Am I missing a link? I'm only seeing Beginner results. Does anyone know where to find the others? Or perhaps they aren't posted yet?

Thanks,

I was wondering the same... there were a lot of intermediate entries. Maybe that's why it's taking so long?

There's been a bit of shuffling around with the judges. I'm working on the intermediate category for The Perfect Plan and hope to post the results soon.

Ok great and thanks! That was only my second challenge here, and I wasn't sure I was even in the right thread!

While I have your attention, I was wondering if maybe there might ever be a challenge with a Craftsman style? I don't know if yall do styles as a challange theme, but that one would be fun I think. It can be so versatile!

Thanks,

Week 82/83 - The Perfect Plan - Advanced Results

In alphabetical order....

Anartistica – Comparing your overhead shot to the floorplan, it’s an exact match! I love that you chose to include some of the closets. Like the modern/ industrial feel carried throughout. The blue bathroom is one of my favorite rooms, very harmonious color scheme. I like that you carried the vampire theme throughout the house, with coffins in each bedroom. Nice kitchen layout.

Constructive criticism – Exterior siding was a bit overwhelming. Bold patterns and colors worked well in some rooms, but a more cohesive color scheme might be more pleasing.

Scoiottolo - Lovely modern look from the front. Nice match to the floorplan. Love the decking and pool/hot tub area. Cute dining area. Love the flowers and the unusual dining chair choice. Interesting tile choice in the kitchen – like the color with the wood cabinets. Cool dining bar. Fantastic walk-in closet. The landscaping is really fantastic. Love the plant color choices and the seating. Love the fountain effect you created. Very cool enclosed hot tub area.

Constructive criticism – You might have relied more on pattern in the textiles rather than in the building materials in the main living areas.

Shades of Normal – Good match to the floor plan. Like the color scheme. Bedroom three is very cute. Love the off-center bed and window treatments. Nice use of garage space. Love the exterior siding choices and the planting beds.

Constructive criticism – Would like to see a little more attention to detail in the décor (plants, clutter, etc.) Need to share more pictures – close-ups of all aspects of the design.

And the Winner is...

Scoiattolo! Love your take on Danish design

Results • #82-83 The Perfect Plan: Intermediate

I was greatly impressed by everyone’s imagination and creativity. Such diverse results from one floor plan! In alphabetical order:

Comments: Congratulations on being featured! Sakura Sanctuary is a beautiful Asian-inspired house built well according to “The Perfect Plan”. It’s situated well on the lot with lush, appropriate landscaping. You’ve used a harmonious color scheme on the inside, and the furnishings are well placed and consistent. I love the bed spread pattern and the use of the half walls in the kitchen. Although the interiors are harmonious, they verge on the monotonous. I might have varied the interior wall patterns a bit, and some close-up shots both inside and out would have been appreciated.

Comments: You’ve followed the floor plan very well. The pagoda roofs give the house a cute, storybook feel. The interiors are warm and inviting—lovely use of the craftsman style. And I love the floor pattern you created in the living room. The house has nice curb appeal, but could use some more landscaping in the back. The carport is also a bit too long and plain—perhaps a pagoda roof on that as well? And the media center should properly go on the living room side of the wall rather than the dining room.

Comments: I was fascinated that you turned the floor plan around and had the main entrance through what would have been the back. But entering through the dining room might not actually be practical in most houses. That said, you’ve created a striking modern design both inside and out. I love the use of stone and brick and the red carpet with neutral walls and furnishings. Even the more traditional furniture in the master bedroom seems modern in the way you’ve handled it. You have an excellent sense of pattern and color. (And you are certainly experienced enough to be in the intermediate category, by the way.) My only reservation is that the paneling in the third bedroom seems inconsistent with the rest of the house.

Comments: What a hilarious premise: Bad Girls of Fashion! I love how you turned the Perfect Plan into a reality TV show! Turning the master bedroom into a design and runway room is inspired. The color scheme is consistent with your cute Hollywood beach house with the exception of the red laundry room, which seems out of place. And some of your pattern combinations are too busy even for an over-the-top design style (like in the phone nook). The landscaping has a nice beachy feel, and the pool area is especially nice. A very fun build!

Comments: Walden Woods Cabin is appropriately rustic! The inside is full of wonderful details giving it a very cozy appeal. The landscaping is even stronger with a lovely, lush pond, play areas, wood piles and many more interesting details. I love the pictures of the family at home. The house as a whole is a bit too wide to fit the Perfect Plan. All the rooms are there, but the house should be longer than wide. The interiors are a bit monotone, too, because of the predominance of the log walls, although I know you were trying to be consistent with a log cabin. And some labeling of your images would help.

Comments: The house fits the Perfect Plan very well and has an appealing modern design with an interesting roofline. The color scheme throughout the inside is lovely—I especially like the green and purple in the front bedroom. Your choice of windows and doors throughout is quite good too, and I love your use of ceiling light fixtures in the living room. The landscaping is on the minimal side but appropriate for a modern build. There is perhaps one or two too many patterns in the master bedroom, and although I like the use of stone and wood on the exterior walls, the stone façades seem unrealistic. Perhaps covering the whole wing with stone might have been better.

Comments: Modern is definitely your forte, and the Modern Plan is a prime example of your skill. I love your combination of color and texture on the exterior walls, and the geometric profile of the house. The skylight is a favorite, too. The interior color scheme is quite nice with subtle colors throughout—except for the lime green, which here seems inappropriate. I was also impressed by your very modern placement of pictures in the front bedroom. (I may have to steal that idea!) The landscaping is pretty and lush, but perhaps too colorful for a modern build. You might try staying within a color range or just use greenery and one color.

Comments: What a great story to showcase your excellent build! Everything about the house harmonizes well—it reminds me of a French country house. The color choices and textures of the exterior walls seem just right, and the roofline is appropriate and interesting. The interior spaces are full of beautiful details one wants to linger over. The landscaping is lush and appropriate—great use of terrain paints. It’s hard to find something to suggest, but I might have used wood paneling on the refrigerator. The stainless steel seems inconsistent with the rest of the kitchen.

Comments: Your house has a lovely traditional profile with a good roofline and cute landscaping, which gives it real curb appeal. It seems just a bit too wide to fit the Perfect Plan, although all the rooms are there in the right places. I like the use of exposed brick on the inside, and the interiors have a consistent modern vibe. The neutral grays throughout seem a bit overwhelming at times. The splashes of color are a welcome relief, and I especially like the use of lavender in the master bedroom. The master bathroom is wonderfully luxurious, too! And I love the hot tub surrounded by sunflowers. You need to watch how far you zoom out in cameraman mode. The seriously distorted perspective makes it hard to appreciate your hard work. Instead, try taking more pictures rather than trying to capture everything in one shot.

Comments: Not to quibble, but your French Country seems more like a lovely house one would find in a small French town rather than in the countryside. The architecture seems very French, and I love the enclosed yard—good use of terrain paints—but the house as a whole seems too square to fit the Perfect Plan (although again, you have all the rooms in the right places). The interiors are consistent with a French style: subtle and warm with nice flow through from one room to the next. And the spaces are richly detailed, although I still haven’t figured out what the saw horse is doing in the kitchen! The interior columns are a very nice detail, too. Like the previous entrant, I would be careful not to zoom out too much in cameraman mode. Take more pictures rather than distorting the perspective in order to get everything in one shot.

And the winner is:

1st Place: MallyMae

2nd Place (tie): 8NiSci8 and Jeca011
3rd Place: LandaX

Great job, everyone, and sorry this took so long to post!

OMGosh!!! Thank you sooo much! How exciting! This has been so good for me, you just don't know! I love these challanges, although my real house is falling apart. No biggie, who needs clean clothes when you stay online all the time??? Kidding, just kidding! And the fridge... you are so right! I have seen that before, and almost everytime I think I want to try it. But, when I get to the build, I guess I just forget & go with the default stainless. Your other comments meant so much as I was reading them. You seem to touch on each of the things that I really tried to make just "so". Your style of describing each home has made me want to go back and check them all out all over again!

Anyways, thanks again!
MallyMae =o)

ps~ I read something by Ruthless_KK about terrain paints, and really looked around her lots. So for my use of terrain painting, she must get credit for teaching me that (although she probably does not know me from Moses!)

What about results from some of the earlier challenges? It's been quite a few months. I know there have been judge changes but I have to be honest, I just started joining the challenges around Halloween and only did 3, and have kind of drifted away, mostly because it's disappointing to wait so long for results. I love love love the challenges just for themselves too, but we all know we really like finding out the results .

The one I personally am waiting for is the Fall Designer Showdown - every category has been judged but intermediate, and that one was before the Perfect Plan. I think also Happily Ever After is not finished. I'm sure being a judge is trying and takes quite a bit of time, I appreciate you guys and I'm sure everyone else does - but pretty pretty please could we finish up those older challenges? Love you all!

On behalf of the judges, I do apologize for the delays. We seem to have been without our intermediate judge, so the rest of us are playing catch up. I am working on the intermediate category for the Fall Designer Showdown and another judge is working on Happily Ever After. I hope to have the results up by sometime next week.

And on another note, I need to thank Kittkat for my win in Perfect Plan. Mine was among some fantastic entries. I really appreciate the time and effort Kittkat put in.

BnS 80-81/Happily Ever After - Intermediate Results

First, a BIG apology to the entrants in this category, and thank you for your patience. We are currently working on judging assignments, and until we have a permanent intermediate judge, we are trying to work on all the remaining challenges.
This was a very fun challenge to judge! Four very different and creative lots for me to judge!

LewisJ12:
Very cool build! I love the whole look, with the roof and the wood, it looks just like a home built out of a tree stump! Looking at your landscaping, I could hear Shrek saying “this is MY swamp!” And you remembered the outhouse, which was a nice touch. Inside, you kept it simple, which was good, and the broken ***** kept it from looking too “nice” (which I am sure Shrek would appreciate).

mgolden27:
This was harder for me to judge, as I haven’t seen Beauty and the Beast (I know, I know…), but I did find a picture of the outside of the house online, and you got that spot-on! Inside, you had a very quaint home, although it did seem to be lacking in color (is that from the movie?). Your Belle looked great…very Disney-looking with her big eyes!

mryjn1976:
I loved the exterior of your home…so cute! The log cabin wall covering inside was a nice touch. I would have liked more interior pictures of rooms, it seemed like the pics were all of little corners or items in the rooms. The grand piano felt a little out of place…perhaps you could have used the electric piano and used MOO to create something more authentic-looking?

sjsimmy02:
Your house definitely had a fairy-tale feel to it. I loved the purple in the ‘nice’ side of the house. Little additions (like Gus and Jaq outside, and the dress form in Cinderella’s room) were a very cute touch, and made me smile. I think you could have gotten away with a slightly larger build here, to make it feel more like a castle or manor.

Great work, everyone!

BnS 86-87/Happy Valentine’s Day (Couple’s Starter) - Beginner Results

WOW! This might have been the most difficult beginner challenge to judge yet! All four of you did an incredible job, and (I’m not just saying this to be nice or anything) I went back and forth debating about places. I think you all could have been competitive at the intermediate level, even. So don’t think too much about who won, because this really was amazing to judge!

danigirl347:
Your home was adorable! I loved the color scheme, and you did a nice job using the colors in the patterns you chose. You made a simple but very cozy home. You also made a perfect size home for a starter and made great use of the space you had (both inside and out). Nicely done!

Kulthero777:
You wrote that you have been building for a while, and it definitely shows! The inside of your home was lovely and elegant, and you had great landscaping outdoors (also, nice use of terrain paint, which some people overlook). You made excellent use of CAS in choosing patterns and colors for your items. And the presentation of your entry was very well-done also! One funny thing, though…I kept feeling like the front of your house was looking at me

mcgranor:
I wrote when looking at your home “cute country style”. Your home had a nice layout to it, and you made good choices in the décor inside. Your exterior was well-done also, I liked your arbor and balcony, and your ‘clutter’ in the backyard was a great touch.

scorpiophoenix:
You had another cute and simple starter, but I can tell you used great building ideas here (like the nice sunken living room). Of course, the overall design of a candy box was very clever! You also made great use of space in your home.

And, because it wouldn’t be a ‘competition’ without winners…
1st Place: Kulthero777
2nd Place: danigirl347
3rd Place: mcgranor AND scorpiophoenix
You all did so well, I couldn’t have someone in ‘last’place!!

BnS 86-87/Happy Valentine’s Day (Couple’s Starter) - Intermediate Results

This was a popular challenge with NINE great entries for me to judge! With all these comments to write, I’ll just get right to it!

AnonymousMist
Great to see you taking a step up to the intermediate level! Your build was simple, but cute. Your flower garden was nicely done, but watch your tree choices (bamboo looks best in bunches…a fuller tree would have looked more appropriate). I liked that your kitchen chairs had mismatched cushions, just like a couple starting out!

Bellili
The exterior of your house was adorable! I liked the shape and your wall covering choices, but I would have lowered the front gable (I think that’s what it’s called…the really tall part) or used a different covering here. The tudor-style covering looks a little odd at the 3rd level of the home. You made good use of patterns inside-I especially liked the two different wall coverings in the bedroom. But I wasn’t such a fan of the stone in the bathroom. Also, watch out for outside flowers poking through the walls into your house.

GillianIvy
You made a very nice log cabin…it looked cute and homey, with a nice warm feeling to it. The outside reminded me of camping (I loved your décor out here), and you had a nice pond with landscaping. I was a little distracted by your super-reflective floor inside (which I saw was CC…so maybe it was a budgetary choice?). It seemed out-of-place here, not to mention unnaturally shiny!

Jeca011
A very creative build! Or should I say TWO builds! Your lot was very fun, perfect for a young couple. Your pattern and color choices were a big part of what made this house fun. The only place I felt the patterns were off was in the bathroom (your tub and toilet coloring seemed a little odd). I liked your use of the half-wall with the fence, and you created a lovely, romantic bedroom.

MallyMae
Nice job putting together a video presentation for this challenge! It was neat seeing the house being put together. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a good look at everything (I saw little of the bedroom and nothing of the bathroom!). It looked like you made good use of the space in the house, especially a great idea building upwards. You also did a nice job landscaping a small lot.

mgolden27
Unfortunately, I have no critique because there were no pictures in your story! Make sure to keep your pictures in your studio until judging is completed

mryjn1976
I liked the outside of your house…it looked warm and homey, and you had neat rooflines and angles. There could have been more landscaping, however. You also had a lot of empty space inside…make sure to match the size of the lot/build to your available budget.

Pam4402003
Another very cute build! You had a nice layout to your home, and made good use of a small space. Outside, I loved the cupid statues…what a nice touch! Inside, you had good choices of items, and did a good job CASing them. The only criticism I can make here is that the living room seemed to have a few too many patterns (like the wall pattern carried over to the couch…a little odd). But very nice overall!

Stinalina
Using an apartment for this challenge was a neat idea! I’m not sure how the pricing works with apartments, though (does the lot count into the price, or the building?), so it’s hard to tell whether you were “challenged” as much with the budget…it does look like a very nicely decorated apartment. It is very elegant, and has a nice theme to it. You had a bit too much open space in the main living area, so the whole apartment probably could have been smaller.

Great work everyone! Now for our winners!
1st Place: Jeca011
2nd Place: Bellili
