the idea isn't bad, but i have a hard time trusting i won't get stuff i already own, just the other day the DD said i didn't own something i in fact did. I would try one , but i would be so upset to get something i already have.

I'm happy. I don't have much store content, and I get more for cheaper. I got the jet set elders set as a bonus item.

I personally would rather know what I'm buying. I would be upset to get something I really disliked.

I'm also worried about the daily deal: I noticed a link was missing.

Depending how many items are in it, it doesn't seem like a bad idea.

Plus you get a chance of getting the Gold Version of the World (which counts).

Seems like gambling at it's best to me.

This link works:

I didn't get anything I owned except for a couple sets as the bonus items, which they said they don't guarantee you won't own. I think it's a cool idea and I'm satisfied with what I got.

What did you get?

I already own pretty much all the store content so it'd be pointless for me to grab it.

Edit: Someone reported they got the October 2011 Compilation as a bonus.

From the FAQ:

What items can I get in a Goodie Box?
Goodie Boxes have different content offerings at different times. With each box, you may receive one or more items from a particular store category, worth at least the amount of SimPoints you paid. You may also receive one or more bonus items from any category in The Sims 3 Store. This bonus could range from an individual item, to a set, or to a world. The best part of the bonus is that it’s not included in the purchase price. Users who own nearly everything from a certain category may not receive bonus content.

How many items do I get in a Goodie Box?
The number of items you receive in a Goodie Box can vary, but at a minimum, you will receive at least one item.

If this is true, it might not be good if players get one piece of clothing for 300 simpoints. Unless I'm wrong.

For the bonus items? The Magic Set, Tiki Dining, Ultra Lounge Dining and the Full Storybook Set. Too bad I own them all, that would be pretty awesome if I didn't.

EDIT: Just bought one more and got the Hibiscus Trio and Full Interior Castle set. Not bad.

I thought I owned most of what I wanted from the Store, but now that I look at what I got from these, it would seem I missed some interesting stuff. IMHO this was a good idea and they did a good job on it.

"Users who own nearly everything from a certain category may not receive bonus content." not really sure what category they are talking about considering they range of randomness involved... and does that mean people who own almost everything individually or would it seem I own less because most of my stuff isn't in sets?

also...

it does say that the value will be "worth at least the amount of SimPoints you paid." so I don't think that's the case, however I would be less than thrilled to receive a box full of the stuff that is the same as the JCP stuff

Summary:

- If you own every (or most) individual items but not sets, you are most likely going to get sets.

- If you own major sets, but not subsets, then those are also going to occur.

- If you own sets, but the individual items are also owned, then you won't get those individual items.

- You get at least one item as long as it adds up to the minimum value of the box, whether it's one item or one set.

Hope that makes sense.

My theory is if you own nothing and wish for everything and like surprises it might be a fun way to go. It's probably not worth it for me, but I might get one just to see what the fuss was about and go from there

Allspice, did you get the magic set, tiki, ultra lounge, and full storybook set as your goodie box purchase? And you owned all of those already? Or am I misunderstanding something?

This seems so tempting to someone like me who doesn't have many sets already (though I do own the Full Storybook Set and the Hibiscus Trio set and would not want to waste money getting those again), but I'm not sure.... Maybe I'll just wait for the Christmas sales first....

I actually think it would be fun to gift these boxes, but I can see it being very difficult since many people on here seem to own much of the store.

I got them in the Goodie Boxes and I owned all of them already, yep. But that was the risk, if you get a bonus item they don't guarantee you don't already have it. Sadly.
