I cant install without the patch... everytime i try to download the patch, (either through WA or the base game launcher) it just tells me that it failed, doesnt tell me why, doesnt give me an error code, nothing.

And it took me atleast 3 hours to get onto the forums, the page just wouldnt load, on all 5 computers in my house! Dont know if that was cuz people were flooding the forums with there WA problems...

Single young adult SIM with life set to longest setting (epic, I think) has about 42 days before aging up. Goes on first trip, 6 days to China, and returns still as a young adult, but with 190+ days left until aging up. Don't recall anything happening on "adventure" that suggested any form of "rejuvenation," so it just seems to be some sort of error.

Also, I kept getting error 16 when trying to save the game after returning, but eventually I tried using "Save as..." and chose a new name for the file. There is a "slat" door, and for some reason, the lighting of the door is inside out! For example, if you place the door on a room where the inside of the room is dark (no windows), and the outside is bright (outdoors), the game will light the door opposite as it should: i.e. the inside of the door will be bright, and the outside dark. I sent a married couple to Egypt and when they showed up they weren't married anymore- they were just friends. Then I had a family of four go to France and only one member of the family returned home. The other members showed up as residents of France and when I had my Sim invite them to visit (hoping I could move them back in) they weren't related anymore (they weren't her daughters or husband).

1. Game went to desktop during a vacation. Didn't happen after the first time though.
2. When I tried to save it would say "Error 16" (Or something about "Error 16") but using "Save as..." works. At least for me.

I don't really mind using "Save as..." I just always overwrite my Save Data that I'm currently playing. I really hope EA fixes this soon, but at least I can still save.

Oh, and I have CC too (No mods, I got my CC from the exchange), and besides these issues, my game works perfectly fine.

In fact the only way I was able to get them any interaction was by calling other sims but if you invite them over they just stand at the door and starve to death and pee themselves and pass out.

The other issue - I had one sim with an opportunity to repair a stereo, the stereo went into family inventory. Which is normal, but at that time my other sim was calling to go on a trip. Left the lot, went to China worked fine. Came back to the lot and got a message from the person who asked my first sim to fix the stereo that I got rid of the stereo and wouldn't trust me with items. lol - the funny thing is it was still in family inventory. Game was running "ok" for a few hours, with a few small video glitches here and there; nothing major, though there shouldn't be any at all.

I noticed that putting food in the fridge doesn't work right any more. It all goes bad as quickly as it would on the counter, except grilled cheese sandwiches.

But, I just crashed my game 3 minutes ago. My sims WooHoo'd in a sargophogus in Egypt and when they came out my video died and my whole computer locked up.

There was a Simmer I was reading about yesterday who called up EA and asked for help, as 90% of the houses in her town were 'blue boxes'. So the people at EA told her to delete the '.legacy' file in her game file. Apparently it was an automatic back-up.

I don't know where this file is, I don't know what will happen if you do delete it, I'm just saying this could be a way of fixing some problems. I'll go try and find the thread I read this in, to give you a quote.

Yep. I had it happen to my test family on another account. I don't know if it's happened to any of my saved families yet, cause I'm seriously afraid to load up my game cause of the errors and lag I had with the test family.

So I decided to go on an adventure, got the loading screen and saw the beautiful country. Really excited...

But Then my sim just disappeared. I can zoom around and look at things, but I simply can't play in any of the countries. My sim is GONE. I tried everything but it just doesn't work. I had this issue when I first got Sims 3, the error 16. Your game file backup goes corrupt, thats why its important to save lots in the game. To fix this you just need to go into your game folder where Saved ares, then look for a file with the extension bad. Delete it. When you restart your game it should start you with your previously saved of that game, before it went corrupt. 2. I've had the game do a complete crash on me three times (no lock up, no error message or sound, just a sudden closure of the game) since I installed the game at 9am central on the 17th. Each time seemed to involve the tents.

Another Note: I did not have any problems installing, it just took longer than normal. I also did not have any problems registering my code. The code took and was added to my account fairly quickly. I am having problems with getting custom content from The EA Store though. It will download to my game launcher but it will not install into my computer. Had the error code mentioned above 2 times, but the most annoying one I'm having is I can go away and adventure, blah blah blah. When I try coming HOME it gets almost all the way done, like, I could spit the distance it has left and it won't go further. It just sits there. The tips keep cycling through, the music keeps going, etc.

I have quit out and tried again 4 - 5 times, still does it. I am more than annoyed.

It appears to be caused because Sims 3 WA uses different save data. I agree it is a great game. It seems to me for the most part that those starting from scratch with new sims, etc aren't having this issue. I installed WA on Friday when I got it and updated both the game and the patch last night when I got home from work and had no issues. Trust me, they don't try to sell buggy products. They want to impress you in the long run, not just some "Sell and dash" sort of thing. I'm having the same issue since I downloaded the patch yesterday. Froze when I only had the base game and it froze when I installed WA.(I wait several minutes and the bar at the bottom never moves toward completion.) All cc and mods are gone. I've uninstalled and installed three times so far. I haven't been able to play my game since the patch. I don't even have an option to load the games w/o DL the patch. If I choose not to, it just doesn't let me continue. Help!!!

How's this...I took four sims on a vacation just for them "not" to show up at all in China and had to wait 3 days(of not seeing them) just to return home...that was bad.

I also think that it takes way way too long for the WA to load just to go on a vacation.

I installed WA, I played for a while in France, I got back home with my sim and thought: Let' change some rooms in the house so I went in to build mode,no problem than I clicked on Walls and POEFF!!! the game just closed totally.

I can restart it but everytime I want to go in build mode the game just closes.

Error?? or something else?

The other issue is I can't add a lot in edit town. I can bulldoze it, but not insert a new building from the library. Anyone else having this problem?

I do appreciate the extra cc that came with the game. You can never have enough cc. Well, guess I'll go back to my Kindle untill all the bugs are worked out in this game. What a let down. I think I'll wait a few months when the next EP comes out. Give'em a chance to work out all the bugs.

Oh, and always backup your saved games before adding a EP. Very good advise.

The game went 4 times to the desktop while on vacation in France!

When I try to save I get the Error code 16

I tried "save as" option and that worked but once when I rewrited one saved file, the whole saved file just disappeared!

I have no ccs, no hacks and no mods either! I only use EA made stuff in my game!

Anyhow, my game plays fine except that loading now takes forever (5+ minutes), and my sims age was reset to the beginning YA when she returned home (she had about 40 days-in epic mode-until she became and adult). That is the only problem I have noticed so far.

Even though some people are having issues possibly because of the patch, once Installed it the game ran much smoother.
-You have to use Save As to avoid crashing or errors during saving, which obviously many people have already said. I remember that's what caused my game to crash when I installed Sims 3.
-I noticed that if both my sims were on opposite sides of town, and I jumped from one to the other too quickly, sometimes it would crash. So I started pausing before doing that and right clicking on my sim instead of clicking the icon twice. (what can I say I'm really impatient)
-I also noticed my game was crashing if I was switching between normal and fast too quickly (like a spaz), especially when sims were sleeping, or again if I tried to see both sims in different locations back and forth too quickly while on fast speed.
Basically, all I did was try to slow down the clicking and just generally how I play a little and I haven't had any crashes since. I also try to Save As every time I accomplish something small towards my Adventures because I've basically gone through the cave in France 10 times now.
Anyways, I don't know if this will help anyone at all but I just thought I'd share. Installing the game just to the point of "select a town to play" screen took 1 hour. I chose to create a "new" neighborhood. This took ANOTHER HOUR to get to the "choose a household" to play screen. I chose to send Holly Alto to France. When the house loaded, my game is at such a crawl it is unplayable. I found that if I take the focus off the sim (go to map view while they are doing the things in their queue) it is slightly more bearable but still TERRIBLY bad. It took her a real-time 10-15 minutes just to drive from her home to the launch trigger spot for vacation areas. When I selected "France" from that menu, .... THIS IS NO EXAGGERATION..., it took from 10:30pm until 12:15AM the next day REAL TIME (I kid you not) just to load that particular portion of the game (France). She finally landed in front of some villa, and I tried to scroll around aerial view on the map to get a look but it was so unbearably slow that I just abandoned even trying to see or do anything, I shut the game down and went to bed. Very, very disappointing.


I have content from the EA store in my game and custom hair from the community only. No hacks or tweaks of any sort.


By the way, to all of you people saying your game is hanging on the green bars? Trust me, if you wait it out, it will install, but it DOES take absolutely forever. You will most likely be waiting HOURS. My game install, from start to the point of arrival in France took THREE HOURS! Prior to World Adventures, I could run everything high-quality with only the occasional hiccup, and medium quality was silky-smooth. I've had to dial the graphics down to "Low" across the board just to get WA running at a playable rate, and even then it's a slideshow.

I've checked system requirements. I'm running Windows XP, so WA requires 2 GHz of processor power and 1GB of RAM. I'm got 3 GHz and 2GB RAM. I should be able to handle this game without a problem, and before the expansion, [i]I used to be able to.[/i] What's happening, here?

I've reset, shut off all memory-resident programs before playing, done everything I can to free up power. Nothing works.

Pentium 4 Dell "Extreme Edition" XPS 600 with 3.46ghz, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 7800 dual video cards at 256mb each, Soundblaster XiFi (Actually have 4GB RAM installed but stupid 32 bit o/s only sees 2GB of it).

I had to turn most of my settings to medium and change my resolution to 1024 x 768. It's still playing slow as hell but I'm going to mess around with it tonight after work and see what I can do to improve speed (through either total reinstall or do some testing remove my EA store content/custom hair)

I might have agreed with you in the past. But it seems as if many people are having the same problem. The save issues are so simple that I can't believe they tested it at all. Some of the problems are relatively minor but have a major impact on the people trying to play the game and are simply laziness on the part of whoever was in charge of catching bugs. A company should be testing on a variety of computers with a variety of systems so that many bugs are caught. No, they can't catch all of them but as one who has installed a lot of games, I have never had as many problems with a game as I have with EA's Sims franchise and Sims 3 seems to be the worst of the bunch so far. I am getting the error code 16. I haven't tried *save as* yet, but will tonight.

Biggest problem: I play 3 families in one game. I use the Edit/Town option to select another household to play, and then play another family. However, after the WA and patch installs I am having problems. When I Edit/Town, I get the usual option to select another household. I choose the household I want to play, and the usual icon appears that tells me who lives in that household. When I select I get the usual you will lose your wishes, etc, if you switch households. I say okay. Then everything freezes up. I do not go to the selected household. All I see is the town and the music playing. All icons and options are gone, I just see the town. The only want to get out of this is to go to Task Manager and shut down the Game. So.... I can go reload the game but I am forced to play the family that I was playing before the WA and patch install. I am unable to edit/town and play a different family.

ETA: I read another poster that was having the same problem, so I wanted to clarify. After I Edit/Town to try to select another household, all the buttons go away. I can see the town, but there isn't anything in the town, and I have no buttons in order to play, so I have to use the Task Manager to close the Game.

Hopefully these will remain to be the only problems I encounter, but having said that I probably just jinxed myself...

Anyway, off to try to reproduce the problem with the family tree to see if it happens if you save in a destination, quit, and then reload them or is caused by something else or just a really strange glitch. And now I'll stop rambling on.

*UPDATE* - It appears that while on a vacation/adventure, sometimes dead sims in the family tree will use their 'living' portraits instead, it seems to only affect the family tree while at a destination and upon returing home goes back to the normal 'ghost' portrait.
However, I was unable to reproduce the missing extended family tree, making me think that perhaps it was one of those strange one-off glitches...

So I had no problem when I first installed the patch, though my friend Jessica did, and now she can't play her main household, and had to make a new one. I even played for a bit after installing it and before getting WA.

After installing WA, and the extra little patch, still no major issues, everything was working well, nothing messed up completely on me. Then I went off to explore China for a bit, and was doing fine, managed to save the game, both in China and at home. Then on my second trip back to home, I noticed I couldn't save. Got that fixed pretty quickly, just renamed my town with the Save As... fix.

When I went back for the third time, I noticed that some NPCs followed me down into the tomb behind the store area. I didn't pay them much attention until after a few trips in and out, one of them suddenly died cause they were stuck. Well, that worried me, cause when she died, the merchants came down to mourn her, and got stuck as well. So I had to call each of them over to me, on the top, so they would get out of there and not die.

Then I bought a house in China, not far from the market actually. I was admiring stuff, and went to have my sim make dinner before I noticed... there was no conveniently located door to get to the kitchen. Thinking it was a design thing, I ignored it, until my sim got IN the kitchen and there was no lights. I assumed it was just some sloppy job on the house designing team's part, which is fine, I forget lights too. Then I noticed one of the bathrooms completely lacked a door. Lol. Then I noticed one of the floor tiles don't match the rest of the house.

So I figured we'd go play in France to see what was what there. Once in France, I start doing the little adventures, and they send me to the Egyptian Gallery thing, to investigate. Well that was a trip and a half of annoyance. The whole time I'm down there, I can hear NPCs screaming overhead because a pathway is messed up with me being down there or Something, and they continue to scream until nightfall, only to come back in the morning and do it again.

One of the doors in the stupid underground thing keeps opening and closing, and I'm supposed to Do something here, but I can't figure out What so I'm wasting my vacation time at the moment, trying to work through the bugs and find what I'm supposed to find, so that I can extend my visa.

All in all, it's a grand adventure, it's just not the sort of adventure I thought I'd be having. Another glitch I have is that I can't choose my Sim's voice pitch, she never said anything when I was messing around with it. Also I can't not choose her favorites at all. It just randomly picks three out for me after I finish my family. This isn't a big deal because the Sims favorites do not directly affect them or prevent game play.

The last glitch I am aware of is that my Sim's lifetime goals do not change after I change what her traits are. After I click the "done" button, it tells me to choose one, so again I am not really concerned with that glitch.

I don't know what other glitches the game may have because I got to frustrated to find out.

I'm pretty sure it didn't let me do any of the stuff I mentioned before I downloaded the patch, but I can't remember. But even with the patch installed, it doesn't work. I do have some CC downloaded, all clothing and hair but I never had any problems with my CC before I installed the World Adventures.

I might have agreed with you in the past. But it seems as if many people are having the same problem. The save issues are so simple that I can't believe they tested it at all. Some of the problems are relatively minor but have a major impact on the people trying to play the game and are simply laziness on the part of whoever was in charge of catching bugs. A company should be testing on a variety of computers with a variety of systems so that many bugs are caught. No, they can't catch all of them but as one who has installed a lot of games, I have never had as many problems with a game as I have with EA's Sims franchise and Sims 3 seems to be the worst of the bunch so far. Honestly, I think companies are falling on hard times with the economy and laying off the their in-house testers or hiring interns to do the job.[/quote]

GWS, you're kidding, right? Can I remind you about the base game going out without story mode working, family fun stuff going out and if you made a Sim with that outftit, the outfit would dissapear from the game forever, the giant SecuROM patch on an EP that meant that people couldn't have Roxio and Nero on their pcs because they were perceived to be pirates and the Pets Bodyshop issue where it wasn't backwards compatible. EA's quality control is shocking. They're also well-known for cutting people out of the QA budget.

I can understand with overheating issues etc, that comes down to whether someone's pc has the specs, but when it comes down to huge, glaring bits of the game that aren't working properly yet, their quality control is obviously not what it should be.

Beleive it or not, there's a lot of good game companies out there who tell you the game is ready "when it's ready". I buy many games aside from Sims these days, and most of the other game companies are better than EA on this score. Even the ones who're far from perfect, will tend to release it with the major parts of the game working. EA on the other hand releases it, it arrives in the market, someone's game stops working and it takes about the next month to get things to a playable stage.

Error 16 ( i used saved as so that fixed it but hopefully Ea fixes that problem)


Another Issue i had was I sent two of my sims to france (they were married) one was an elder and almost dead and the other one was a ghost. They were family sims and they already had there big family.So they decided to take a trip to France and they had a great time until after THE Game Crashed and went to desktop screen.
I dont understand why that happends but just like other posters on this forum I had the bit with Loading the patchs a few times before i could play. I got the error 16 when trying to save. So i know how those people felt . BUT going on the trip and then in the middle of a dig in France it shutted off the game (crashed) and went to my main Desktop Screen. That was wierd all together. As for Game Freezing That happend after i restarted the game the second time after the crash
And that was only when i was trying to use ultra speed. Boy WAS it hell To turn it off the game. So i had to shut down my whole computer just to fix that problem.

I have no Custom Content at all unless you count from the Simstore and i have no hacks or anything . So i dont know what they problem is. As for my computer it is not my computer because it is updated to the max it can go. So it might be the patchs EA Did or i dont know. Alls i know is when i got SIm3 when it first came out i ended up calling ea so i could download it from them because of an error on the disk. (boy oh boy it took 3 days to load that darn game) But anyways I just hope ea fixes the problems. (I hope there are no more LAYOFFS though FOR EA or that could mean trouble in the future for all of US in the gaming community (with possible more errors or whatever they do.

Oh another issue i did have was with the stero it wont even play the new songs sometimes. It will just keep repeating the old songs. I hope the fix that problem too . Well i am here updating . I went back into my game, and it showed the family I last played and their house on the icon for my main Save Data, then when I loaded the game, it just took me to the neighborhood view, it said that my family didn't even live in their house anymore...

When I went to the friend of that missing family's house, thae friend's family still knew the missing family, but it said something about them still being on vacation.

I'm not sure if this is a patch/WA glitch or not...

Single young adult SIM with life set to longest setting (epic, I think) has about 42 days before aging up. Goes on first trip, 6 days to China, and returns still as a young adult, but with 190+ days left until aging up. Don't recall anything happening on "adventure" that suggested any form of "rejuvenation," so it just seems to be some sort of error.[/quote]

This was the first time I got any of the Sims products without the product already being out for a few weeks or months, and I've learned my lesson. It isn't so much that there are just a few minor glitches, because these are huge gameplay-limiting (or even gameplay-preventing) errors. Many of them are clearly not related to PC specs, and there is such a wide variety of different kinds of problems, that I'm just left shaking my head. I don't know what is more sad: that my game doesn't work properly, or that I'm a 30-year old man who is upset that the dolls in his virtual dollhouse keep inexplicably regressing in age.

It's a crazy world, y'all.

One thought regarding the patches: I ran the launcher on Monday (pre-WA) and it downloaded and installed a very large patch. Then on Tuesday I installed WA and it added a second smaller patch. Now, the very large patch from Monday is listed on the news page, but the smaller patch from Tuesday is not. Is it possible that they released a faulty patch and then tried to fix it the next day (though that clearly did not work).

Is anyone else's game not loading at all? I seem to have this problem where the bar on the main screen just simply will not load no matter how long I run the game for! However, when I exited to the Main Menu, to my shock and extreme annoyance, I found that that saved family was pretty much wiped out, saying something like "This lot has items from an old expansion that no longer exist. This household can't be played". You can imagine how ****** off I was. Thankfully, it wasn't a family I'd spent hours playing...

However, I installed the new game today, thinking that maybe I wouldn't have that problem if I loaded the new expansion. I spent 2-4 hours ish playing around in the new areas. Needed to check the weather real quick, so I went to save.... "Error 16" pops up. I know without a doubt that that household, which I have spent a long time working on (it's in fact the second household/lot/family/save I have done with the Sims 3). So I'm incredibly furious about the sitation. I refuse to play my original family until this issue is resolved. And I didn't even know about the "Save it as a 'save as' file to prevent the error message" post that had be posted in here.



So yeah, EA, you have finally lost my respect. I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but now I can't even do that. Someone I know even said that you all are more concerned buying out all the other game companies, and trying to make yourselves look like the Best, that you don't put as much thought or care into your games. Whenever I click on it, it shows the loading symbol, then, it dissapears. Oddly enough, I can still navigate around the neighborhood, but the control panel is gone.

The first happened when I loaded up the game and tried to go into a custom house. The loading bar stopped, the music stopped, and my whole computer pretty much locked up and I had to hold down the tower's power button in order to do anything.
This problem was solved when I opened the launcher and had the launcher reinstall all my custom houses and content. It told me everything was already installed, but it still fixed my problem.

I've also run into the saving problem. It gives no warning or anything. it doesnt lag, doesnt freeze, doesnt stop the music... its just there, than BOOM! CRASH!

And I know some people said that the loading times are horrendous! With mine, the loading of the vacation hoods is not bad, maybe a minute each hood... But ive noticed a drastic increase in loading times with switching between buy/build modes and live mode. Not like a rediculous amount, but still enough to notice, probably about a minute for that! considering its supposed to be instantaneous, its a little annoying!

Hopefully they fix these issues before thanksgiving, cuz i have to go to my aunts house, and since my entire family hates each other, i plan to bring my laptop, the sims and a really big pair of headphones... lmao!

It gives no warning or anything. it doesnt lag, doesnt freeze, doesnt stop the music... its just there, than BOOM! CRASH!

And I know some people said that the loading times are horrendous! With mine, the loading of the vacation hoods is not bad, maybe a minute each hood... But ive noticed a drastic increase in loading times with switching between buy/build modes and live mode. Not like a rediculous amount, but still enough to notice, probably about a minute for that! considering its supposed to be instantaneous, its a little annoying!

Hopefully they fix these issues before thanksgiving, cuz i have to go to my aunts house, and since my entire family hates each other, i plan to bring my laptop, the sims and a really big pair of headphones... lmao!

This is the same problem I have been having, which I guess isn't as bad as some people but can be a bit annoying. It also looks like some objects have a sort of blue shine to them, not just CC but also maxis content as well.

That's not necessarily true-- my computer more than meets the requirement, and was built specifically for Sims 3. My dad works in IT, and personally watched over its building so that it would be perfect for sims 3. Ever since the patch, sims 3 wont even RUN on my computer. *I have 3 neighborhoods that i cannot play, they are greyed out, due to the Error 16.

Its really upsetting, bugs are a given, but i have not seen bugs that are this game play altering in the entire existence of the Sims.... It won't start - at all! I came home super friggin' happy to install the WA expansion pack. I put the CD in and it forced me to update (which I guess installed the god-forsaken patch)and after that it let me install WA. The installation went fine. I clicked the icon, got the game launcher up and clicked on the arrow to start the game and .... nothing. The screen goes black like it's about to start, then just goes back to the desktop.

The only custom content I have is from TS3 website (the store). I have no other content from any other website. My computer more than meets the sys. requirements. All my drivers are updated.

I played the Sims 3 base game just fine, but as soon as I updated and installed WA it completely messed everything up! I tried un-installing WA and just playing TS3 but now THAT won't start either! I am now im the process of uninstalling the base game and trying to re-install everything.

You do just mean 'move' as in pick up file and relocate? Or did you also remove the files from your game? Just curious, as I think I might start with a clean install but I am feeling a bit lazy and can't really be stuffed to remove everything completely and install it all over again!

As for the idea that these seem to be problems on 'low-medium' end computers... I hope that this isn't the problem. Although I think my computer is closer to high end (Just give it a better processor and it'll be perfect) I think that's harsh on those who have low end computers. They play this game too!

I think that EA rushed this EP, as it feels like it wasn't tested enough. I moved the CC (I don't use mods) then installed, I didn't try to install it with it there after reading what was going on with other peoples games. I moved it back before I played and everything was fine.

I noticed that about stairs too. But the ones I couldn't seem to recolor were ones that were from before the patch. I built a basement and put stairs in them and I could recolor them.

That is the exact same problem I'm having, except that I have it not sometimes, but ALWAYS! The entrance music keeps on playing when the family loads and no other sounds can be heard. Even when I switch families, it keeps on playing. When I want to exit the game, it takes too long, the screen goes black and the music is stil playing. So I have to restart my computer.

I have met the system requirements, I have 4 GB RAM, Quad Core Processor, 1 GB RAM Graphics Card, 200 GB free hard drive space... I have CC and I had hacks, but removed them before installing WA. And I also have the latest patch. I really don't know what is causing this problem. Is it CC? Is it the patch? Or just the EP?

-Omni Plant - sim can't feed them anymore. He can order seeds and grow them, and the selection menu has the option to "feed" and it is not grayed out, but when I click on it, it makes the noise and no action takes place.

-Autograph Session - Rockstar sim can no longer sign autographs. She can hold autograph session, she shows up and no one wants her autograph. She just talks to people until it times out and doesn't get paid. (Hate this one)

-Childhood Portrait - This one has already fixed itself in my game. Mortimer's portrait shows him as a child even though he is now an adult. Very disturbing to see one of my sim's want as "woohoo with Mortimer" next to a little kid portrait.

-Eyecandy - wording that shows up in the mood buff makes it sound like everyone who sees my sim is just full of themselves. Example: Mary has eyecandy trait, John sees her, John's buff reads something like, "John just has a special glow about him, blah blah" Not as bad as other bugs, but should be fixed.

-Fountain of Youth bug - Returning from vacation resets a sim's age as if they had eaten Ambrosia. This one is annoying, but I can work around it.

-Spoiled Food - This is the worst one, IMO. Food spoils in the expensive fridge (and possibly other fridges) at the same rate as if it were left out on the counter. If my sim makes Angel Food Cake in the morning and puts it in the fridge, by evening it is spoiled.

-Writers Block - Journalist sim can no longer write articles unless he has just interviewed someone or dug through someone's trash. He used to be able to just write articles. He hasn't been able to write stories about town events either, but I've never tried that before so I don't know if it is part of the bug.

-Childhood Wishes - When children go on vacation, they get wants that can't be fulfilled, like "buy fireworks" or "find $500 worth of relics" My sim kid can't do squat on vacation other than read and pick up rocks. I took him to China thinking he could learn martial arts or help excavate, but he can't do anything interesting. Doesn't stop him from getting the wants though.

My child sim's age was reset too! I'm not sure if it was before they went to Egypt or after.

As I went to get out of the game, I clicked on Save and Quit.
After taking a good long 15 minutes of saving, a message popped up and said ''Error Code 16''. So I went online and read that others have clicked on ''save as''. I did that and it exited fine.
The next day I went in to play my game.
First it said my disk wasn't working right and to contact customer support.
So before doing that I reloaded the game and it worked fine.
Now here's where the REAL problem began:
It took about 20 minutes to LOAD my family. After FINALLY getting into the game, the gameplay was unbelievably slow. I sat there for a good 10 minutes before my sim responded to what I was trying to make her do. And even then it took VERY, VERY long. I got frustrated easily. So I went to options, and set all my graphics to ''low'', because that's what's supposed to help gameplay. After doing so I restarted my game. Then I tried sending my sim to China.
It took SO long to load. I waited for a good 5 minutes before I left the computer to go eat dinner and when i got back it was STILL loading. Therefore it almost took my game a good 30 minutes to load. When it FINALLY got into China, the game play was worse. What gives? I have all the system requirements, as said.

But it never gave me a problem before WA.

Single young adult SIM with life set to longest setting (epic, I think) has about 42 days before aging up. Goes on first trip, 6 days to China, and returns still as a young adult, but with 190+ days left until aging up. Don't recall anything happening on "adventure" that suggested any form of "rejuvenation," so it just seems to be some sort of error.[/quote]

I'm having this exact problem, but I've noticed something else. Taking my sim into either Change Appearance or Plan Outfit also resets the days until aging. I've tried it multiple times and each time my sim has days until aging reset to random starting amounts[/quote]
Thought I'd give an update on my issue. Through my testing it is not going on adventures that resets a Sim's "Days Until Aging", through my testing it is using either a mirror to "Change Appearance" or a dresser to "Plan Outfit". Everytime my Sim exits from either his age is reset to a random starting age. I've tested this on all ages.

First of all, I do want to say that when we first got the Sims 3, we were both very excited. Aside from the limited choices of clothing and hairstyles, we were both very happy with the game. We had no issues with it, it was fun. Both of us have visited some “3rd party” sites and have downloaded various custom content (we highly recommend “Mod the Sims” by the way). Still, we had no issues. We both want to thank you, the creators, for making the Sims 3. My daughter and I have spent many hours laughing together over the (mis)adventures of our Sims.

When we heard of the World Adventures expansion pack, we started saving right away. (Single mom here - $80 is nothing to sneeze at, especially in this economy!) We pre-ordered 2 of them – one each - and my daughter was SO excited when we got the call that they were in. We picked them up right away and I popped in my CD to begin the install. It said I needed to upgrade my game before it could install, so I unwittingly made the click that destroyed my game, my happy place, and my warm fuzzy feelings towards all things Sim. I told it to proceed with the upgrade. The upgrade went smoothly, as did the install. My daughter’s computer did not. When she tried to upgrade, it just kept saying “unknown file” and stopping. It would not upgrade and would not install the game she had saved and waited on for months. She was so upset… almost in tears. I called the tech support phone number listed in the manual. After a THIRTY MINUTE hold time… I was connected to a woman who was less than friendly. Perhaps she had already had a long hard day of helping people who trusted EA to make a game that actually works… I don’t know. When I told her of my daughter’s issues, she brusquely told my 13 year old that it was HER fault because she had gone to the 3rd party sites instead of using only EA content and she would have to delete ALL of her custom content, uninstall the Sims 3, and start over fresh. She went on a rant about how “all these people think they know what they are doing when they make all that stuff, and they don’t.” (Funny, they worked fine BEFORE the patch and expansion pack install…) My daughter has spent endless hours creating beautiful Sims and storylines and the thought of losing them all was devastating to her. I explained to the woman that I have the exact same computer as my daughter, we have the exact same games and content, and mine upgraded fine. I was confused, not angry or belligerent. Apparently she thought she was being attacked (I am not one to be aggressive! Honestly, I avoid conflict like the plague) because her tone became even more unfriendly and she began telling me that “no two computers are exactly alike and…” blah blah blah. Whatever. So after I hung up, and got my daughter to stop crying, I copied all of her custom content into a new folder on her desktop, uninstalled the entire game, reinstalled it, did the patch/upgrade, installed the World Adventures, and then put her custom content back in. It seemed to work fine… Until she tried to interact her Sim with another. They cannot interact. No talking, no hugging, no anything. Her attributes are gone. Her lifetime purchases are gone. When my daughter gave up and shut down her once beloved game, she got a save error 16. I cannot express to you the utter disappointment and disenchantment apparent on her face. After I got her game and expansion pack loaded, I went back to my game. I clicked the icon and waited. The launcher seemed to take slightly longer than normal, but not overly so. I clicked the “play” arrow and could not believe the results. My game now takes LITERALLY HALF AN HOUR or MORE to load. I sent my Sim to China for 3 days. It took her HALF AN HOUR to get there. (On a positive note, the music was lovely while I waited.) The game is so slow now, I click on something and it will take 15 seconds for the choices to pop up. Based on the attitude and interaction I had with the tech support from EA, as well as my personal experiences… I am starting to feel like the expansion pack was intentionally made to not work with “3rd party” content to force consumers to shovel even more money to EA. Perhaps not, but right now you’d have a hard time convincing me otherwise. It will also take a LOT of doing to get me to buy anything else EA or Sims related.

If anyone knows anything I/we can do to fix any of these issues… I would greatly appreciate your input.

Also… to the creators of the Sims 3… my daughter and I want to make it clear to you that we do love the game. We love the idea of the expansion pack and would probably enjoy playing it. HOWEVER, we (as I’m sure countless others) are more than willing to wait a couple more months for the release if it meant working out the issues so that we could actually play it when it came out. You are in no way making fans (or repeat customers!) by releasing something with this many issues.

Yes! I took it and the Resource.cfg folder out of the EA folder all together before starting the install, moved it back when it was done. I moved the CC (I don't use mods) then installed, I didn't try to install it with it there after reading what was going on with other peoples games. I moved it back before I played and everything was fine.

I noticed that about stairs too. But the ones I couldn't seem to recolor were ones that were from before the patch. I built a basement and put stairs in them and I could recolor them.

That's right, my game is gone. The Goth home reverted back to it's original state but cannot be accessed at all.
If you download and want to play with the patch YOU MUST START with a brand new character otherwise you cannot save and risk losing everything.
I am so sad my sims r gone!


EDIT!!!!! I have installed the patch that came out today and my saved game is still not working. On the screen where you choose which of your saved sims to play my "Goth Family" save shows an EMPTY outline of the original family (Gunther, Cornelia and Mortimer as a child and their original house). So my saved game still cannot be accessed.

First of all, I do want to say that when we first got the Sims 3, we were both very excited. Aside from the limited choices of clothing and hairstyles, we were both very happy with the game. We had no issues with it, it was fun. Both of us have visited some “3rd party” sites and have downloaded various custom content (we highly recommend “Mod the Sims” by the way). Still, we had no issues. We both want to thank you, the creators, for making the Sims 3. My daughter and I have spent many hours laughing together over the (mis)adventures of our Sims.

When we heard of the World Adventures expansion pack, we started saving right away. (Single mom here - $80 is nothing to sneeze at, especially in this economy!) We pre-ordered 2 of them – one each - and my daughter was SO excited when we got the call that they were in. We picked them up right away and I popped in my CD to begin the install. It said I needed to upgrade my game before it could install, so I unwittingly made the click that destroyed my game, my happy place, and my warm fuzzy feelings towards all things Sim. I told it to proceed with the upgrade. The upgrade went smoothly, as did the install. My daughter’s computer did not. When she tried to upgrade, it just kept saying “unknown file” and stopping. It would not upgrade and would not install the game she had saved and waited on for months. She was so upset… almost in tears. I called the tech support phone number listed in the manual. After a THIRTY MINUTE hold time… I was connected to a woman who was less than friendly. Perhaps she had already had a long hard day of helping people who trusted EA to make a game that actually works… I don’t know. When I told her of my daughter’s issues, she brusquely told my 13 year old that it was HER fault because she had gone to the 3rd party sites instead of using only EA content and she would have to delete ALL of her custom content, uninstall the Sims 3, and start over fresh. She went on a rant about how “all these people think they know what they are doing when they make all that stuff, and they don’t.” (Funny, they worked fine BEFORE the patch and expansion pack install…) My daughter has spent endless hours creating beautiful Sims and storylines and the thought of losing them all was devastating to her. I explained to the woman that I have the exact same computer as my daughter, we have the exact same games and content, and mine upgraded fine. I was confused, not angry or belligerent. Apparently she thought she was being attacked (I am not one to be aggressive! Honestly, I avoid conflict like the plague) because her tone became even more unfriendly and she began telling me that “no two computers are exactly alike and…” blah blah blah. Whatever. So after I hung up, and got my daughter to stop crying, I copied all of her custom content into a new folder on her desktop, uninstalled the entire game, reinstalled it, did the patch/upgrade, installed the World Adventures, and then put her custom content back in. After I got her game and expansion pack loaded, I went back to my game. I clicked the icon and waited. The launcher seemed to take slightly longer than normal, but not overly so. I clicked the “play” arrow and could not believe the results. My game now takes LITERALLY HALF AN HOUR or MORE to load. I sent my Sim to China for 3 days. It took her HALF AN HOUR to get there. I tried to recover my missing family by having their friends family go to China (That's the destination they went to) and trying to find them since the game still thought they was on a vacation/are foreigners.

But even when I went to China, the missing family was still considered on vacation/foreigners. So I just traveled back home, but when I went back home...

That household's (The missing family's friends) relationship panel was all wiped out. Nothing there. It was just blank.

Grr, this game is really starting to irritate me. I'm pretty upset over my missing family too. (I know this is just a game, but "game-wise" I'm pretty upset...)

Lets say I am playing the goth family .. after a while I want to make a switch to a new family I save and exit and when I get back to the town screen .. I have no controls . All I see is the town itself but I am unable to click anything and nothing seems to bring back my controls to which I need to exit, save, choose a new family..etc.. I have no choice but to exit with contol alt delete. Anyone else having this problem too or know a fix?

I've heard this is a good way to help the game work. Although, I am not sure it is what may be the real problem. I have a bunch of CC from 3rd party sites as well as the EA Store and I have not had any problems since the first time I played. I have not removed any of my mods or custom content and my game seems to be working fine. Nothing missing or out of place. I did have the Save issue but that has gone away after using Save As. If this method does end up helping a lot of people play their game that is great but I have not removed anything and my game still works fine. There are also a lot of people who don't have any custom content and they are still getting bugs in their games too. That is the exact same problem I'm having, except that I have it not sometimes, but ALWAYS! The entrance music keeps on playing when the family loads and no other sounds can be heard. Even when I switch families, it keeps on playing. When I want to exit the game, it takes too long, the screen goes black and the music is stil playing. So I have to restart my computer.

I have met the system requirements, I have 4 GB RAM, Quad Core Processor, 1 GB RAM Graphics Card, 200 GB free hard drive space... I have CC and I had hacks, but removed them before installing WA. Today I installed the new patch. It has stuffed up my game - ALL the relationships have disappeared. Nothing shows up - not even the relationships of people within the household. It's not like they've been reset to 0 - they are just gone!

I tried socialising with 2 sims. They don't appear in the relationships panel - I'm really confused.

I would think that this would cause the game to work as well as it possibly could. But, it was immediately obvious that seeds, insects and metals no longer spawn. This is how the game would work if I just brought Sims 3 and WA home from the store and installed them on a new computer. Besides the occasional crash, there's also other problems.

Once when there was a burglar, my burglar alarm rang and the police came. However, the policeman would not leave the car and my sim had the interaction "Burglar!" consistently, meaning he couldn't do anything at all. So the burglar, my sim and the policeman can't move> This was resolved when my sim died of hunger and I started a new game.

Next, when I click on other sims to interact with them, no menu pops up. i.e. I can't interact with sims at all.

I hope EA fixes all our problems ASAP.

Also, one last problem is that when I try to create basements, the game will automatically crash. However, before I got the expansion and tried to create basements, it worked fine. There isn't any way of getting these files back to my knowledge, as they are deleted to prevent too much data from being kept. It's just a clean out to keep the game working (I assume.)

Sim's can't interact. Sim can't gain skills: tried cooking, telescope, nothing. Won't even play chess! Skills panel is gone. My career doesn't show what skills I need to improve to get a promotion. There are no skills books in ANY bookshelf, and the only books available to buy from the bookstore are novels: no skill books of any sort.

Hopefully EA are on to this as this is totally unacceptable. How could the game go Gold when there are clearly so many problems? I understand that in the world of PCs they are all configured differently, but I've never heard of a problem on the scale of this! And especially from a studio as large as EA.

I cant install without the patch... everytime i try to download the patch, (either through WA or the base game launcher) it just tells me that it failed, doesnt tell me why, doesnt give me an error code, nothing.

Never Needed to Post Until Now...

PS - I've been to Paris before in real life and I was surprised when, on the back of the packaging, it says something to the effect of "visit landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe". Ummm...you can see the tower in the background, but you cannot 'visit' it and there is definitely no Arc de Triomphe in the game. I've been there - it's nowhere to be found in the Sims version of France. Unless I'm missing something?

UPDATE: After problems upon problems, I unistalled my OS (Windows 7) and reinstalled Vista - game works beautifully now! So, I saved and quit, then downloaded the newest most recent update a few minutes ago, and went back to my game. He now responds and does actions again except for one little [i]itty-bitty[/i] problem...he's invisible! I can only tell where he is when I have him selected and I see the Plumbob.....other than that, I have no idea where he is.

His wife and infant baby are fine, but he's just the one that's having all the issues.....first his shoes were glued to the floor, now he's invisible.

I just downloaded the newest patch for the save issues, and other than the error 16 my game pre-patch was perfectly fine. Now, it's sporadic. Occasionally she's completely blank, with no moodlets, traits, relationships, inventory, limetime rewards, icon or action queue. The past few times I've tried she's just had a blank relationship panel, and when she tries to socialize she gets the blank relationship-builder bar where it should say "X thinks Y is being..." and it's double-red. On a tragic note, I was in China once with her and the person she needed to talk to for an adventure completely froze and starved to death because he wouldn't move. No idle actions or movements, just static. She also occasionally, while vacationing now, will sporadically poof back to her base camp, no matter where she was before.

I've seen some mention of some of these issues before, but I'd just like to know if I'm the only one who has them all at the same time.

My problem is this. I sent my sim off to France again (she seems to like going there) and while she was there, she met a man, fell in love and got married. The house creation screen came up where I could choose to have him move into my sim's Riverview home. That worked without a problem. The two of them hung out together until the end of the holiday, and then I was sent back to Riverview.

Here's where my problem started. Her new husband wasn't with her when she returned. She still had the married moodlet, and her family tree recognised her spouse (without a picture though) but he wasn't on the lot. I then discovered that she'd lost all of her relationships with everyone. The relationship panel was empty. I sent her down to the park to 're-meet' her friends to see what would happen. She couldn't meet anyone she didn't already know before the glitch. When she talked to the people she did know before the glitch, the relationship bar was completely red in both directions (interactions didn't change this), and even when the sims were having a conversation they didn't reappear in her relationship panel. I've decided that (at least for the moment) she's hopelessly glitched and I've moved onto another neighbourhood/saved game file.

I'm using a windows Vista desktop with well above the minimum specs, no mods or custom content, and all of the available patches installed.

The error was a cyclic redundancy error and the place it would get stuck is as follows:

Exact same place with both disks. I am now stuck with this disk that my dvd drive has fried. I have to wonder if the disk is the reason my dvd drive is now shot. Well, not shot really, it starts sims 2 going just fine.

I had to digital download which I *did not* want to do. I don't want to worry about having to be tied to the internet to be able to play. =( If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Once I installed via digital download, the game ran like a dream. Smooth as silk, no lag at all. The game loaded in less than a minute. The vacation areas loaded within 2 minutes or less. Plenty of local sims in each area. Still no lag. Smooth gameplay which I think is awesome. Graphics etc all still set on high by default btw.

[b]The only bugs I encountered were:[/b]

sim went to get into the tent at base camp in Egypt, but got stuck just standing by the tent. I had to exit w/o saving because he would have soon died.

The game crashed to desktop one time I think in Egypt but can't remember which place for sure.

All in all, I love this EP, very cool. Thanks for fixing the camera angles EA =D

And got the new patch, (I had never had a patch on the game yet because I didn't want to lose my CC),but I finally decided to yesterday to remove all CC and mods and try the patch out.

And it works great, no problems playing at all, played all day yesterday.

Not missing any thing ether, of course I also started over with a whole new game, which means I lost all of the games I had before removing the CC and mods.

So that may be why.

In any case the patch seems fine, with no CC or and a all new game.

I had always been against getting any of the patches, because of the CC, but now I am glad I did it.

So its like a new game.

My main problem is how much my game is lagging now. It takes at least 20 minutes to load my game, another 20 minutes to send my sims abroad, and then when I finally get a chance to play it lags. It's just not acceptable.
I have uninstalled all CC (I had no mods) and I've done a fresh install of the game. It still lags.

It's such a shame because when I do get to the holiday destinations (well, the one destination that I've been able to visit so far) they are beautiful and packed with things to do.
I was so looking forward to WA, but it's put me off buying any more sim related games until I know they're working correctly. This should all be sorted before the game is released, no?[/b]

What is this “error 13”? “Post save callback failure”.
All I know is I spent $40 on a game I cannot play!
I am thinking of uninstalling the WA. I can’t get my $40 bucks back, but I certainly won’t be buying another sims game for a long time. I am use to playing the game for hours at a time, but it is not worth the frustration if my game crashes and I lose my town and everything that I have spent hours to gain.

When she arrived home, I went into build mode to make a little outdoor martial arts practice area. I noticed the basement tool and I really wanted to check it out, so I click on it.

Road texture messing up- no road texture, just grey pixels
No traits
No lifetime rewards

It might not sound like much compared to some but they are stopping the game being that bit more fun. Especially having no traits Also, France looks terrible without proper roads.

I also have the common problems of investments no longer earning money, my house is haunted my ghosts at all hours of the day and night instead of just at night, food goes off very quickly, etc.

I have also notice that people are forgetting they are friends with each other. One of my Sims went to work and came back and forgot he even *liked* his wife. 1 The old error code 16 thing -- that seems to be fixed.

2 The game created a duplicate copy of one of my Sims. The "clone" never goes anywhere -- he just hangs around in a tomb in Egypt and never moves.

3 Food in the refrigerator spoils VERY fast.

4 After returning from a trip to China, my Sim loses ALL of his relationships -- even the ones with his own family. It's as if he has never met another Sim ever. Not even his own family is listed. I thought maybe they would come back when I talk to them but when I talk to another Sim, all I see in the relationship bars is solid red in both directions. I then noticed that the same problem existed for family members that didn't even go on the trip. After reloading the save game, the Sim that returned from the trip was gone entirely and his mother was mourning his death.

5 When I try to go back to China after going there once, the Chinese city loads just fine but the family simply vanishes. I'm left looking at the Chinese town with no Sims there to play.

This is the SIXTH generation I've played with this family, and that's with the 190 day lifespan. I'm now wondering if all of that history I've spent months building is gone forever now.

Edit: I'm wondering if the disappearing relationships bug could be triggered when you go on a trip without taking everyone in the family. I had no problem with this when I took the whole family to Egypt. The disaster happened when I took one member of the family to China and left the rest at home. Has everyone that has been hit by this bug seen it after taking PART of a household on a trip?

Sim Had a Laptop in his "backpack", which he used, but then didn't returned into back into his "backpack". I was unable to return it back into the "backpack". After that the game crashed when i wanted to talk to sim aout "quest"

1. The "Error Code 16" message again when I try to save. I got around it temporarily by using the "Save As..." and overwriting my files with the same name, but that's not what I want to do! I'm also not sure if the file overwriting or the installation of WA caused

2. the disappearance of my entire family tree! I no longer even have the option to click on the button. It just mocks me. Outside Sims coming into my family have their own family trees just fine, but as soon as I click on any member of the main family I was playing, the family tree has vanished. I have mods and CC within the game. I used the Sims WA disk to upload the patch update and finally got a message that the patch updated. I kept using EA manager and even a saved version of the patch, but the patch only updated properly with the Sims WA CD. I hope this helps. Good luck to everyone. That's right, my game is gone. The Goth home reverted back to it's original state but cannot be accessed at all.

On the screen where you choose which of your saved sims to play my "Goth Family" save shows an EMPTY outline of the original family (Gunther, Cornelia and Mortimer as a child and their original house). I had the same saving problem after installing the expansion. I clicked "save as" and saved my game under a brand new name, and it worked for me; I was able to save and open that save file. 1. After splitting a household from the neighborhood screen and merging that sim with another household, I'm not able to load the merged household. When I click on that house, it doesn't even act like it's going to load -- I just lose all interface, with only the neighborhood screen and no ability to do anything at all.

2. Saving leftovers in the refrigerator is a waste of time, because it spoils as quickly there as it would if you left it lying on the counter.

3. The omni plants are wonky. Only a couple of sims in the household can feed the omni plant, but not the sim who has the ability to order and plant them??!! And speaking of ordering omni seeds -- my sim keeps ordering them, but the omni seeds never arrive in the mail.

With 8 sims in the house, only 2 can feed the omni plant, and one of those has the least amount of gardening skill in the family (2 points, I think). All of the sims have the option to feed the omni, but nothing happens when you click it (except for those 2 sims). These omni plants were planted after installing WA -- in fact, the sim only got the omni challenge after I'd installed WA. So it's not a case of pre-existing omni plants corrupted from the new game installation.

4. When trying to go on vacation, I keep getting the vacation destination's neighborhood screen, but my sims are not present. I keep exiting to the main menu without saving. For some reason, if I leave the kids at home with grandpa, the parents can go. I'm wondering if the problem is trying to take a group with mixed visa levels on vacation (parents and grandpa are visa level 1, but the kids have never been, so they're level 0). I chose the shortest number of days (since the kids weren't visa level 1 yet), but had the same result.

5. One sim, immediately upon returning from her first vacation, got a message that she'd fulfilled her lifetime want (learning all the recipes). I'm not sure why it fulfilled then, since she hadn't studied any recipes on vacation -- and in fact, hadn't learned them ALL, since she hasn't learned all the new vacation recipes yet. She did get her lifetime points, but her lifetime want field is now blank, and she doesn't seem to spawn many regular wants at all (at least not as often as the other sims in the house).

6. In Egypt, all of the stores were open the first day, but only 2 stores remained open the rest of the trip. My sim wanted to purchase something from one of the closed(?) shops, and kept waiting for the vendor to show up during the day, but they never did.

My biggest problem, is I cannot save after coming back from vacation... i dont get any "Error code box" instead, my game just simply "Freezes" while trying to save , whether it be save, or save as.... I have to ctrl-alt-delete out of the game, and when I come back, I've lost my entire save game... T.T It really sucked to have lost everything...

My next problems, are even with my graphics on highest settings, (I just bought a new really good video card just for this expansion!) Did you have mods which added life fruit and\or flame fruit to the grocery store. There is also a mod which allows you to buy all fish as well as any mods that added skill books to the store such as guitar skill boots. If so remove them. When I installed the 1.7 patch The Sims 3, my woman began to rejuvenate a few days in advance.
Same thing after installing WA.

Heres the thing if we dont say any thign then how will they know what to fix!! It is not complaining so much as this needs to be fixed. Like that my sim married the General Store Clerk and now in France there is no one at the General Store so you cant buy any thing. my daughter was playing and she made it to a level 3 visa in Japan and once she did that when she would go back she was longer friends with any one she knew, but when she would go back to Japan they would all be friends. Her sim had a baby with one of the other sims in Japan and the baby has no father. After buying a vacation home she no longer had her home in Rivverview. okay so when i build towns, i extensively build the houses and families... do the whole town.. before i actually start playing any of those families. so last night, i finished my town and started playing. tried to save, error code 16. so i tried save as and changed the name. error code 13. went to play this morning, the entire town is missing. all my effing hard work.

also, all the time now my mouse on screen looks like it's grabbing something, when it isn't.. which i don't understand at all.

Taxi cab got stuck in front of my house after several vacations.

I was engaged to a French lady, after a vacation the Engaged icon went away and I can not get it back, and can not ask her to move in. Meanwhile she has had 3 children w/ my sim, when my sim goes to visit her the next day after she visits, The child is already child age (assuming that is b/c toddlers & babies can not go on vacation)

Medical Sims w/ research journals in their inventory lose them when they travel and they do not come back upon returning home.

New Sim, she was handy, natural cook, book worm, she didn't receive any books in her inventory upon starting the game.

Spoiled food in fridge, my newest gal's went bad in hours.

Tombs do not reset.

My first night with WA went flawlessly, and my sims spent six days in China. But when they returned home and I tried to save after about six sim hours, using both save and save as, the game would crash and return to the desktop. So I did the following, to no avail though, but maybe it will help someone else:

-deleted cache files and certain package files (don't hold me to specifics, it was recommended in regards to the same problem with the base game and helped with that for a while)
-downloaded CFF Explorer to allow the game to use more than 2GB of ram, if that was the problem
-rolled back my graphics driver as there was a compatibility issue between WA and the latest nVidia driver
-uninstalled and reinstalled both base game and expansion without patching to v2.2
-got rid of all my mods and CC, even after reinstalling

Honestly, I've tried every single recommended fix for this save issue. But I have to be honest that that is the only problem. The game runs fine, China was amazing and the only other glitch I've noticed is that when I go to Town View, my sims' home is replaced with the one that was there before I built the new one. And when I go back to their home, everything is fine.

Just a bit sad I can't enjoy the game like everyone else, but think I'm lucky enough to have at least had a bit of a rummage and ramble through China.

Hope someone comes up with a fix soon, because I can't wait to ravage France (in a good way, lol) and trail blaze in Egypt!

1. still getting error 13 and 16 messages.
2. Game freezes randomly.
3. When you move between lots it takes forever for details to load in.

I know that the new (WA/patch) save format is a folder, and I can find those new saves I've made in the main Sims 3 folder, but they are not appearing on the main menu within the game. How do I fix this? Is there any way for me to access any of those saved games?

Obviously this makes gameplay extremely frustrating since I cannot get back into any game I've started since WA.

I have a beautiful house and really nice sims with hundreds of mods and it's very frustrating that I can't use them. The Store doesn't have enough clutter, paintings and objects to make a house real.

Number One:
I was doing an adventure in China and I had to go to Paris to collect some opal to give to a woman, but I didn't have the axe from China to be able to break the stones, so I cancelled the quest, then went back and did the quest for the axe, got the axe and have since been unable to get the quest back. This presents a problem because I can no longer get any other adventures in China or France because that one part of the quest hasn't been reset and I've travelled to both France and China to try and solve the problem, but so far no good.

Number Two:
I had made 12 different combinations of nectar and when I travel, it cancels out the list of nectar that I make, forcing me to go back to the start with 0 combinations of nectar produced.

When I had saved the game he was alive and holding his new baby. I load the game and the wife is showing the heartbreak witnessing a death moodlet. I looked at the wife's friends list and he is still showing in her relationship tab but sort of greyed out. She called him long distance. To get him home, she had to invite him as a foreign visitor. Then I had to use the cheat to add him to active family. He was now unemployed yet he still had his skills. Some of his clothes had also changed.

Now, the family tree is screwed up. In their relationship tabs they show as husband and wife (the little wedding rings are there) and they are listed as husband and wife under their names. But, they show no partners and other sims view them as single. They view the bed as either his or hers not theirs.

They can't remarried because on some levels they show as married even though on other levels they show as not-married. *sigh* I took a screenie of them together with the wife showing the broken heart thought bubble with his picture.

I will never send a member of a household overseas, again. Not until this is fixed. aside from the mirror and dresser glitch I have one major glitch that's ruining my game, I can not get a relationship score between a new baby and his parents. I tried aging up the baby to toddler and still no relationship.

I've been playing with no problems until today. My sims was way up there, had houses in 2 countries! I went to Egypt and it loaded in an average amount of time, and I get there and.... nothing. My sim does not exist. I have the normal bottom bar, but no sim, no interaction options, the health is perfect, no wants or needs, no inventory, no phone. Here's my information:
Have CC (All '.package' files), Don't have second patch (and with no intention to get it).

The only major glitch I have is that my Sim (like the OP, Ellie) keeps changing age. The oldest I have gotten to is 6 Sim days before becoming an adult (she's young adult now). It isn't affected by the mirror, or travelling. She just keeps changing age at random intervals. I've now turned aging off to deal with that.

For some reason I don't seem to be able to get romantic interactions to work. The Sims behave correctly, and then in the little 'feeling' icon, the sort of speech bubble that tells you how the other Sim feels, says for a moment:
<Sim> thinks that <Sim> is being flirty,
before quickly changing to (in about a second):
<Sim> thinks <Sim> is okay.
No romantic relationships can be formed. Is quite irksome.

Uhh.. well those are the two major issues I've found at the moment. Oh that and that I don't seem to be able to use skeleton keys at the moment. I haven't tried very hard to test them mind you.

I can get them to relax on the bed and then Woohoo appears as an option, but when selecting it they sit and look at each other and then 10 secs later they appear standing up about 10 feet from the bed.

Yes, I had that happen to my martial arts equipment and a Chinese storage box. I moved, and they didn't come with me. They didn't show up in my family inventory. I had to go back to China and buy the equipment again.

I assume that this is working as intended. It's great for players like me, because I often don't get a chance to finish exploring a tomb before I have to leave. I can go back later and pick up where I left off. For players who want to adventure with multiple sims in the same game, it's not so great.

- Gems and metals bought from relic merchants don't count towards the percentage of collected gems/metals found. I believe they should.

- Sudden crashes out of program.

- My Sim often ages one day per vacation, though I have aging set off.

- Tombs are not resetting if you don't count random treasure reappearing. Major annoyance.

- Some portraits in relationships show as black.

Ageing messed up. I went on vacation with my sim 8 days away from becoming an adult. When i returned he is 38 days away from becoming an adult.

Cannot access the family tree on my main sim but can on the others in his family.

The new lifetime rewards not working correctly IE the sleep for a shorter time one and the no jealousy.

The fridges not keeping food fresh no matter what i try.

When i try starting a new hood if i go to the library i get a message that none of the bookcases have any books in them if i try and click on them .

All hacks and CC were removed before installing and updating and none yet put back in so they are not causing this

I don't use any mods or such at the moment and very little CC .. the game has enough for me right now. I think anyone experiencing problems should post about their mods and CC to see if one/some of those are commonly seen causing trouble.

Aside from the differences in hardware and OS set ups between users which could cause variations in problems, some people have mentioned installing mods to their game. I think this is highly likely to be the source of many problems and with everyone having different mods the variety of bugs that they could throw up must be exponential...

1. After splitting a household from the neighborhood screen and merging that sim with another household, I'm not able to load the merged household. When I click on that house, it doesn't even act like it's going to load -- I just lose all interface, with only the neighborhood screen and no ability to do anything at all.

2. Saving leftovers in the refrigerator is a waste of time, because it spoils as quickly there as it would if you left it lying on the counter.

3. The omni plants are wonky. Only a couple of sims in the household can feed the omni plant, but not the sim who has the ability to order and plant them??!! And speaking of ordering omni seeds -- my sim keeps ordering them, but the omni seeds never arrive in the mail.

With 8 sims in the house, only 2 can feed the omni plant, and one of those has the least amount of gardening skill in the family (2 points, I think). All of the sims have the option to feed the omni, but nothing happens when you click it (except for those 2 sims). These omni plants were planted after installing WA -- in fact, the sim only got the omni challenge after I'd installed WA. So it's not a case of pre-existing omni plants corrupted from the new game installation.

4. When trying to go on vacation, I keep getting the vacation destination's neighborhood screen, but my sims are not present. I keep exiting to the main menu without saving. For some reason, if I leave the kids at home with grandpa, the parents can go. I'm wondering if the problem is trying to take a group with mixed visa levels on vacation (parents and grandpa are visa level 1, but the kids have never been, so they're level 0). I chose the shortest number of days (since the kids weren't visa level 1 yet), but had the same result.

5. One sim, immediately upon returning from her first vacation, got a message that she'd fulfilled her lifetime want (learning all the recipes). I'm not sure why it fulfilled then, since she hadn't studied any recipes on vacation -- and in fact, hadn't learned them ALL, since she hasn't learned all the new vacation recipes yet. She did get her lifetime points, but her lifetime want field is now blank, and she doesn't seem to spawn many regular wants at all (at least not as often as the other sims in the house).

6. In Egypt, all of the stores were open the first day, but only 2 stores remained open the rest of the trip. My sim wanted to purchase something from one of the closed(?) shops, and kept waiting for the vendor to show up during the day, but they never did.

An update to my earlier post...

--I've since been able to access my merged family after successfully getting them moved into another house.

--My omni plants suddenly fixed themselves and all the omni seeds my sim has ordered for a sim week all arrived in the mail at once.

--The sim with the missing lifetime want achievement now has it, and she's getting wants normally now.

--My vacations have been going well and I haven't had any more problems with the sims loading in the vacation destination properly -- BUT I've been careful to only send sims of the same visa level together on the trip. I'm not sure if that's what the true problem is, but so far, it's working for me.

So that's the good news. Now a few more bugs I've noticed:

1. Is it just me, or does the new music that was supposed to come with this expansion pack NEVER play on the radio? I've tried buying new stereos, but the new songs never play... EVER. The only reason I know they even exist in the game is by searching for them in the list of songs under options.

2. My green thumb sim with level 10 gardening skill no longer has the ability to revive dead plants.

By the way...All my rocks are blue. I like my pink diamond being pink. They all turned blue after I put them in my "knapsack inventory". I mean the rock itself before you get it cut. I have EXACTLY the same problem. I tried running it after taking out the mods from the mods folder and also removed the cache, still, the same thing: click the "play" on the launcher, got a Black screen and then back to deaktop. It happens in less than 10 seconds after hitting "play". I have the latest patch.

The first problem I'm having is that I can't seem to place cars on lots. I buy the space, the space goes down fine, but when I try to place the car on it, it doesn't want to place. It just keeps bonking at me telling me "can't intersect other objects." I have to use move objects cheat to actually put a car on a lot. I haven't yet tested to see if the cars are actually drivable by Sims yet since using the move objects cheat.


Every now and then when a Sim is supposed to return from vacation, the clock stops one minute before they're supposed to leave and they're just...stuck on vacation. Dreamlord, I had the same exact problem. I bet you have a Nvidia and have the latest drivers. Those drivers are bad. Try rolling them back or using the latest beta drivers. So, I have successfully married an Egyptian man and moved him back to Riverview. Next, I tried to marry a Frenchman, but he didn't show up in Riverview when I asked him to visit. Sadly, his "Simerican" girlfriend couldn't invite any OTHER foreign visitors over, because the game said that her French BF was there. I can assure you he was not.

Undaunted, my Sim went to China and met an unmarried Young Adult there - Shing Hong. They fell in love and married right there in China. He and his sister were supposed to move back in with my base family in Riverview. He came, the sister did not. However, I couldn't even click on him - he was "stuck" somewhere off the Riverview map.

That's when things REALLY got weird...

I tried little cheat options just for the sake of figuring out where he lived. I tried to go to "Edit Town", but the camera wouldn't permit edge-scrolling all of a suddent, so I was trapped with a view of the field at the outskirts of town, where it said Shing Hong "was". Then, the camera started zooming in and out of the spot in the field, really slowly. It would head down towards the ground, then back up, and I couldn't move it.

After a lot of "Just Continue" and "Quit Without Saving", I tried the "Split Household" option once I could focus on my house. The game totally crashed - the first time it has EVER crashed, even just with the base game. When I reloaded the game, I found my entire family had disappeared from the house they were in. I quit again, reloaded again, and they were back. Shing Hong had also successfully "moved out" without my interference.

Happy enough, I resigned my Sim to an unwed lifestyle, changed my mental storyline for her, and had her adopt a child. The child showed up - like Shing Hong - in the family pictures along the lefthand side of the screen, but she too was unclickable and wouldn't arrive in the house. The social worker command froze so my Sim couldn't try to adopt again, and no one was moving anywhere.

And, still, all family trees are gone - no relationships for anyone in the house (whether they traveled to China or not) either, this time.

I was horrified by the missing family tree, since I really use/love that window. Now, though, with no relationships, a crashing game, and sims getting stuck, I'm starting to get angry.
