I know for a fact that you don't get free plants/seeds from Gardening (except for the seeds at level 1). I have a homemaker Sim that cleans and gardens while her husband works. If I could venture a guess, the free fruit came from the job itself (I haven't tried the Science career yet).

I also did not receive any seeds except for the level 1 seeds and I'm max gardening. But Life Plants aren't difficult to find. The graveyard is great for them.

Also, might want to mention, which careers you can keep getting raises with.

Rockstar for example can't keep getting raises at level 10.

In the culinary career every so often you get given food to take home. Also I was given the "Ingredient Eviscerator 235X".

in the criminal (evil) career logic is needed for the last few levels so genius would benefit this i presume.

"Artistic" gives benefits to painting and writing.
So it will help in Law Enforcement (Forensic Branch), Music, and Journalism

Once you get to Freelance Writer in the Journalism career, you get to eat for free at Restaurants using the Review Restaurant option, which also counts as an interview for job performance.
