WHAT!? You mean history and culture aren't based off of anime and manga?!?! (which Japan didn't even invent)

Ahem, I beg to differ. The storylines of anime are deeper and more complex than American cartoons. Religion, deception, society, and philosophy are all common themes in anime.

Wow! So that makes it totally realistic and a proper display of Japanese culture!
Like Batman.

And for the record, people really need to stop referencing lolita fashion. It's very much OUT in Japan. Of course some fashion rejects are still wearing it but it's not this huge thing anymore. Hasn't been for awhile.

Anime and manga are great. I just think it's incredibly LAME that weirdo American (and others of course)kids think they are the equivalent to Japanese culture and it's not even close. It's fine to grow an interest because of exposure to anime and manga but it's you sole reason for visiting Japan that's pretty much a big waste of money.

Geez, statistically most Japanese people don't even like that stuff and people in America parade around calling themselves otaku, not having the slightest idea of what that word's inpact is in Japan. Ignorance in any degree is terribly annoying.

Japan isn't a wonderland of anime, temple maids and giant robots. Jabbering about its fairytale superiority to (Insert Country Here) with stars in your eyes makes you look pretty foolish, especially in regards to China. That's like talking about how totally awesome Warhol's Mona Lisa prints are, while declaring the original Mona Lisa totally sucks and is boring.

Japanese culture is a direct offshoot of Chinese culture. And saying such shallow, meaningless ephemera as ganguro girls, goth lolis and J-pop are culturally superior to The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, The Yellow Emperor, Confucianism and Journey to the West... well, I'd say what I thought that made you sound like, but I don't feel like attracting mod fury.

I'm not saying Japan is culturally inferior to China. I think it's usually impossible to rate these sorts of things on a sliding scale. But if I had a choice between the 3500 years of recorded history of China, and the superficial, manga-informed, Gotta Catch 'Em All, 2-D amusement park so many of you seem to think Japan IS, I know which one I prefer.

YOU made my day. That was just so eloquent and INTELLIGENT.
I think I love you.

THAT would have been AWESOME!

It even brings back and old element from Sims 2: Vampires.

Oh now I hate you... that would have been so fun.

I think Japan is a great country. I have never read manga in my life, and I don't care about giant robots or J-pop. I do think it is pretty stupid to rate Japan because of these things alone, but like all of the people you are criticizing, that's what you are doing too.

You are only focusing on that very small part of Japan, and not thinking about the things that I and many others love about Japan. The people, the culture, the government. I have been to both China & Japan, and I think they are both good countries, but you have to think about all aspects of them before you judge them.

If you download a lot of Asante's lots you can recreate a feeling of Japan.

I like manga and anime. But I'm a cartoonaholic animation student.

And where is Ethiopia? Great monolithic churches carved into stone, erratic politics, 13 months of sunshine, more than 100 different cultures with very interesting habits and rituals, the prospect of sitting down together to a good meal of wat and injera. And blue and white taxis should come with it.

Also I would like to see horses (random note)

I like China and Japan equally so it doesn't really bother me if one is missing.

Korea would also be and cool...

And I would also like Poland for some reason.

Bah. Japan is so 90's.

Excuse me? What's wrong with China and what makes Japan so great anyways? You don't seem to be complaining about having France, or Egypt included. This seems rather racist to me.

Also, you shouldn't imply Japan as having the best culture you can ask for. Really, not everyone is going to agree with that. I for one, cannot agree with you on this. Personally, every culture has its own uniqueness and everyone has their own opinions. You can't just bluntly announce Japan has having the best culture.

Really, it's EA's to pick whatever countries they want for the EP. Don't like what they've provided you with? Don't buy the game then.

I'm cool with whatever EA adds in there.

It would have been nice if they added more countries in it though.

Nothing at all.
It's just with anime becoming more and more mainstream in western entertainment so many people suddenly have this obsessive interest with Japan.

Personally, I think it's kind of stupid for anyone to say they really like a place or culture unless they've been there to experience it and most Japanophiles have not and don't really know all that much substantial info on the country.

I think China was a good choice, I'm kind of getting tired of hearing about Japan anyway. But I do think they could have added a couple more options.

Anime was maybe cool several years ago, but only wanting to include Japan over China because of that? Um no thanks.
