Bypassing the launcher did not work for me. I even repaired my permissions and the hard drive. Which my computer needed in general but it didn't help with getting the game to start up.

I just find it weird that all of us are having the same issue. I'll go peruse over in the pc section to see if they are having issues.

I can try to leave a message to SimGuruRusskii on her page, (she's on my friend list), but I don't speak English very good!(French) if you can help me to resume the situation ?
Edit: I really need to eat something, be back later …

I hear and agree with you, Jodiferous, but EA customer support is disgusting for Mac users. Everyone should be understanding, but only to a point because we spend hard-earned cash on a product that spends more time broken than working and when we ask for help, we get nothing from EA except bog-standard answers that we have already tried. If they don't know why their products stop working, they shouldn't work on a help desk.

I was playing at 2 am and now I tried to launch and ran into this issue. I upgraded to 10.8.2 last week so I don't this that's the issue. Seems quite odd it went down for all of us on the same day.

A word from EA would be greatly appreciated right about now. Clearly something must have gone wrong on their end.

I keep checking back here to see if anyone from ea has even acknowledged the issue. Saddened to see we're still being ignored.

Are you guys all playing the DVD Version ? If so, try cutting the I-Net connection and play offline. Why does this suddenly start happening for about every mac user.

Also are you all on 10.8.2 or are there any exceptions ?

I know that you guys are always left out but collecting as much info as possible will help (even if you have to find a solution yourself).

I just got off the phone with a tech support guy and he gave me the link to the The Sims 3 - Mac "Disc Authorization Failure" Workaround.... However, it didn't work for me.
The person I talked to was very polite to me and did try to help, so I will give him that. He said that they have been getting a lot of calls about this whole ordeal. With that being said, I hope the EA big wigs gets off their ***** and do something.

I'm feeling for the call people...well, the ones that are nice anyway.

I'm running 10.6.8 and a sims 3 version 1.24... so it has nothing to do with updates. the game didn't work before or after the security update for 10.6.8. Its like a bug in the game set everyone's game to stop working on the same day... Angry programmers??

I'm not running a disk version. It's a direct download from amazon (supernatural) and it's been working just fine for a while. Some of my games are disc and some are direct download. I'm not getting the disc authorization failure message (obviously) but I am getting the four icons on the bottom leading to a message that the game process cannot be started, and despite ignoring the message it still all crashes.

It's the Zombie Apocalypse starting early ..

Joke aside, I really wished I had some idea. It really does seem that every mac user is affected.

Hope you guys figure it out. Best of luck and I'm hoping that tomorrow, when I get up, all this will be a thing of the past.

I figure I'll post in this thread as well:

I'm running 10.8.2 as of last night. I just live chatted with an EA Advisor who I told of this problem and that multiple people were having it and he said he was going to escalate the issue to an "expert" team and that they would email me back in less than 7 days. On a side note, he was very nice.

It does seem like it's effecting if not all then quite a lot of Mac users. I posted about this on my blog a few hours ago and I'm already getting hits from google by Mac users searching for a solution.
