1. Does this happen to all sims or just some?
Only the adults. The teen and the kids are unaffected.

2. What 'hood? Also, were you in a hood you had been playing prior to the patch?
Twinbrook. I was playing it before the patch and the adults were perfectly happy.

3. Any mods/cc? If so, please make a brief list.
No.

4. Mac or PC?
Mac.

Also when I first start the game they are happy at the first negative moodlet they drop to miserable and stay there. I've used the make all happy cheat by clicking on the mailbox - they barely hit the green. I've been playing with it for 3 real days (the forum wouldn't work for me) and every time I load it up again they're green til the negative moodlet. I think when they tried to fix the miserable babies that came with late night they somehow flipped it to miserable adults instead *shrug* I preferred miserable babies at least you could cake them.

Tried not using a bed at all, to prevent getting any "well-rested" moodlets -- just had my Sim take naps on the couch for a few days -- no change in misery index ... Sim still very unhappy and must micro-manage or "cheat" to stay barely in the green.

Will try dumping inventory and see what happens ... unfortunately I can't clear it totally because I have the stupid "Medusa victim" statue stuck in there (another long-standing bug that is still not fixed )

1. Does this happen to all sims or just some?
Two adults and a teenager from a family of 5. Most of the replies here say adult only, but my teen is definetly affected.

2. What 'hood? Also, were you in a hood you had been playing prior to the patch?
Riverview.

3. Any mods/cc? If so, please make a brief list.
No.

4. Mac or PC?
PC. I only have the base game and the stuff packs.

I had been playing for about an hour when it just suddenly happened. They have all positive moodlets, no negative, yet they're not in the green. The 2 youngest have nicer beds than the 3 oldest, I'll buy new beds the next time I play and see if it makes a difference.

After getting the horrendous mood, I went to the main menu. I then tried something out.

I would wake my sim up before getting a completed night of sleep(sometimes just before it would complete). This kept me from getting the slept like the dead moodlet(sim is a vampire so not well rested). I have yet to have the mood issue pop up again. This may lead to a fix and is definitely a work around. I have gone perhaps an additional week...maybe two in sim time. No issues with mood.

Update --

I quit out of my game (keeping the expensive Medieval bed) and restarted with the same Sim who was having the misery problem. Since then I have played over 5 Sim days and I am not getting the mood problems (yet). Everything is staying in the high green, even with no energy, low fun & social bars, dirty surroundings, etc. I even had a house fire at one point and still stayed well within the happy range.

I am getting the well-rested moodlet but not seeing the huge downswings in overall mood when it expires. Also, not seeing the big drops from minor negative moodlets like assaulted by nature or dirty surroundings.

So .. at least for me, it seems to possibly have been a case of having an accumulated/persistent low mood from the cheap & middle beds (??) that was still in play even though I had replaced those beds yesterday (without restarting).

Doesn't really solve the problem of the cheap bed (if that IS what the misery problem is caused by), but it might be a workaround?

I have been trying to reproduce this error tonight. Played for 3 hours RT straight. No luck. My Sims (two) were always way above in the green. They do have a good bed.

I bought a cheap bed for the butler and let my sim sleep in it and I did see a significant mood drop right when he got the well rested moodlet but as soon as he left the room, it went right back up.

They do live in a luxuries home so maybe it's just a not so well equipped house that makes them miserable ?

@brandi22:

Thanks for adding. Could you add one more question:

- Are your Sims rich and live in a big house ?

Also, it's ctl-click to remove the moodlet, not shift-click (my bad)

I have reproduced it and my bed testing confirms the other info.

I bet the bed you were using if you mouse over the "Well rested" moodlet it is at least +25. That is the break even (unbugged) value. Interestingly, beds with better bonus than +25 on "Well Rested" produce elation if you play many sleeps without save/reload.

I also tested the "Filthy Surroundings" as a culprit and that was not reproducable.

I save and quit the game, re-enter the game, and clean out my house. With an "Unglitch stat" and removal of "Filthy Surroundings", I could get my sim mood bar to half way through the "life time award area" thingy. I still get this bug with perfectly clean house, and "Filthy Surroundings" only affcted little bit, but not entirely.

I'm still not so sure, but I don't think something is wrong with "Filthy urroundings" moodlet

The affected adults share a bed barthelme, bought from the store. Energy 8, stress relief 3, environment 3
The unaffected kids all have an iconic iconic twin bed, from ambitions. Energy 9, stress relief 3, environment 6
You also asked if they were rich and had a big house?
They may possibly now be considered rich. They weren't when it started. They live in a half built house (add on every day ) on quite a small lot.
