I would like to see EA add in a way for users to tag or mark work that is created, a mark that is permanently embedded in the file and cannot be removed but can be added to. It could be a required text box you fill out when "sharing" a creation so you can put in your username, from then on it's a permanent fixture to the .sims3pack file and always stays with the lot / sim whenever it's installed (even if it's copied within the game or placed and readded to the library or anything).

So when Person A creates and shares an item it is marked "Created by Person A", if Person B downloads it and changes some things (makes it better / different) they can add their name to it as "Modified by Person B". Here's an example..

I make a simple house with some landscaping on a big lot, there's lots of space for future construction. Colin the Construction Worker downloads it and plays with it a bit, he adds in a couple of extra rooms, maybe builds a garage and redecorates some then uploads it again.. the lot info would read something like this

First upload
Name: Simple House
Created by: Feldynn
Lot desc.: A simple house on a big lot, with room for expansion.

Second upload
Name: Simple House
Created by: Feldynn
Modified by: Colin_CW
Lot desc.: A simple house on a big lot, lots of rooms and a garage!

That way, the original creator will always get credit for their work and anyone that modifies / reuploads the lot will also get credit for any changes.. this should also apply to sims and anything else.

Hopefully it would put a stop to people taking someone else's creation and trying to claim it as their own by just copying / reuploading it.

I suggested something similar awhile ago, I just said that when the person uploads their work to the site they should be given the option for people to be able to re-upload it or not.

this would be perfect! both, the extra-textbox as well as the ability to decide wether one allows re-upload or not.
fingers crossed for us all that such a feature will be installed soon!
thanks for posting this feldynn

Very good idea
It's completely UNFAIR that some people get the credit for things other players worked really hard on. I hope we see this feature introduced...and soon...

This would be VERY nice, and might make it easier for people to find genuinely custom content as opposed to content recolors. I have no problem with recolors, but it would be nice to have a way for people to be able to display the work they've done.

Agreed

There should be a tab in the exchange to sort out the originals form the edited content.

a mark & a reupload option, absolutely !
why does EA still not care for the copyrights of the CC creators ?

also, such a mark in the game itself of course would be very helpful
