At the theater, the concerts are shorter(2-3 hours) and they pay less.(I was making anywhere from $300-900 a concert)

At the stadium, the concerts last upwards to 3-4 hours and they pay almost triple.($1200-2400)

Actually in TS3 skills arent required at all for advancement...they just speed up the increase in your job performance...you can just meet people and socialize with them to move up too...doing boss interactions is good too...
you also dont have to do the same activity throughtout your work day...you can change the option as u see fit.

so [b]handy[/b] and [b]green thumb [/b]are excellent traits for science. and [b]angler[/b] can be good as well. also since you have such a high gardening skill and fairly high fishing, you will eventually be able to grow/catch all the best items for the cooking recipes.

I can also confirm that at some point you get life fruit and then flame fruit(either from it appearing from work, or possibly just appearing in your inventory when you reach a certain level in gardening.

starting at rank 5 or 6 i think, you work 4days a week from 9am-130pm and at rank 10 you work 3days a week for same hours(MTF).

1) i just tried out journalism career the other day and charismatic and artistic traits help as artistic helps you learn to write faster, and charismatic increases how fast you learn charisma(you start to need charisma skill at like rank 4 or 5 in journalism). friendly or another social trait could help as well for getting people to accept and finish interviews.

2) also, once you can start to write interviews and reviews(like rank 3 or 4 in the career path) you can choose to 'review' a restaurant or event place(like the bistro, diner, theater, sports game) and will get into it for free and then be able to use your computer to write a positive or negative review on it to help you get promoted.
3) You can also start rummaging through peoples trashcans to try to find dirt on them to write a negative review of them(you can find lots of random items you can sell or use from their cans. My sim found many bubblebaths and stuffed bears before he had found what he needed to write his article)

4) journalism job performance so far seems to need mood, writing, interviews/reviews, and charisma as you get higher in the ranks. ive only made it to rank 5 or 6 so ill let you know if i find out more

you are able to start training other sims in althetic once you hit 6 athletic skill, not from being in sports career. my military sim was able to train sims at rank 6 in athletic skill

military career: astronaut(rank 10) - you work 1 day, from mon 7am til tues 1am
(thought he only worked 6hrs until it was 2pm mon and saw he wasnt even halfway through work lol)

music career: artistic helps increase how fast you learn the guitar, any trait or office hero lifetime reward that helps you gain relationship with your band members for promotion will be good(my sims bandmembers and boss kept constantly changing due to them retiring so she constantly had to hand out with them at work to build up the value.

For the Music Career, you can actually hold an autograph session at just about any business, not just the Theater & Stadium. Like the Spa, Grocery, Bookstore, Bistro, etc... but can only perform concerts at Theater & Stadium.

Someone mentioned the writing skill and it just so happens my simself is maxed out in the writing skill. He has the writing achievements "Fantasy Author" and "Speed Writer" he also has the Artistic trait and he can write a book in about 2 days. So he writes a couple of books a week and I think he's making about 12000-13000 a week in royalties. Needless to say, he is "Unemployed". He just writes books and takes care of the kids.

As a side note, my sims make so much money, they are considered "Rich". I was looking at the family tree and noticed on the bottom, beneath the traits, there was another category called "other" or something like that, and it had a simoleon sign and it said "rich". This applied to the children as well.

The way I understand it, traits 'help' by adding to stat increases. The exception is appaently the workaholic trait, this makes you 'happier' at work, meaning you perform better.

As for everything else... I'm unsure. As I said, most of this was from the Prima guide... which to be honest, isn't that good. I Presume you just click on the.. say.. warehouse at night or something, as I haven't checked it out yet. The same with the special agent career.

As for the 'show jet (level 9) and show spaceship (level 10) in the Military... again it's odd. There gives no option to 'show' it to anyone... However I'm looking into this.

I believe that the distinction needs to be made between the traits. Possible distinction as follows:

1. Direct Performance Benefit Trait: ex. Brave, Workaholic, Ambitious. i.e. You see an increase to job performance from these traits directly.

2. Indirect Performance Benefit Trait: ex. Handy, Green Thumb. i.e. The skills that increase job performance build quicker with these traits.

I'm sure they mean the latter. For the law enforcement career, it helps if you are brave but the athletic skill is also helpful. After all, cops need to be fit to catch burglars.

The ability to raid the criminal warehouse is available in the Secret agent branch and is added when you reach level 10. You have to have Athletic and Logic maxed too. I think I'm forgetting another skill but I'm sure of those two at least.

I havent had anyone in the criminal or military branches yet so I cant answer that question. And as for the science one, I never had brave as their trait so I cant answer that one either.

Actually in TS3 skills arent required at all for advancement...they just speed up the increase in your job performance...you can just meet people and socialize with them to move up too...doing boss interactions is good too...
you also dont have to do the same activity throughtout your work day...you can change the option as u see fit.

The Tour Bus on the other hand takes the place of the cab and your ride to work. So as a Male rockstar if you don't have a car and you decide to go to the stadium, you will get into the tour bus, not a cab. can i just say that sometimes the criminal warehouse will stay closed after being raided, so afterwards sims who work criminal career will not be able to go to work (but will still get negative effects of missing work such as "missing work" moodlet and - towards next promotion (so could get fired).

might want a warning in case someone has 2 sims with both careers in same neighbourhood. (if this does happen you have to delete the warehouse in edit town and place a new 1 in its place)

Bookworm will help Sims read a lot faster so they will learn more stuff from the books. They will also learn more from chess , preparing meals , basically everything (ect) , and even watching tv.

You get the refrigerator at Level 10 -- but around Level 5 or 6 you get a food processor but I'm not sure if it's any better than the one you can get through Buy mode. Angler and Green Thumb might also help on Culinary track because some of the challenges involve bringing in fish or produce to the restaurant, which adds a boost to your job performance and helps to get the promotions. (My single Sim is already at the top of the Culinary track, and he got his lifetime wish which was to learn all the recipes.)

[i]In the Politics career[/i]:
- you are given opportunities to illegally take money from your campaign funds (this options appears when you reach the level that allows you to ask for donations, which I believe is 4 or 5, and was mentioned previously in an earlier post). I am not sure what the intervals this option occurs at are, but you get more money through this if you raise more funds (not sure what the equation is). As far as I know there is no real drawback (such as getting in trouble with the law) to taking out money, but it will make your funding level contribution to performance either go down or "reset"(so if you have the green big smile under funding before you take funds out illegally it will go down to an orange frowning face, at least it did for me). The amount you get with great funding is quite high (I often got 5,000 simoleans from a single illegal steal, although you might be able to get more than that)
- The Party Animal trait and/or Legendary Host reward helps you throw good campaign fundraisers since they are much more efficient at collecting campaign donations than individually asking everyone. I seem to get more money from a good party than a modest or bad one. It's also a good idea to invite as many "rich" Sims as you can so they can contribute even more, and don't hesitate to ask them for donations while the fundraiser party is in session (I don't think doing this effects the totel they give you when they leave and auto-donate).
- The Schmoozer/Charismatic trait combo is great for making quick friends and then getting that all-important campaign donation with little effort.
- You can write a Political Memoir via your writing skill and the computer. It is a relatively long book to write but has a three dollar sign rating.
- The highest Political career level only has you work 3 days a week from 9am to 12:30pm, and you can keep getting raises easily and therefore build up your cash amount rapidly by throwing campaign fundraisers frequently during all of that offtime!

In the Journalism career:
- You can write either positive or negative reviews on venues and people. Writing positive reviews increases your relationship with Sims and/or the Sims who work at the venue you wrote about, but they are not very interesting and therefore don't give a good boost to job performance. Writing negative review hurts your relationship with the Sim or venue employees, but are interesting enough to give you a performance boost.
- Journalists can use their writing skill and a computer to write an Article, which is quick to write but only has a one dollar sign rating.
- Journalists can talk about interesting news with other Sims at the high career levels, which is a another good interation option that gets you one step closer to a good interview!
- The Slob trait and/or Dirt Defiant reward helps dumpster-diving Journalists (as well as Police officers) get the "dirt" they need for a good review while not suffering the hygiene and mood loss associated with the digging and trash-accumulation as quickly as other Sims, meaning you can spend more time collecting information than in the shower and going home to dump the trash from your inventory.

I am not sure if this was a glitch or an intended feature, but when I had a Police Sim raid the criminal headquarters it prevented any career criminals or partners/owners from entering the warehouse, therefore causing the criminals to miss work and shareholders to be unable to collect their weekly profits! Also: When you get to "Mad Scientist" in the Science Career. You get a gizmo (something that kinda looks like that zap gun in sims2 that the repo uses) Yeah but this changes things you have like tv or bed..I have tried it on stuff in my home and it leaves a green circle looking mist around the item you zap...lol but be careful somethings can do thing in a negative way to a sim using or passing by an item. What I have done is if it says it will be negative I just redo it so it can be positive..which is better for your sim lol unless your evil and just want to bother people

As far as I know there is no real drawback (such as getting in trouble with the law) to taking out money, but it will make your funding level contribution to performance either go down or "reset"(so if you have the green big smile under funding before you take funds out illegally it will go down to an orange frowning face, at least it did for me). The amount you get with great funding is quite high (I often got 5,000 simoleans from a single illegal steal, although you might be able to get more than that)

In response to Kirbster226's question, I've looked and it seems that all you need is to keep your logic up. If you have a sim like mine and he has the Chess Legend life wish, this would be perfect for them.

Yesterday, I discovered that if you have even one point in charisma and as long as you're meeting people, you are able to unlock the first two challenges. This is helpful if you plan on doing anything with the charisma skill. I believe my sim is already at level 4 and it's due mostly to just talking to people.

This works extremely well if you come from a large family - my sim is the oldest of five, so I had a lot of birthday parties so far.

Just learned a couple more things if they haven't been mentioned yet -

Apparently, level 8 or 9 (not sure which) of Journalism, you also get a limo. Now - I'm not actually SURE of this. This sim is the son of a hit movie composer, who has died. If that's the case, then children from the musical career inherit the limo when the parent sim dies.

Medical sims get pagers and can be occasionally on call (like real doctors)

Charismatic sims can ask for pormotions or raises from bosses (you have to do so in person)

To go along with Journalism, articles count as books, so if you have a sim that has the writing skill, these count toward books (ie, if they have five books and they do five articles, they have 10 best sellers on their hands)

No, I think this is part of politics. I have other sims who are friendly or charismatic and only the sim in politics gets these responses. IE, if anyone talks to her, they can debate politics if they know she's in politics.

It's based on career and traits. For example, sims who are virtuosos or artistic can discuss art or music, just as when people discover these traits, they can also discuss. It's just like in real life - if you discover that I'm in music, you'll naturally ask something about music. 1) i just tried out journalism career the other day and charismatic and artistic traits help as artistic helps you learn to write faster, and charismatic increases how fast you learn charisma(you start to need charisma skill at like rank 4 or 5 in journalism). friendly or another social trait could help as well for getting people to accept and finish interviews.

2) also, once you can start to write interviews and reviews(like rank 3 or 4 in the career path) you can choose to 'review' a restaurant or event place(like the bistro, diner, theater, sports game) and will get into it for free and then be able to use your computer to write a positive or negative review on it to help you get promoted.
3) You can also start rummaging through peoples trashcans to try to find dirt on them to write a negative review of them(you can find lots of random items you can sell or use from their cans. My sim found many bubblebaths and stuffed bears before he had found what he needed to write his article)

4) journalism job performance so far seems to need mood, writing, interviews/reviews, and charisma as you get higher in the ranks. ive only made it to rank 5 or 6 so ill let you know if i find out more

you are able to start training other sims in althetic once you hit 6 athletic skill, not from being in sports career. my military sim was able to train sims at rank 6 in athletic skill

military career: astronaut(rank 10) - you work 1 day, from mon 7am til tues 1am
(thought he only worked 6hrs until it was 2pm mon and saw he wasnt even halfway through work lol)

music career: artistic helps increase how fast you learn the guitar, any trait or office hero lifetime reward that helps you gain relationship with your band members for promotion will be good(my sims bandmembers and boss kept constantly changing due to them retiring so she constantly had to hand out with them at work to build up the value.

But its best for a jouralist sim to do a negative review on movie/restaurant/ sporting event because they get an increase in performance at work for doing so even if the owners of movie/restaurant/stadium don't like you (the sim that is) and you will have to wait 5 days before entering again (but you can still tour).
Positive reviews doesn't help much with your job performance just increases business for Theater/restaurant/stadium.

I have used the Prima guides for all of the Sims games, and IMHO the info found on the forums is more accurate and more complete. Frankly the only thing I like my guide for is the listing of the different traits and the basic info on the pre-made characters. The maps of collectibles are nice, but not something I would buy the guide for--just get the collector bene. I haven't found a lot of errors in the current guide, but the old ones frequently left out traits needed for careers, had the wrong skill level listed, etc. Besides, this list is including things that people have found helpful that wouldn't necessarily be included in the guide. (I had no idea that freaking out via the neurotic trait would improve your work performance. Not sure if anyone answered this later in the thread, but...you can set "Hold Meetings" as your work tone and do this during normal working hours. It hasn't seemed to slow job performance for me so it is working quite well. Also, you can click on the hospital, city hall, corporate towers, etc. and choose the "Hold Meeting" option. Your sim will earn money for their time, and their job performance will increase. I would add Schmoozer for all careers but Medical and Science--it helps with the social aspect of all of the other careers. I have fould that my sims who have been Schmoozers proceed at a faster pace, and I don't have to work on those relationships outside of the office.

Workaholic isn't necessary at all for the Professional Sports career. Unless you are "Working Hard" you will not get stressed at this career (maybe sports is just soooo much fun?) and you can only "Work Hard" if you are a Workaholic.

Bene for Sports--you can do an Advertising Deal at various locations around town. The pay isn't as good as the autograph sessions, but it doesn't take as long. It can lead to some stress so make sure your sim has a full fun meter before going in. I think both the Autograph Session and the Advertising can only be done once each week.

Edit: You work 6 days per week with this career if you include game days. Doesn't leave much time for family or hobbies. Workaholic isn't necessary at all for the Professional Sports career. Unless you are "Working Hard" you will not get stressed at this career (maybe sports is just soooo much fun?) and you can only "Work Hard" if you are a Workaholic.

Bene for Sports--you can do an Advertising Deal at various locations around town. The pay isn't as good as the autograph sessions, but it doesn't take as long. It can lead to some stress so make sure your sim has a full fun meter before going in. I think both the Autograph Session and the Advertising can only be done once each week.

If your sim has a weekend off and you need skills quick, then type in testingcheatsenabled true in the cheat box then shift click on the mail box and select make all happy it raises moods but then repeat but click make needs static (Freezes) you keep the moodlets of slept well, squeaky clean and estatic. Then get your sim to skill, they don't get fatique, you can take freewill off and they skill all day and night without stopping unles sthe die of old age or are pregnant (maybe with birthday) (The shift click mail box step does it for whole family!) You will get donations from everyone as they leave your party. You can also ask for donations from each individual guest (Friendly social menu). When you are at work you may get an opportunity to move money from your campaign account to your personal account. I have never done it as it will get your sim fired if they get caught. If my sim were lucky and had the moodlet at the time I might--if I had just done a save.

Tips: Invite rich sims--they give more. Frugal sims may not give at all if asked personally and your relationship will take a hit. Good sims love to contribute to good causes so always invite those with the good trait and hit them up during the party. I have done this and you end up with a huge donation if give a motivational speech just before asking for the donation. I don't think schmoozer is needed for law enforcement. Any career is helped by being charismatic though. Friendly is good for politicians though not required.

I currently have 20 Money Trees in my Legacy and my earnings are over 30k every second day. (They only have Money Bags every second day) The other day all you do is weed and /or fertilize. Hard work to start off with but becomes a "lazy Job' after you have reached your 8 Perfect Plants and have the Money trees you want. Only Studying needed is Gardening and Cooking if you want those Perfect meals as well.

You get lots of opportunities world wide: Egypt, France and China

So it's 15K and more per day. Very lucrative!
