Writin_Reg wrote:After seeing that, I know I could never go back to sims 2. Boy you can definitely tell the difference in the realistic and more alive way sims 3 looks compared to how Sims 2 looks on your pc DM. Sort of bland in comparisom. Those never ending dinner conversations, I was always speeding them up - as what meal take 4 hours or more to eat? yep everytime now I see a sims 2 picture I wonder how people do go back and enjoy that. Granted they had some behaviors I did like - like playing with their kids and all - I even thought all that looked good, until I see you redo them and they don't (although better than they looked before your redo) but if you can't make them look great and alive, I know I surely couldn't, DM.
I compared that picture to your wedding pic and a couple others I see on here of sims 3, and what a difference it makes with Sims 3 graphics compared to Sims 2. Just WOW.
That's the same reason I could never go back to Sims 1 as much as I loved that game - the way everything looks - that dead eye look, and flatness of everything.
Granted I do wish Sims 3 sims had more of the interactions, just at abit faster pace than those longgg dinners, but other than that I will happily stay with Sims 3.
IMHO, graphics aren't everything. The lack of actual gameplay in TS3 is the issue for me. But I like both games, so I play both, and I still enjoy both. Works for me!

That's what counts for sure. Like I said I miss a few of the interactions, like the things with kids, but there is not very much I do miss compared to things I didn't like about Sims 2. I liked their map system and the fact even I could make maps using my Sim City 4 - I enjoyed creating things in Sims 2, so I actually was like a lot of Sims 3 players that prefer to create over play it - also some reactions they got annoyed me. Not being able to cross the street and say hi really annoyed me especially downtown when my sims needed to go to a store or place across the street a cab would come. I found that annoying and dumb. The way sims anger worked - it took forever to fix anger in that game. I know I was obsessed to make the Capps and Monty's one big happy family. Aging was too fast, and college was too slow. Getting star ratings for running a business or fail I did not like as I just wanted a small business for my elders to have something to do, and because they didn't get the rating the business always failed. On top of it I was not at all happy with OFB as it seemed my sims did nothing but run the store and managed other sims. They had no life. Then I would have to go to each household and do the same thing over to keep the sims aging right.
But to me playing the game was more work than fun, so all those great reactions I generally missed once the game got past Uni. But I suppose if I didn't mind repeating all the same actions in town with every household it wouldn't have bothered me so much. By the time Seasons came out, I did like Seasons, I just gave up on trying to keep everyone aging and things and just pretended that little child my sim went to grade school with just vanished and the little kid playing with my sims kid was just a clone or something. But of course the game made sure I knew that sims as that kid was always calling my sim up to talk.
But those are some of the things besides graphics that used to annoy me, especially playing legacies. But yeah, the graphics bother me because I figure if you can't make them look stupendous, then nobody can. You are unbelieveably talented with decor, sim make overs, and houses as well as pictures. Not me I am lousy at a lot of that stuff. Don't even want to talk pics - there I am useless.
I just like the way the game works now and I don't have to worry about any sims but the ones I want to play.
So to me, it is better on that virtue alone, never mind amazing graphics and a more 3 D look to everything.

Oh TS2 is a looooong way from being perfect. I use a ton of mods to get rid of some of the more annoying things in the game, believe me. There are tons of things about TS3 that I love as well, the open hood, CAS, and graphics to name a few.
Personally I would love to see the two games combine to make one ideal sims game for me. The interactions from 2 and the other things I mentioned from 3. I would be in Sims heaven!

Aww shucks, thank you. I've seen some of your pictures in slideshows and they are good! I've also used some of your builds, so perhaps you underestimate your abilities.

Thanks. Yeah, that would be cool for Sims 4 if they combined. Like for instance the cut scene - I loved those - some of them anyway. And connecting some town like we could make a chain of towns to our main town. So I would love maybe add the loading screens just for worlds we could combine together. It would be cool to connect Rflongs worlds together. So yeah, that'd be the best idea, but most definitely also keep the open hoods when we are in each section. WA worlds are like the loading screen, so it is not impossible. But most definitely agree - put them together - we'd love it, or I'm sure many of us would.

DM I totally agree with you. I also used a ton of mods in Sims 2 to get rid of annoying, silly, repetivie stuff. I have a difficult time going back to playing S2, though. If they combined the things I loved from 2 with the things I love from 3, I so agree, I would be estatic!
So I think I mentioned that Gemmy Deviant just had twins - and she already had a toddler. Her fiance Gary Hickman is the dad; when he came home from the hospital with her after the birth of the twins, I had Gemmy invite him to move in. The next day they held their wedding in one of the wedding lots in alex's Surburban Shores which I am helping to test when I have the time. I thought I'd share a few pics from the occasion.
First up is Keven Red Star, who seemed to enjoy himself with the karoke machine. Sorry the pictures are a little dark; the lot needs more outside lighting, I think.
Meanwhile Reggie was playing for tips. There's GW, and that's the groom right behind her. He's in the business career so he should be able to provide well his wife and kids.
Later, Jordan was spotted dancing with Kevin - watch yourself around that heartbreaker, Jordan!
And here's a few pics of the actual ceremony. I'm not sure whether Reggie was crying because she was hungry or because of the occasion. The young sim on the right, the brunette in pigtails, the one standing right behind GW, is one of the Riley/Gray Winters' daughters who is now a teen. SP hooked Riley and Gray up in my SV2 game and I saved them to my bin, and now I often put them in my test hoods.
Here's another shot of the crowd. Tangie is wearing the dress you bought, Rukaya.
Ahhh! Aren't weddings beautiful? And that's Tangie sitting on the right; I thoguht her expression was hilarious. Oh, and I should have done something else with Gemmy's hair, but I rushed them to the alter the day after Gary moved in.

Glad to see more pics of the wedding, Tangie. LOL, I often skip adding the wedding veil, especially if I really like the day to day hair used.
Gad, I, too, ran at least 20 of Pescado's mods to get TS2 to where it played well. LOL, makes one wonder if it would have been as enjoyable without those being available. Thank goodness for the modding community for both TS2 and TS3, LOL. BTW, V63 is an update to Twallan's OW that is now available.
I'm still testing Suburban Springs but my pic is from DM's GFH that I hadn't posted yet. Kevin Red Star is such a kick to play and in this pic, he had me LOLing.

Great pics Tangie and DD! Thanks for sharing those.
This picture convinced me that I want this new world "Lucky Palms" which will be released tomorrow.
I think this world is gorgeous! EA has really stepped up their game in creating worlds and content.

Oh my goodness! That is just a gorgeous picture. I feel I could step right into that. Most definitely have to have this new town. Of course I had already decided that, but this picture confirms one of the reasons why.
Yes I totally agree, by golly I think EA finally "got it". I definitely can see myself moving some of my fav sims into here tomorrow night. Pete just told me my check was already in my account. I also plan to pre-order Supernatural today, but the price of this world will determine whether or not I get the Diesel sp. That one was sort of meh, as I was actually more interested in something for the kids and teens too and it does seem to be mostly jeans. How many pairs or types of jeans does a sim need anyway? Had they perhaps added that industrial kitchen it would have made me definitely want that pack too, but after thinking about this pack since yesterdays chat, now I am sort of rethinking it. I know I want SN and I know I want this world tomorrow - so...
Anyway, I totally look forward to be running around in this world tomorrow night.
I know one other thing I will be doing is running around Mesa Valley and adding some very much needed yuca plants, Joshua trees, and prickly pears. As wonderful as I have always found that Rflong world, I was always sad it didn't have the proper desert fauna. So this world is not only nice to have it makes it possible for me to dress up my other fav worlds too. I hope that mirrored water affect shows in all worlds - probably won't but I can dream. I love that look.
ETA: Great pic Tangie. I would guess Reggie was actually crying over the wedding - she just like her counter part are big blubber faces at weddings. I don't know why but send me to a wedding or a new born baby's birth and my hard shell just vanishes into a wall of blubbering tears. Just plain silly, but me. Food is not something I would cry over even if I was starving. But let the vows start and it's all over... hehehehe - I love weddings and new babies and puppies and kittens and....

Thanks for sharing those screenshots here Tangie and DD. And thanks for sharing that preview pic of Lucky Palms DM. Ugh...I guess I'm the only one here who is starting to intensely dislike that world based on the previews. Actually that's mild--loathe would be more accurate to describe my reaction to it. I guess I'll be saving my money-unless there's something else in that package I just have to have. But I guess everyone's got different tastes!
Happy Simming everyone.

There isn't a shred of doubt in my mind that I want Lucky Palms. JM, I would almost bet that at some point you get it only because of the desert flora. These are the first plants we have had that will work so perfectly in a desert world and I'll take them anyway I can get them, LOL. Especially being able to have them as EA content rather than 3rd party cc that could break at any time.
Gem, are you around? I heard your name bantied about for EA giving us back the lost roof during the chat. Problem was, it still didn't look like the right color to me. What did you think? Am I right, wrong? Anyone else notice this part in the chat? If it's not the right roof, stay after getting it back for us, Gem. So nice to see her/your efforts acknowledged
And, of course, a screenshot:
"No, no, I will NOT laugh at the bouncing belly!"

Great pics, DD.
I'm leaving soon to go pick up my brother at the airport, which is a two hour drive. At least it's a nice day for a drive.
I'm surprised you don't like it JM, since it's a desert town and you seemed to like Simbody's and Rflongs desert worlds. It is very large, though, and your Mac will probably have trouble running it based on the past comments you've made. Hope your daughter is healthy and that you're feeling better.
I'm definitely getting the new world, but I might wait until Sunday since I won't have access to my desktop pc until then. So I'll be looking forward to hearing all about it from those who get it in the next few days. please let us know what you think!
Ps I'm on the iPad so any and all spelling errors can be blamed on it.

Yahoo, I just purchased the standard LP. I am looking forward to getting in there and start playing. Just got back from shopping with my daughter and my gd, Amalie and have to take care of some things so hopefully I can play after that. I am going to place the Regency Arcade in place of the casino, and then I will see what else I want to do. Wow that is expensive for a download world but the gold version is really expensive.
I watched the rerun of the Diesal live chat and except for a few outfits am not that impressed. I am curious as to what they plan to charge. It seems like everytime they come out with a SP or EP. the price has gone up. Ouch . I figure I can always buy the few outfits that I did like separately.
Love everybody's pictures. As much as I enjoyed sims2 I can't really go back to playing it on a regular basis.. I didn't use mods either but I did dl a bunch of cc and had fun with it, until I reached a point where I had reinstall the entire thing. I decided then and there no more cc for me. Well the cats are pestering me so among other things that have to be done right now, I need to play with them, brush them and give them some tlc. Take care everybody.

Rukay - Diesel is the standard price for a SP - it's 19.95.
Yay, I also have LP, but not thanks to myself - thanks to a very lovely Simmer who gifted the ST version. I already have the Casino, so that's all I needed.
As you noticed in a previous post I said I definitely wanted to get it and had planned to. I was juggling my availiable funds as I knew I was pre-ordering Supernatural, and that meant (the way my account works) I cannot touch the money for anything ordered once it is ordered until it is paid - so I figured 40 dollars for SN and 7 dollars for shipping I'd still most likely/hopefully be okay to get this world and get all my meds next month - then my good samaritan hubby decided to do me a favor, seeing I had yet to pre-order before I went to bed last night, and he took it upon himself to go to my Origin account and pre-order SN for me, as well as the Diesel stuff pack - which I had decided to wait on seeing I was positive I couldn't get that and this world too and still have money for all my prescriptions. As if that wasn't bad enough he decided to get the fastest delivery which is a whooping 15.99 and something I never, ever use - I usually get the 7dollar 3-4 day delivery. So not only was this way more money than I had planned, it guaranteed I could not get this world. So I was bumming.
I know, silly of me bumming over a sim world, but fact was, I was bumming as I woke up all excited it was coming out today, and eagerly went about doing my chores so I could free up the afternoon - not noticing the note Pete had left on my desk until I finally sat down here with a fresh cup of coffee, and was powering up the pc to go to the Sims store - and then I saw it - the NOTE - "Hi Hon, I took the liberty of ordering your game for you, as I noticed you hadn't... blah, blah, blah" and then I got to the point in the note that said, "I also noticed you didn't order the new stuff pack, and you have the funds, so that's taken care of as well and you get it all with just one shipping charge...blah, blah, blah"
Oh no, I said... there was also a reference number for me to check my order - so off to Origin I went - at least he made sure he ordered the disk versions - that was a Godsend... but my 80 dollars I had availiable this month - well now Origin had 76 dollars of it - so that solved that. As I was not going through what I needed to go through to cancel an order with my account - I did that once and never again - it just is not worth it with Government ran Federal accounts. It is Hades on a summer day to say the least. So I consigned myself, no LP for me til the end of July. I would simply thank my DH for being such a dear and fay I was delighted when I wanted to cry... that's okay, I had all day to get over it, and just enjoy all the posts...
And then out of somewhere a trumpet sounded... and the skies parted, and an angel by the name of RoseRidge came down and gifted the wonderful world of Lucky Palms to me! I am honored and awestruck and she made my day...
All that being said... thanks to RoseRidge and her generosity I'm off to Lucky Palms - but I just had to share how wonderful Simmers are here. I never said a word and it was just as if she knew... Blessings to RoseRidge and everyone... a happy, happy simmer here says good day!!! Hugz all, Reggie.

I do like desert worlds but I've never been a fan of Palm Springs for some reason. I've got no idea why. It messes with my head somehow...I love the Old West style like in the old Westerns, which explains my love for Castle Canyon. Or I like the strange partially abandoned or hidden feeling of Strangetown. Even though RFlong took Mesa Valley in a new direction it always kept an air of mystery and history about it. But Palm Springs and Lucky Palms? I guess they are too Resort-ish for me. Gah...I don't know it just bugs me and I can't really figure out why. Then it didn't help there were all these people posting stuff like "EA take my money now" and I guess I'm still grumpy about all the unfixed bugs festering to the point we can't always access all the stuff EA already took our money for. I find the price absolutely appalling, too. And the cacti are still nothing to write home about. I want a real big cactus you can hang your ten gallon hat on! And they should be free in a patch.
But yeah I'm still sick and I've had a rough week and had a lot of stress from missed appointments and letting people down, so maybe I'm just grumpy or something. Don't mind me, enjoy the world and post lots of great pics.
I was trying to think who Kevin reminded me of in that screen shot above and it hit me, he looks like a tan Rick Springfield. I don't know if anyone remembers who that is but he was a singer and soap opera star in the 1980's. I had a huge crush on him once upon a time. For some weird reason I think I might have seen him in person at one time but I can't remember. I must be going senile. Maybe it was my sister in law who met him. She's met a lot of celebrities in her clubbing days.

I love this new world! I've been having a blast playing in it. BTW, it's just as nice as the screenshots portray.
If anyone is interested, I put up a few pics of Darren and Darlene at the wishing well on my blog. You might get a kick out of them! http://darkmiragesdiscourse.blogspot.com/2012/06/big-huge-thank -you.html
Reg, I was gifted this world today by a very generous simmer as well. Apparently I had several people waiting to ambush me!
