What relationship are they: Childhood Friends

How are they opposite? How aren't they opposite?: Micheal is a very smart and athletic student who wants to achieve perfection no matter what, he's also a very quiet guy who's not very popular between the other students and the teacher tend to love him by his skills and respect... On the other hand Takumi is a punk kid who doesnt care about studies and doesn't care about his future, he's very popular between the other students he skips classes he responds to teachers.

Back Story: When Micheal was only 6 he found a young boy crying under a cherry tree next to the lake, he closed his book and aproached the youngster, he poked him in the back, the boy was still crying and didnt care about the poke, Micheal didnt give up yet he poked him in the forehead the kid was getting annoyed and looked slightly at Micheal, uknowing what the kid would do Micheal scratched his head and sat next to the boy, he looked at him and asked the reason why he's crying. No answer. He asked one more time but this time the boy looked at him with watery eyes and told him that his parents have died in a car crash. Micheal opened his eyes fully as the boy hugged him. When the other stoped crying Micheal loked at him and asked for his name the kid responded "Takumi..." the bells of the college near by rang and Micheal stood up and gave Takumi a small present the book he was reading and since then he saw the boy every week for 7 months... until the boy left to Tokyo.
10 years latter
He founds himself entering a professional college... he saw the same boy that was under the tree "I still have yer book" the boy said as he read.

was it to make it about how they met or... how oposite they were? because i was confused at that part ^^;
