the drivers also cause problems on a gtx 295, looks like nvidia has a lot of work to do.

Same story here....been working on it every since World Adventures came out. I've tried every combination my computer would let me. My family is already making fun of me for my Sims addiction........think I will just go curl up in a ball somewhere and cry for a while. Someone buzz me when they have a solution -.-

We should start a 'sim3 withdrawal support' page for those of us who can no longer play and are starting to have withdrawal systems such as cuddling and talking to a sack of flower. Stopping what we are doing every few minutes for a good cry.

The Sims 3 World Adventures has just totaly crashed on me to the point I can not start the game or even uninstall it. Error message 505 keeps poping up. I have done everthing I can think of to fix this problem I am one more frustration from throwing the games away can somebody please help me. I lowered my NVIDIA graphics card but it just seems to make the problem worse everthing worked fine till the expansion pack. Now the base game won't even play.

I got World Adventures todday and it won't play. It comes up with "there was an error on startup. PLease see the log for more details!" What log???I cannot play Sims 3 at all now whereas it was working fine.
We have Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS on windows XP. Anyone got any advice on what I should do? Complete novice when it comes to this sort of thing!

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT, and I updated it last month, is that what's causing my game to crash? If so, is there any way I can "undo" the update?

I JUST started crashing to desktop after patching my game and installing WA. I have NOT updated my drivers since the base game came out since everything was working fine prior to the latest patch.
I’ve seen suggestions to update drivers to fix the crash-to-desktop issue so have been trying to find the version my video card would require. I have a Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ running on Windows XP 32 bit. My current version # of the driver says it's 6.14.0011.8585, which is nothing like the version number SimGuru BGY is saying has the conflict.
So now I’m not sure what I should be downloading to update my driver without getting the most recent “bad” driver. Does anyone know if the older driver that is being suggested (190.62) is the correct driver I should download for my particular video card?

If you're running Windows XP, try this:
First and foremost, create a system restore point before adding any program or changing any device on your computer. There's probably an easier way to do it than what I do...but I go to the Control Panel and click on "help and Support" in the left hand pane. From there I choose System Restore from the "pick a task" section and create a restore point. I'm not sure how else to access it if your system is not set up similar to mine. By creating a restore point, you can always revert your PC back to that time.
I have not tried this myself, but I have found an option to roll back your video device driver:
- Go to Control Panel and double click on System. This should open a System Properties Dialog Box
- In the System Properties Dialog Box, click on the tab titled "Hardware" and then click Device Manager. This should open the Device Manager window.
- In the Device Manager window, click on the "+" sign next to "display adapters". Hopefully you'll see your particular video device listed there. Double click on your video display device to open the properties dialog box.
- In the properties dialog box, click on the tab titled Driver, and choose "Roll Back Driver".
Hopefully this will work for you. Don't forget to create a restore point before trying just in case something doesn't work right.
Good luck!

I have been using the latest drivers and playing the base game with no problems whatsoever. I was also able to play the base game with the patches ok. Only since I have installed WA has the crashing to desktop started.
Windows 7 x64, nVidia 8800 GTX and 9107 drivers.

I had this issue that The Sims 3 caused Windows to crash to a blue screen with the driver when i tried to load The Sims 3. I went back to an older driver and The Sims 3 ran without the computer crashing.
I have:
Windows XP SP3
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE 512 MB VRAM
eMachines EL1200-05w
