Seriously. Please don't patch the game to make Uni any easier. It's not too hard and the meter/bar doesn't drop drastically in my game.
Before installing Uni I had tried the bigger Mods for the first time in my game like Overwatch, and that other one to reduce cabs or traffic in towns like Bridgeport. However, before patching up to 1.50 I actually "Cut" that Mod file out of my game and acutally moved it out of the game..and then deleted my cache files..then Installed the patch 1.50.
I played about a few Sim days without the mods in game (the ones that weren't patched up to 1.50) before getting Uni. I realized I better try the game wihout installing new updated Mods back into my game.
And you know what, I'm not having any problems with my Performance Meter, I 'know' it is supposed to decrease and Uni is a lot of fun and I'm not having any problems other than a few routing issues that I can solve myself by moving doors etc., and or a barista bar glitch. Other than that the Performance Meter in my game is working Just Fine.
ETA: Others havig Performance Meter problems, I am only posting for those that aren't having issues with it dropping drastically. It is supposed to decrease slowly and it does in my game.
Also, if there was a real glitch with it then I will report I only have the following EPs installed. LN, ST, Ambs., Seasons, Uni. Life. I don't have WA installed since I didn't get it. And I'm just not seeing the meter drop drastically in my game. Nor finding Uni too hard.

Ditto what Cinebar said.
I have no problems with performance at University. I wonder what causes some players to have trouble and others not to experience it.
Performance has slowly gone down while my sim was goofing around, but at class, studying, or using the special major items it rises with no issues. Of course, when I chose the texting option during class, I noticed her grades were dropping a bit, so I had her go at normal effort.

Yeah please don't!
My performance meter does drop a little too much, but that makes it more fun!!!!! Besides it's not a drastic drop AT ALL!!!

I've only played one semester but like the above nothing was broken on mine and it was easy enough to sort eveything.
This is actually the most pleased I've been with an EP, and I have all but Supernatural.

My performance bar is also working fine. It slowly drops when I'm not actively at class/studying/using the special object, but I'm able to get it back up to the top fairly quickly. I actually enjoy the challenge, it's a nice change of pace!

From the reports I was getting, it seems it not only drops a bit but drastically. I think it would just be great if the gurus could explain some how it's supposed to work (maybe they did before it came out, I wouldn't know that, I usually don't read stuff before).
Does it drop faster if the Sims don't have any skills ? Is it supposed to even drop while they are sleeping ?

It seems pretty normal in my game. It moves all the time but slowly, either up or down. Texting in class..makes it drop faster it seems. I think that is on purpose. Skilling while in Uni (check the panel of what skills are needed) increases more than studying..a bigger boost.
Extra credit raises it higher..a bigger boost. So does sucking up to the Professors. Yes, I am under the impression it is supposed to drop slowly but once you have it almost to the top it is not hard at all to maintain. My Sim hardly studied other than with the Smart phone sometimes which only take a few Sim minutes, partied, got a girlfriend and we all know how hard that can be, cooked for other Sims, had a few of his own parties, went to all the community lots and had a blast.
Having the right traits doesn't hurt either. I think, if not wrong, having a few of the traits of the Major you are taking also makes it easier at school, doesn't it? But my meter is not dropping like other people are saying their meter is dropping. It is fluid up or down but never drastic.

I sometimes think it's also a point of view. Some thing something is drastic while other think that it's a normal rate.
Also I don't know if there isn't some kind of visual effect involved too. You know, the little arrow constantly saying it's going down make you THINK it drops a lot although the bar itself is only moving slightly.
I do agree that there are probably lots of factors involved.
My sim is failing right now herself without skipping classes but she was caught cheating (yeah, don't answer bug threads while your sims are in the University, they tend to do stupid stuff if left alone) and was immediately dismissed from class. And she was also a brand new Sims without any skill at all, so she has a lot to do to get to a certain level. Does seem to be more realistic cause people without skill would be struggling in Uni in RL too, wouldn't they ?

Right. I think people are forgetting their Sims need to skill even though there isn't a skill point system to show you what skills are needed to boost the bar like there was in TS2. Maybe because it isn't really necessary but it sure does help! This boost the meter higher up.
It really does move slowly in my game. Yes, it is fluid as I said even when they are sleeping. But when I had the Sim about halfway up on the bar (near the word Study) it did not drop all the way down to the next word in the list while my Sim was sleeping..which is what? I have forgotten the words of things they have to do next to the performance bar.
That is how I am gaging if it is dropping drastically or not. The first in the list is Go to Class..high up near the top of the bar. Study, and then something and then Exam at the bottom near the bottom of the bar. My Sim's meter has never dropped a full word next to the bar, know what I mean? That is how come I can say it is moving slowly. Once at the top for example, near Go to Class, it has never dropped so fast it landed it near Study..See?

I haven't experienced rapid drops either. My sim doesn't study all that much, but she does go to class (except for a lecture she missed because I'm stupid). I don't think that part of it needs to be made easier. I do think something needs to be done about the starving, not sleeping roommates. I know college kids stay up late, but they also sleep a lot!

Did you assign them beds? That helps. My Sim lived in one of the dorms for one term. (one week) and none of them died from starvation. Maybe the Sims in the Frat houses etc. are programmed to be even dumber
I did put the snow cone maker in that dorm because they did about burn down the kitchen and caught my Sim on fire a couple of times. I thought once I would lose him since the firemen in Uni are really slow getting to the fires.
I later made my own dorm with a buffet table and kept it full so I didn't have to cook for my Sim and or them.
ETA: If you are in a study group it is important to ask to leave the group or the other Sims will just keep studying and neglect their needs. Once you have asked to leave that group it kind of jars them the other Sims into realizing they need to go pee or eat.
Maybe it is the differences in Towns if Sims starve more? I know in Starlight Shores in ST the Sims are hungry and die often. But in Riverview they don't. I am playing in Riverview at the moment and no Sims at Uni have died of starvation though they are hungry. They seem to go to bed without eating and get up really hungry. That is when I either cook for all of them and call to meal household or install a buffet table.
ETA: I know most people here have played TS3 much more than I ever did, but Uni works just about like it did in TS2. Sims start fires, Sims die, and it is great! But you can always click on the roommate and click "stop doing that" to make them stop and remember to go eat. Check the traits for absentmided roomies...get rid of them and get a new roommate.

I agree....don't mess with it, it's almost too easy now.
I sent a Sim off to get a fine art degree. Before she left I had her read all the street art books and while she only had a 1 skill level in painting she mastered street art before she went to classes.
All I had her do was go to class, study once a day and create street art all over campus. She's taking the minimum credits so she can socialize and I have time to explore the town....(looking for a plant Sim). During times that she's not doing anything else I have her gardening and reading science books.....going to send her back for a second degree.
She ended up with a B for her first term.

My sim had science skill level 5, her mood was perfect, she was using her major object (the skeleton) and her performance was dropping. During the night, while she slept, it dropped from completely full down to just below half. That is drastic.
But after enrolling for a new semester, the issue is fixed: it increases at the same rate, also increases while using the major object and does not decrease as drastically as before. So well, I'm definite it's a glitch, and not a matter of 'point of view'.
