CRASH TO DESKTOP - Possible Solution

Every single time I attempt to load a saved game on World Adventures it gets part of the way through loading then crashes to desktop. No error message, nothing. This never happened before I installed patch 2.3.33. I have tried many of the fixes suggested by people but none of them have worked ): If anyone has the same problem and has found a fix, then I'd appreciate your help (:

I am having a similar problem. I have a family of 3 in France. Two are at the Base Camp, one is on an adventure in an underground tomb. I deleted the files mentioned at the beginning of this thread, although I can't find the WORLDCACHE directory. I just tried moving my downloaded content (I have no mods installed) to a temporary location but it still crashed. Lot detail is set to 4 as is recommended. I am running a high-end computer with Windows Vista Media Edition. My system also meets the minimum requirements to run the game. I hope a new patch is made available soon to resolve this issue because I feel like putting my foot through the monitor.

After trying ALL the fixes posted in this thread, including the fps limiter and STILL having random 5 - 20 minute crashes, I've found something that seems to have worked in eliminating my random game crashes.
I UPDATED my nvidia card to the latest update and started opening my game from the TS3EP01 file and NOT the S3Launcher. 3 Hours gameplay on Saturday, 4.5hrs Sunday & Monday and 4hrs hours play yesterday - no crashes. I am ridiculously happy that I can play now

Okay so im really needing help.
I just got a brand new computer, it has window 7 on it. I have downloaded both of the sims 3 games & they where working fine so i downloaded some custome content. I when back in it & it worked fine. SO then i when to download some more custome content & when i click on the game it only played the opening scence then it just exited it out. I dont understand whats wronge.

BTW I have Uninstallied & Reinstalled both sims games. They still doing it.

you could try the solution that sidfu posted on page 20 of this thread, the one about downloading cff explorer and modifying the exe in order to let the game use more than 2 gb of memory, it has worked for me at least, I have been playing for hours without trouble. Any other crash, and I will try the fpslimiter

I don't think it's necessary to describe the nature of my problem with the game...

I faced numerous problems since I updated it to the latest patch (blue lots, launcher crashing, game crashing etc). Somehow, everything was working ok from one point and on.

The thing is, that I installed a new HDD a few days ago (note: the new HDD is EXACTLY the same make and model as the old one), installed the base game and WA, and guess what? It crashes to desktop every single time, after 5' max of gameplay.

I too have a NVIDIA GForce 9500, and the driver used is 195.64. I have tried to use previous versions of the driver but nothing works on the computer. So 195.64 is absolutely necessary in order to keep my pc working.

I have a friend who was too anxious to wait for the release of SIMS3 in our country (Greece), so he went on and bought a pirate copy (version 1.0.0.something). So what I did yesterday was to get the copy from him, uninstalled my copies (which I paid around 90 euros in total), and guess what? Everything is working perfectly!!!

So, forget about the NVIDIA theories, and focus on the faulty patches that EA released and completely mess up our games. Unless EA does something to fix this, no drivers on earth can solve the problem.

I haven't played the sims for a while and decided to play it again recently. I installed the latest update which is 1.8 or something. My pc is completely capable of playing this game and has played it before. Since the update the game freezes for a couple of seconds then crashes back to the desktop. I've just uninstalled it all and reinsatalled it again. I started playing it then while building my house, it frooze and crashed. My monitor went into standby and I had to restart using the power button.

Who else can play their game but then crashes after a while after this update?

I haven't played my Sims game for a while as I've been more interested by the CAW beta tool, however, I recently got a bit bored of it and decided to play the actual game. I only have the base game but had to download the latest patch when I downloaded CAW. I played the game for several hours with no problems whatsoever. I did notice though that there were a few new textures available in my game post-patch that appeared to be 'china' or 'egypt' themed. I have no idea if adding new textures to the base game users via the new patch was intentional and if everyone has these new textures or if this was some one off fluke and I'm the only one with these textures.

Either way, I digress. The next day I started up the game and this time it crashed half an hour or maybe an hour in. After that, it kept crashing with a higher frequency and eventually my launcher stopped working. I kept receiving the whole 'Sims3Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close' message. So after that I went and installed a bunch of Windows Updates for my computer (which I don't usually enjoy doing because on more than one occasion they have only ever caused more problems). But after that the launcher started working again.

Yay, right? No, the game still crashes and even though ever since I bought Sims 3 I've been experiencing mild crashes here and there (it comes and goes), I can't help but think that this is connected to the latest patch. I uninstalled EADM and deleted the cache files indicated at the start of this thread, but aren't really surprised that it didn't work. I'll have to try removing mods and cc next but hope that this isn't the problem either since without them I feel the game can be a little drab.

Anyway, that's my two cents regarding crash to desktop crashes. I never remember having any problems with Sims 1 or 2, what on earth happened EA? The amount of people who have difficultly playing the game is concerning

I too am having multiple crashes the last few days, but I was attributing it to my downloaded worlds (plus one I created). I'll have to go in and play the original ones to see if it keeps crashing. I also deleted cache files and used no custom content but still my game crashed. I had not had one crash before this... and I've played for 12 hours straight on many weekends.

It's the latest update to the game! I have the base pack and it ran fine until the update. Will EA sort this out! It's obviously effecting ALOT of customers!

I think the whole situation is a joke... Why all of a sudden have we got a game that most of us have paid good money for that isn't working? EA don't seem to be giving us any answers. Instead they release yet another expansion pack for sims 3 without sorting out the PROBLEM.. WILL SOMEONE AT EA REALISE WE NEED TO HAVE THIS CRASHING PROBLEM SORTED. Obviously it's not down to peoples computers not being good enough, it's just lazy programming..

I got a DasmX86dll.dll not found problem which cause my game to CTD.
It started after I downloaded a very popular mansion from the Exchange.

SET HIGH DETAILED LOTS NO HIGHER THAN 4

How do you know the whether the lots are 4 or what ever?

We haven't had a new patch in a while. I am going to do the things you say do but, I don't think it is right that we should get rid of the mods ect to play the game. They made the game where you could be creative and use the mods now the game won't work with them. I am sorry but the hair and the clothes in the store leave a lot to be desired. They aren't very creative making them. And actually the way they set it up to let people be creative is what makes the game fun and interesting.

But thanks for the suggestions on things to do. I am going to try all of it. Why not the game won't play anyway. I keep loosing everything.

I had only one crash today and that was caused by my laptop going into sleep mode.
In the log it's listed as the same problem DasmX386dll.dll not found but I read it's actually just an artifact of the error. So it covers up what really happened I think.
I disabled my Windows Sidebar from starting up when Windows starts to speed up my computer starting. Maybe my Windows Sidebar caused my game to CTD but it didn't start until after I downloaded a custom content of a lot from the exchange.
Update: I was trying to open the pool menu in build mode when the game crashed.
This is crash two for my day. Sidebar is open when it crashed so let me see if it happens again without sidebar.
Update 2: Looks like my game only crashes when I try to open the pool menu.
Sidebar has nothing to do with Sims 3. But, I do have Norton Protection Center, but I'll soon switch to Kaspersky Internet Security as the Norton will expire soon.

EA with another bug infested release. Good job! The game crashes out EVERYTIME. Sometimes to windows (turns the desktop into 4 bit) but most of the time it just closes the PC down completely. I have tried everything people have said on these forums to try and stop it, but none work for me, thanks to those who have tried helping in this thread. I thought it may not be compatible with my graphics card (ASUS 1GB EAH4350 Silent HDMI) so tried it on my flat mates laptop with the same problem occuring. Oh the game was also updated to the latest patch on both systems. I have since stopped 4 of my friends buying it, informing them of the shoddy release.
