover up something in the world, but we cannot eliminate anything. Removing content in a save file never removes the programming or the fact the game still sees that content still where it was, while we see it gone in our save files. So technically all we are doing is adding another layer of clothing over the offending object, but never removing it. It is the equivalent of putting a bandaid on top of a cancerous mole. Without getting the mole removed properly and the area treated, we are still going to have a cancerous mole under that bandaid.
So just like only a creator could totally remove a cancerous mole, users can't penetrate the Seal formed in a world that is removed from CAW. We could see a doctor to remove a mole, likewise we might be able to find a mod to render the CC useless, but we can't remove it from your sealed world. Only by taking the world into CAW can the seal be penetrated and the CC removed. Even creators find that somewhat tedious and sometimes have to go down layers to the spot they added the content to remove it, as you obviously found out. Going down layers can mean having to redo all the layers you added after you added that content. You can get past the corruption in your world by going down to the layer before you used the offending content, but being human nature, most of us would rather toss out something then have to redo the whole thing.
This my friend is my main reason for objecting to a creators use of CC in a world, because the minute EA changes the programming, and that content is affected by the changes negatively, your entire world becomes useless. So unless Creators are willing to take their worlds back into CAW and constantly rebuild the world with every game changing update or EP, they really should leave the using of CC to the individuals that play the world on save files and not in CAW.
To prove what I say is true - play your game with the published world, and go remove some content, save the game. Quit.
Now go back into the game and start up the world - not your save file, but the world with a new save file and what do you see? Not a single change you applied to the world during your last save has in any manner changed the world itself. All offending content still in place. Your save file did nothing but put a bandaid over the bad content and rendered it invisible - but it is still there in that world and still doing what it did to start with, only you don't see it. Eventually your save is going to corrupt because of the conflicting information between the save file you are playing on and the original file that is the world itself.
The only way to avoid that kind of massive conflict is to avoid potential troublemakers - which as nice as CC is, we all know that changes in programming can render even the best made CC troublesome, game breaking, or bad because the game programming itself only recognizes OFFICIAL content to give new commands to. Like it or not that is the way programming works. So I constantly tell creators not to use CC if you are making a world to share - so what it is a wee bit less shiny in your eyes, at least you don't have to worry about it all imploding with every game change. Leave the CC use to the users, and your world will be around and useable for a long, long time to come, while the CC using Creators will be going through what you are going through now.
Yeah CC worlds are remarkable to look at, during the time they are first made - but as a game player who actually wants to play a world for a long time to come, I am always going to choose the world that was made more remarkable by the Creators ability to use game made content in remarkable way, then the world with all the shiny and imaginational filled content, because I know that sparkly world is doomed with the next big update.
Prime examples of remarkable worlds made with nothing but EA content is numerous - from Rflongs worlds, to Johnny Wrs to Sim Realtors to Doc Sprout, Ed Haughts - I could go on and on. These are the worlds people play for years, not just weeks or a few months. But where are all the CC engorged worlds that people oohed and awed over a few months ago?

I am sorry to contradict you, but you obviously do not know about a tool named Custard. With that tool I managed to extract and delete all CCs included in the world file, install the CC-free world and play it. This city is remarkable, very big and with lots of lots.
@alexspoon, I will post some pics as soon as I got time
