Hello everyone. If you're having trouble starting the game, please try the following:

1. Delete your Sims 3 preferences folder. They are in your user folder, under Mac HD/Users/<user name>/Library/Preferences/The Sims 3 Preferences. Also, you can delete any files named .tginstall within your Preferences folder as well.

2. Try working with new data. That is, RENAME your "Electronic Arts" folder in your Documents folder to something else temporarily. (note: you existing custom content will not show up in the game after you do this but you can easily get it back.) Restart the game and quit. Then try to download and install the problem items or upload items normally. If this works, you can then copy your old Saves/SavedSims/Downloads folders (in the EA folder you renamed) over to the new Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 folder that the game generated. This will allow you to get rid of any corrupt data you may have causing a problem.

3. Repair your Disk Permissions. You must use the Disk Utility on your hard drive / volume, and click the Repair Permissions button. Check Google for more details on how to do this.

* Note that if you've modified your game in any way, that may be the cause of the problem, and you may want to reinstall your game. In that case, do step 1, then rename your EA folder as in step 2, reinstall and immediately patch up to the latest patch, then run the game. Exit, and move your data folders into the new Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 directory.

Hope this helps
