My first introduction to the world of fashion was working in a teen clothing store. It disgusted me, and that's when I knew I wanted to go somewhere higher up in the fashion world, but I had to work hard to get there. The whole store was white. All the walls, floors, and display tables. It was so boring. I liked to spice it up a bit by wearing color themed outfits to work. The other way I kept my outfits interesting was that I never, ever bought any peice of clothing from that store, usually I went to outlet stores, or drove to nearby cities and went shopping in their downtown areas. That's where the good stuff was, the hidden gems.
But I needed the job, so I put up with everything. When business was slow I would wander away from the cash register and look at my outfits in the mirror, secretly comparing them to what other people were wearing to get ideas. Sadly most people in the store were wearing things they had bought there. I needed to get out.
