First of all, I'd like to say a great big thank you to the Store team for doing such a good job with the set collections. BUT... there are a few SLIGHT problems and adjustments that could make this feature amazing!
1. EA, you didn't really spend much time categorising these sets correctly. While I understand that it's hard for some sets to be categorised correctly (such as the "Lucky Palms" set), some of these are very easy.
**THANKS TO AZNSENSEI FOR THE FOLLOWING LIST!**
Living:
- Kingdom of Cambodia Bedroom and Bath Combination
- Faire Folk Outdoors
Dining:
- Club Vaindenburger Relaxation Den + Study
- India Inspirations Collection (Living + Bedroom)
- Full Tiki Set (MANY different ones!)
- Collectionne Stancke (Bedroom)
- Gothique Living + Sleeping
Study:
- Futureshock Bedroom
- Championship Dreams (Bedroom Set)
- It's Game Time! (Sort of Living Room)
- Viva Las Vegas Bedroom
While some are inevitably going to be messed up wherever they're put, these ones should be placed in the correct places.
2. There is one annoying thing about this - it doesn't split up sets from compilations or "Full Sets"... This makes it very hard to scroll through the items and very hard to find (because they could fit in multiple categories).
So what I'm suggesting is:
BREAK UP the compilations into their smaller sets, such as the Make A Wish Compilation into its Faire Folk, Storybook and Once Upon A Time sets!
It's also almost pointless looking at the Best of 2010 Compilation because it doesn't help me at all!!
So what I'd like to see - sets better categorised and sets broken down into their smaller sets.
3. I've found a glitch that renders this useless for me. I can select ONE item from a compilation, and it works. When I get the second item however, it is invisible. It's grabbing onto an invisible object. It is still "there" but invisible - I used a trash compactor and put it under the counter, and the area where the compactor was went see through. :S

Thank you for the feedback! We're happy you're finding the feature useful.
We are already working on improving the sorting logic. Thank you for your patience as we "sort" it out.
See what I did there?

Hi simling,
Because I own the main sets, not the subsets, it is like that.
Fairly positive if I ownloaded the subsets, they would show up.
Also, they are sorted based on the categories of the items in the set

it is semi useful, don't get me wrong I'm glad to have it, but I would love it if each set automatically placed a folder in the 'collections' file, that way the folder would a) stay put while you placed objects from it b) show more than 3 objects at a time
a suggestion if the coding isn't to bulky
attach the code for a collections folder to all of the single objects in the store; code would a)place a collections folder for the item b)not replace existing folder if you already own at least one other item from the set
c) (this is for your marketing/sales managers) not everyone likes to get whole sets, so after the players owned the folder could also show additional items from the set that are available in the store
yes I get these suggestions are likely to be code heavy, and may not play well with the rest of the codes for the game .... but it is an idea
gotta run history awaits

Good to know you're working on it!! I find the feature useful... do you know if you'll be sub-categorising the sets?

Hi! I own some main sets, some subsets.... I think it should automatically go into subsets, especially when the main set has more than one room in it. It's more useful.
I'm also having another problem. Just restarting my game now. The store collections will let me get one object from a set, but the next object won't show up - it'll have the "holding" cursor but there won't be an object there.
I'm seeing if this is a persistent issue.

I don't understand this - are we supposed to be able to see all the store sets in that feature if we own them/part of them? All I get showing up is the Regency Arcade set (under the Dining Room category lol) and some of the freebie sets, spread out across the other categories (except bathroom, which has nothing in it).
Ah...I think I just realised what has happened. Only the sets I installed as 'sets' are showing up. No partial sets are showing up at all, apart from where I have installed something that only comes as a set and then uninstalled a couple of unwanted individual items afterwards.
I guess, since about 98% of my downloads are installed individually, this feature will be of no use to me. Proper collection folders (with nice icons, please!)would be much more ideal.

I own everything in teh store - but everything listed for these 'colections' havea gold outline and gives me a price to buy it.
This is very annoying since I already have these and would like to see the collection - not the price tag nor do I want to buy it again.
Nice idea I guess as long as it would show what I have and not try and sell it to me again

Thank you all for the great suggestions.
thesimling, are you able to consistently get the invisible bug? Is it with a particular compilation, or all?

Yes this doesn't really make sense, does it? If the downloads dashboard and igs were added to the game, why does this new system only work if we DON'T install things that way? gargh everything is so contradictory and chaotic. Only a small portion of the sets I own are displayed. A group of them are available for sale, despite me owning them. Also in the individual items tabs, I'm still getting the chance to "buy" things I already own. To get rid of these I have to "buy" them, which forces the download, despite the item already being installed in my game. None of this really works properly, does it?

This should be applied across the board. The store database would be so much cleaner if it were cross-referenced and, by default, the game catalogue. I don't see it happening, though.

CONSTANTLY. I've tried it with all different sets. I've tried taking the first item from one set and subsequent ones from others, and the invisible bug still happens after the first object from ANY compilation. I've restarted the game and computer.
I'm trying it again now because it's had a little break

Strange...
Now that I think about it, it worked the day I updated. This is the day after you updated... correct, Msred?

I just want a simple "see all" button! So it'll just show every set, like what we can do in clothes and hair by clicking on a gender. Then they don't have to worry so much about organizing them into categories. Maybe the categories could be sub-options, like age and clothing type.
