There are a lot of simmers who seem to think that this SP would be more popular if Katy Perry was not endorsing it. And for some people, that may be true. But there are also a lot of people like me. I am 31 years old, with two young children and a couple of (awesome) stepkids to raise. I don't listen to Katy Perry, and I probably couldn't pick her out of a crowd. I couldn't tell you one song this woman sings. Basically, untill she got involved with the Sims franchise, I had NO opinion of this woman. So her endorsement has no bearing on my opinion of this SP. Then I saw the pictures of the content in Sweet Treats. Now I definately have an opinion of her, and, frankly, it is NOT a good one. Most of the clothes are just trashy, and the only person in my home that likes the furniture is my four year old daughter. I think this content was much better suited to the store.

So, to set the record straight, a lot of people are not bashing this SP because of Katy Perry; Instead their opinion of her is lowered by this SP.

I agree with you. I don't know much about Kate Perry and can take or leave her - I'm don't tend to listen to much of the latest music these days - my opinion about this stuff pack is based on the contents alone.

When I first saw the things in this sp, my first thought was that my three year old grandson would be very taken with it. What I knew immediately was that nothing in this stuff pack is of any interest to me at all. No matter how I try to look at it, I can't feel any excitement and I can't imagine any use for the items at all. From one point of view, there is just too much of it, with little possibility of using any of the items in a different way, or there is too little of it to create a decent story around it. One tree isn't going to make a world! There's no sweet shop, no register - and not only this, most of it seeems to be centred around stuff that already exists, with a cake or two stuck on top.

So why does it bother me? Because I feel a little resentment that I am missing out on a stuff pack that I could have used or enjoyed had it not been so 'themed'. Stuff packs come out so infrequently and there are so few of them to collect and use - to miss one becomes a bigger deal than if they were to come about more frequently.

If my grand mother could use the computer she would agree with you 100%. Just yesterday she was talking about getting this for me (she has Alzheimers and thinks i'm 10 every now and again) and when I showed her the pictures of the content reveled so far she automatically said no. To me this Pack was a good idea it just went in the wrong direction. Is this some of Katy Perry's themes? Of course but the fact that they could have left out a choice of clothing items and did more to actually make it good most of these topics wouldn't exist. It would possibly more embraced.

This

Ordinary gets boring sometimes. We need something different to spice up the game and if different is a candyland theme so be it.

I get tired of ordinary. Why not throw in some fantasy. About KP's clothes I love them because those are what she wears in real life.

I wish they would have added more of her music to this stuff pack then just one song. Also it's too bad TGIF won't be able to be heard on jukeboxes as jukeboxes have a limited amount of formats and the one this song is under isn't one of them.

Honestly, if you cant say you know one of her songs, all I can say you must be hiding under a rock. Every one and any one knows her music even if you dont sit their watching music videos every day. Constant radio and tv ads show you Katy perry and her music all the time.

lol. In all seriousness, leaving behind the professional fashion atire of Ms Pop Star, I didn't think I knew her, nor did my mum. Then I put up some youtube songs. We both know her songs.

To err is human. To blame a computer is even more human.

Nah, I'm not under a rock, I just prefer to spend what little "me time" I get on the computer, rather than the tv. And I'm all for different people having totally different styles in their games. I just think this would have been a lot better suited in the store. Looking at the content, without the clothes, their really isn't enough to do a whole "candy land" home, much less a world. In the store, it could have been added to and expanded upon with time. I really don't see that happening with a stuff pack, especially this one. I really don't think that this is going to be one of the better selling SPs.

But the point of my original post is that Katy Perry is not the reason that I won't be buying this; it is purely the content that I have a problem with.

And CLP, I think that you are such an optimist, you could probably find good things about any pack they came up with.

Saying that everyone and any one knows her music is implying that you're a nobody if you don't. I had never heard of Katy Perry until EA decided to insert her into the game. I don't listen to pop music or the radio and I avoid television commercials like the plague. I certainly don't live under a rock and probably have been exposed to more than you can imagine. Your comment was one of the most insulting I've seen on the forums.

Just because people have heard the songs does not mean they will immediately associate them with Katy Perry. There have been a number of times when I've heard a song then had somebody talk to me about the artist only to not have a clue who they are or what music they have created until they play the song that I heard so I can associate it with that artist

The KP association of this SP has nothing to do with my dislike of the content. I neither like or dislike her, she's pretty much nonexistent to me. I just do not like the content!!!!!

I couldn't care less who endorses the product. I love the content. And as far as trashy clothing.... Master suite stuff had far more revealing and sexual than this has. This is tongue in cheek humor. Which is what I feel has been missing in the sims 3. This fun and whimsy and humor.

I agree with this. I think the "worst" outfit is probably the cupcake bra because it's suggestive (doesn't really bother me, but I can see how it bothers some people). But the rest of it, although it may be a little out there, is pretty tame. I mean you've got a handful of outfits with short shorts and mini skirts (we already have those in the game), tight dresses (we have those too), and one or two midriff baring tops (got those too). So, I don't think of it as trashy so much as over the top in style, which obviously does not appeal to everyone.

I like the sense of humor. I am not a big KP fan, and her presence on the cover doesn't matter to me one way or the other because I like the content within. It also doesn't matter to me why anyone else is or isn't buying it. Some people aren't buying it because they don't like Katy Perry. Ok. Others don't like the price. Ok. Other people just sincerely don't like the content. Ok. For some it's a combination of all three. None of these reasons bother me because it's up to everyone else to form his or her opinion, just like I've formed mine, and I think it's cute. I love the pictures of the park, I like the wacky furniture like the banana split couch and the bunny fountain, and I can come up with plenty of things to use it for.
