Hello!

So, I have recently moved and I misplaced my Sims Generations CD, which is the latest EP that I have installed on the Sims. So, thinking "Oh, we live in a modern world where you don't really need the CD to launch the game! I'll use that cool EA Download Manager and launch it from there!"

WELL. EA Download Manager updated to something called Origin, which is fine. But when it updated, I couldn't find it ANYWHERE on my computer, even when I tried to run the program name. And the original EA Download Manager shortcut didn't work anymore, because I had updated it to this new program that was a phantom on my computer. More on that later.

So anyways, I went into this program (right after installing it, while it was still open). It thought that I didn't have the Sims or any of the EPs installed on my computer. I thought, hey, I'll go ahead and hit "download," and we will see what happens. What other choice do I have? Well, it uninstalled Generations, and corrupted all of my Sims data. I couldn't even open up the Sims launcher. I close Origin, try the Sims again a few times. Then I go to try and open Origin again... and it is nowhere to be found. I can't even find it in the list of my programs. The only place I can find it is in the manage programs section of the control panel, where my only option was to uninstall it, which I did. I also uninstalled all of my Sims games and data. I reinstalled Origin, and from that I reinstalled Sims 3. I also installed the extra content that I had purchased from the Sims Store. I also let it patch. Then I installed my second EP, Ambitions. Worked fine, did some updates. Then I tried to install Generations. Who thing puked again. Couldn't open up the Sims launcher, saying that there was an error and to look in the Log (where is that anyway?). To top it off, Origin thought that I had still not installed Generations, and kept offering to install it again. So, I uninstalled it again, and tried to reinstall it, again. But now it just won't install at all when I click the "install" button in Origin. I can access the Sims 3 and Ambitions, but I can't seem to touch Generations. Also, when I went into the launcher after uninstalling Generations, I didn't see any of my extra content that I had downloaded before.

WHEW. A bit of a rant, but that is the most detailed retelling of my issues I have been having this afternoon/evening with Sims. Anyone else having these issues? What can I do to be able to play again?
