The slip and slide has slipped out of Generations and into KPST. One thing that got me interested in the content for Generations, beside the strollers was the Slip and Slid.
I really an getting tired of finding that stuff I thought would be unique to the EP i bought (in other words would not be turned into a base game object everyone had without buying the EP) becomes SP property and handed out like Candy.
So now the slip and slide is going to be available in the SP. If this keeps up there will be no need to buy EP's except for the game play aspect cause you know an SP will come along and give away the good content. Okay they changed the arches to look like candy ribbons instead of animals but its still the slip and slide.
They did this with the Fireworks from WA too in this SP. Wonder what else they are going to take from EP's and give away? Okay, so as far as EA might be concerned, either way - with the EP or SP - you paid for it.
But if you have the Gen EP and buy the KPST you are paying for it twice. It also means if you have the EP that's one less 'new content' you are getting in the KPST mega stuff pack because you already have it. Same for the WA EP and the fireworks. You now pay twice for that object. This would make it two less of the content in this super mega pack. Wonder how much more they will 'give away' so you only need the base game to use EP content?

They've done this before for some of the recent stuff packs so I'm not surprised that they're taking more "unique" items and doing it again.
Outdoor Living had hot tubs from Late Night. OLS actually had MORE hot tubs than LN offered.
Town Life gave us more washers and dryers that Ambitions brought us, not to mention that not long after Ambitions came out, they added a lot more laundry options to the store. TLS also gave us spring rides and tree houses that Generations had, so that pack actually took from 2 EP's.
There might have been more that I'm forgetting, however, I don't think more examples are needed to prove my point. They've done it before, they're doing it again, and it won't surprise me if they keep doing it. I'm not too upset though really, stuff packs are supposed to add more stuff and I'm all for more options of items (even the unique ones) to add more variety. They really should stop trying pass off items in EP's as "unique" though, especially when it's something they figure they might build on or add more of later because let's face it, by the time they're advertising the EP and these "unique" items are supposed to be featured in, they already have the new ideas lined up for the next one and they probably have an idea which items they're going to copy/re-do.

I don't have a problem with it. Stuff Packs are about mesh variety and I like having more options. Making stuff packs only for the base game would be very limiting. It doesn't bother me that other simmers can have access to a few items without buying an EP. People who are bothered should just take advantage of situation and not buy anything right away and pick and choose later on. I have Late Night, Ambitions, and Generations, but I'm glad to have new meshes for these objects. If EA ever makes a builders-focused Stuff Pack, you can bet I want a wrought iron spiral staircase.

I honestly do not see the big deal? The slip and slide is also available to buy in the store. I think it's great for people who don't want to buy everything, but have more of a variety. For example, I know there are some who hate some of the gameplay features that Generations introduced, but wanted some of the content. This way they get it.
Honestly, I don't see how you're saying we're paying for something twice? If that's the case how many couches have been repeated, just with different textures, stencils, and colorings?

I don't have a problem with this either. I wouldn't be suprised to see them offer more jjukeboxes and photobooths in a teen stuff pack. I've been requesting bubble jukeboxes and a heart shaped photobooth.if I could get these in a stuff pack is be very happy.

I can understand then OP's point of view
You pay for an EP then find out that you did not need to for some of the content as it gets released as a recolour or slightly different style seperately .
In an ideal world probably Ea would make stuff for the store or future packs with the note that they do not work unless you have the original items already in game ( much like CC ) . This of course will never happen as EA are soley here to make as much money as possible for their shareholders .They will always look to see what people say are the most popular objects in game and then work out how to redesign them for release at a later date for maximum profit .
For me on a side note i would love to see an SP made up of the Store Items as i love a lot of them but cannot afford them partly because of the high cost from the store and partly as someone permanently disabled and unable to work full time i have to think twice before spending money and anything towards games comes a long long way down my shopping list

Recoloring or tweaking of previous items is a EA trade mark so it ain't no surprise they did it with this SP.

I just took a quick look, there may be more:
Fast Lane Stuff
-Motorcycle (from Ambitions)
Outdoor Living
-Hot tubes (from Late Night)
Town Lift Stuff
-Laundry (from Ambitions)
-Tree house (from Generations)
-Play house (from Generations)
-Sandbox (from Generations)
-Spring ride (from Generations)
So yeah...not a new thing. Does it bother me? Not really. Most...actually I think all of that is available in the Store in some form too.
Also, if you want fireworks but don't have/want WA or KPST, grab them from the Store. They're free and available in Build/Buy mode.

I know they have done it before, slip and slide was just an example here and mostly to point out more of the 'new stuff we are getting to make this a mega pack' isn't.
Its a bad practice and getting worse when you end up paying for reruns and you can't count on anything in your EP being unique when it was sold as unique.
I understand from EA's point of view that it does not matter if you make money off an object the first time they included it or the 10th time, but it really does lower the value. About all you are doing when you buy an EP for some new unique items is renting those until they are released for the base game.

As far as I know, none of the SPs for TS3 have "new" objects, just different styles for old ones. Why would you expect any different for this one?
I understand the complaint, but it shouldn't be a surprise at this point. People who have them all know what they are getting.

I understand how putting the content such as the slip and slide or the hot tubs into stuff packs and the store is a great idea for those who don't buy all the expansion packs. It gives them another way to get the new content.
I also agree that this gives builders more options, and as someone who loves the design aspects of the Sims I never complain at having a greater variety.
My problem is that they price each individual thing as if the objects are brand new. As Stormwench said, if you get all the expansions and stuff packs than your paying for each object 2-3 times. I buy them because I like the variety but I'm starting to wonder what the point of paying $50 for an expansion pack is when half the advertised benefits are not exclusive to the pack.
Nonetheless I will still buy the expansion because as I said I like the variety and the design options. Not to mention the faded out kpsp symbol at the bottom of my launcher next to all the other fully colored ones will drive me nuts.

So what about the people who didn't get Generations or town life stuff? Isn't this another opportunity to get the Slip and Slide? And wouldn't it be better to have it in different styles then in one?

I can understand why you're upset but it's not an issue that bothers me. I bought the store slip and slide before I bought Generations.. I don't know, I guess I just like having lots of options so it kind of makes me happy. And if people who can't afford a whole expansion set are able to get a few items here and there I'm okay with that.

I currently only have two EPs installed (WA and AMB) and I can still get a ton of stuff that 'belongs' in other EPs. Like bunk beds from the Store, and a sandbox, and a slip 'n slide...
That's a side-effect from putting a lot of the coding for these items in the patch - that they can now give us Store items or SP items that are not dependent on whether or not we have an EP installed.
The second side-effect is that we all have more or less the same code base, so it *should* be easier to trouble-shoot. In theory.
There are people who are upset that an item "that was one of their main reasons for buying an EP" is now in the Store. There are just as many people who bought the EP and would love to see more options for some of the items.
I for one would jump at more spiral staircases. Especially if they finally did a companion set for the Old Town set, with the cast iron porch railings, matching columns benches and *iron staircase*.
For me the spiral staircase was a major reason for buying the EP, but I wouldn't be upset if they came out with an SP for builders...
