I have been using the disk for a while ((so it can't be one of those blank disks they accidentally sold)), but recently I've been having problems with my launcher (E.G I press the play button and nothing happens/it says "Not Responding") and when it does work, it loads the game and says something about inserting the sims 3 pets disk and I press "retry" and it still comes up and I tried cleaning the disk and everything XP

I am going mad without my sims is there any way to make me not need the disk or something?

Hi,

First, ensure that the game disc is not damaged or scratched. Cleaning the disc and the DVD drive internals with a cleaning kit may help. If you have multiple DVD drives, try the game disc in another drive unit. For your specific issue please refer to the following EA Support article:

https://help.ea.com/article/RN2248

You can also try out the following troubleshooting steps to fix the disc detection issue:

1 - Look at your disc and verify you do not have a faulty or scratched up disc.
2 - Make sure your DVD drive does not have any discs in it.
3 - Quit all programs.
4 - Click on the Start Menu.
5 - Click on Control Panel.
6 - Double-click on the System icon.
7 - Make sure your Control Panel is set to Classic View. If not, click on the Switch to Classic View option.
8 - Click on the Hardware tab.
9 - Click on Open Device Manager.
10 - Click on the '+' sign next to DVD/CD-ROM drives to expand its options.
11 - You should see all your DVD/CD ROMS.
12 - Right-click on the DVD ROM you are using to play the game.
13 - Select Uninstall from the list of options.
14 - Reboot your computer immediately.

Give your computer a few minutes to re-detect your DVD drive (this should happen automatically). Insert the game disc and try to launch your game again.

If your issue is still not resolved, verify that the software drivers for the DVD drive are in fact functioning properly and that the DVD drive controller is set to DMA Mode. You can also replace the DVD drive unit with another model either purchased or borrowed. The Sims 3 disc (and its subsequent expansions) apparently has issues with certain optical drives due to the way it was stamped at manufacturing.

You can alternatively use your Pets disc serial code to redeem a digital download version of the game from the EA Store at no cost to you. This is made possible through the Origin download manager client. To register the game through Origin you will need to proceed to the following page:

https://activate.ea.com/applyentitlement.do

The latest version of the Origin client can be downloaded from the following link:

http://origin.com/download

Before installing the digital download game, you will need to uninstall the disc version of that game first. For any problems with code redemption you may contact Support via the following page:
