I tried out some games and it comes all down to game corruption. Multiple things can happen, leaving the game corrupted. There's a few things one can try like swapping out the Uni files but the best option is to use mods.
Traveler,
Overwatch and
ErrorTrap are your best friends.
I won't be looking into this any further. It's not my job and if EA doesn't decided to fix this or at least address this issue, there's nothing I can do about it.
You're still welcome to post here of course and maybe this thread IS monitored by the gurus but my work is done here.
This issue is the same that WA has. I tried to keep my hopes up that a solution can be found but I've expected it to be this way all along from the moment I heard how Uni works. I've updated my blog but that is all I can do. I now officially give up.
Many seem have to have an issue where they do not arrive at University. When the world loads, the Sim is not there and you have the option to go to edit town.
The problem is a bit like the old World Adventures issue which means that something is failing and the game can't load the world properly because of this.
It's probably not a mod issue. To me it seems it has something to do with the Sim being corrupted for whatever reason.
Because of this issue, I recommend saving your game under a different name before you have your Sim leave for Uni. If the Sim does not arrive, no use in trying to play that game. Here's some more precautions you can take:
Precautions for University Life
Lets try to find out what that is.
I'm doing this thread together with
ceejay402 and we're going to update the first two posts whenever one of us has the time. It's easier this way.
Please answer the following questions
- Are you using mods or did you do so before installing UL ?
- Does your Sim use any cc, especially makeup ?
- Are you playing a game you started before UL or did you start a new one ?
- Are you playing with a fresh Sim or did you import one from the library ?
- Do you have World Adventures installed ?
- Does your Sim have a High School diploma (either in the inventory or hanging on the wall, please specify which one)
- Did your Sim attend the High School graduation ?
- Did you notice anything particular before your Sim went to University ?
- How many Sims did you send ?
- Are you sending your whole household or only part of it ?
- Does your Sim financial help and did he take the aptitude test ?
- Did you have any issues with the llama arriving at your home lot and bringing over the bucket ?
- If you have WA, do you have troubles traveling there as well ?
- Do you have the Hot Air Balloon placed in your world ?
- Are you playing a custom world or EA ?
If you have any other kind of issues where you don't arrive properly, you can post too. Describe what happens in as much details as possible.
Few things you can try
Please always work on a backup of your game.
If you don't have a backup or if it's not the first term you're having issues with, please try this workaround
VenomixSim wrote:1. Go to your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves folder.
2. Go into the save folder you are having the problems on.
3. There should be two files, one package file and a NHD file with Sims University in the name. Delete both of these files, and you should be able to send your sim to university with no problems.
The only thing about using this workaround is that if you have friends at the university already, it creates a new university, so the sims you meet at the new university will be duplicates, and will NOT have the relationships you had before.
1. Is it a particular Sim that is causing the issue
- To find out, try different constellations. Send just one Sim, the whole household and try different ones.
2. For those of you that had no troubles with the first term but with the second
- Did the term go ok ? Did you have any issues with coming home ?
3. If you have WA, please try to send the Sim that is supposed to go to Uni now. I wanna know if they glitch in the WA Worlds too.
4. The suggested solution by VenomixSim will probably not help with the issue itself but it should help getting your Sims back if you didn't make a backup.
5. Try a factor reset and only move your savegame over to the new folder and see if you have the same issue:

e-to-factory-settings-without-reinstalling.html
Make sure to backup the folder in Downloads
If someones wants to share their savegame (preferably an EA world one) with me, please do the following. I'm looking for games that have the issue on the first try (aka you never seen the Uni world with that Sims):
- If you have KPST installed, I can't use your game since I don't own that SP
- Zip up your whole savegame folder that has the issue
- Upload to some file sharing site or your own if you have. I do prefer mediafire. Please don't use a site where I would need to make an account to download
- If the file is > 200 MB, remove the travelDB.package from the zip file. I don't need that.
- Post the link in my guest book:
http://sims3.crinrict.com/en/guestbook or send me a PM at the AnswerHQ:
http://answers.ea.com/ Both are private and only I will see
- Let me know which Sim it is that is affected.
That's all for the moment. Your DxDiag is not needed. This is not a computer issue.
Solutions welcome of course.
