I sort of wish EA had expanded Sunset Valley before they decided to take us to China, Egypt and France. I still want to go to China, Egypt and France, though. Maybe they'll expand Sunset Valley in their 2nd EP? I hope so.

I'll be interested in seeing what the puzzles are that they will be introducing to the game.

How do you know that all those community lots are going to be rabbit holes? How can you know that without playing the game? Maybe all those places are not going to be rabbit holes! If you do not like puzzles, simply do not let your sims go to Egypt! If you hate the ep so much already do not buy the ep! Simple!

Ah! And to think I almost didn't come back to this topic. After a couple of posts it generally takes me a while if I ever do.

Well, your first question is rather ignorant, isn't it. Of course my reply was purely sarcastic speculation based on what we were sold in the base game just as those who get on here and are singing the praises and who are anxious to buy it site unseen because it's the greatest thing that has ever happened to the Sims and will give them some kind of Simtastic climax. Although they know nothing about the game either.

"Do not buy the EP," you ask.

Did you just think that up right now all by yourself? Or did you mummy help you for an hour or too. It's so absolutely really original and I haven't read that one in at least the past five minutes.

Unlike the goofballs like yourself who proclaim that they are going to buy it sight unseen and sing it's praises as if they are in the chorus of Mama Mia! while being as totally clueless about the game as anyone else, I haven't said I would or wouldn't buy it and won't until I know what I'm getting or not gettin g. At the time that I do, I will make that decision, unlike certain other Sim deadheads on here.

That being said, I do have the Sims 3. I have the entire Sims 2 library except Home and Garden. And having experienced the bill of goods being sold as the Sims 3, I have as much right to speculate about what's in it, good or bad, as the other ones on here such as yourself who think we should all just be EA bots and sheeples. Now, here's a cookie for you.

Wow! You are full of negativity! Seems to me your mind is already made up! According to you Sims 3 World Adventure is going to be a disappointment! If you are not willing to be convinced then nobody can convince you! I am not into sarcasm or into insulting people! So, I wouldn't try to convince you! Happy simming!

there are already plenty of puzzle games and adventure games out there, and the Sims can never hope to compete with them.
If people like those kind of games then they are already very well catered for. so why try and make the Sims into one of those? No dedicated adventure-gamer or puzzle-gamer is going to be attracted by the kind of offering that EA is sticking in the Sims, because it's just a sideshow to the main game.
The Sims is nothing like those games -- it's got its own unique little niche. And that is what EA should be trying to improve.

The content in the expansion packs should be like they had in the Sims 2, where an extra bit of life was bolted on to the main game, making your Sims life that little bit more realistic.
But how does putting him on a plane to Egypt and making him dig tunnels in a secret tomb make his life more realistic?

maybe they thought it would make it more exciting for the adverts. Because the University expansion, for example, can hardly be called exciting. But it added an extra bit of realism to the Sims life -- which is what attracted us to the Sims simulation in the first place.

is the Sims still supposed to be a life simulation, or what?

I agree about being the wrong direction, not necessarliy realism. Not liking all this collectathon junk. I just want to continue my dating, romance, dating, engagement, dating, slow dancing, dating, marriage, dating, and PROPER GENES FOR MY SIM CHILDREN! I can't stand rabbit holes, I want to see my sims in the Restaurant with a GD WAITER!!!!!!!

I agree, except I kind of like the idea of World Adventures(but there are some problems with it)

1 I want my Sims to age there
2 i want them to be able to take a vacation...as in...in a hotel...like normal people..(Not everybody is an archeologist/adventurer)
3 I don't want puzzles to be needed (but they might be ok)
4 I don't want the focus to be on role playing, etc.
5 I don't want to have to "level up" like in an RPG just so my millionairs can own a vacation house!

I don't agree with this idea that Sims goes in the wrong direction! That's not true- I mean, we all expect something different that it was, and in my opinion it would be a completely disaster if they create WA quite as the same as Bon Voyage, just to add little graphics and stuff... I mean NO! That's not the point, just "building" on graphics and on another options. The point is to change it, to be really something NEW! I'm with you about expanding the Sunset Valey, but guys, don't be quick with decisions and thoughts. Wait 'till you see. I'm really positive about the Sims 3 and will probably be with WA and other expansions. happy simming.

There is nothing that says you HAVE to take your sims on vacation. There are also to be new skills and traits with the expansion...and I'm sure there will be new items as well. I kind of agree that maybe this wasnt the best choice for the first one...but that could also be WHY it's the first one....(People tend to buy the first expansion pack) IMO...this just allows for different opportunities in the game...nothing says you HAVE to do the puzzles or collect any items or anything like that.

AND as a side note to those who constantly complain about the rabbit holes...If they open those up it would probably slow down the game terribly...then you would be complaining about that.

Well. So far,the skills are photography, martial arts and nectar making and the 3 new traits are based on these skills.
