How to Make Ambrosia (Immortality)

Ambrosia

If you cook and eat it, you'll get a moodlet called "Divine Meal" for +75 Mood for 7 days, and it will reset your Sims life stage.
And makes ghosts come back to life.

You'll need:
$12,000 for Ambrosia Recipe from Bookstore.
10 Cooking.
High Fishing.
High Gardening.

You can buy the recipe from the Bookstore after you reach Max Cooking for $12,000. If you have the Lifetime Reward Bookshop Bargainer, you'll get a discount on it, and it'll only cost you $9,000.

Need to buy cheese from the Grocery store, then fish for Alley Catfish with it.
In my game I can buy the catfish directly from the grocery store removing one step in getting the Death fish.
Then use the Alley Catfish to fish for Angelfish. Take the Angelfish and use it as bait in the pond at the Graveyard at midnight. You'll catch a Deathfish.

FOR RIVERVIEW:
I was looking around other forums and I found this:
They are in one spot of the river right near the graveyard. Where the river is Y shaped to go around the graveyard, there's a school of fish just off the tip of the V part of the Y. That is the school that has the Deathfish in it. You can ONLY catch deathfish between midnight and 5:00 a.m. so don't forget that or you won't catch any.
I tested it, and it's true. There is a school of deathfish right at the very end tip of the graveyard. The river right next to the "Don't fish sign".
You can find Life Fruit seeds laying around town. Won't specifically say Life Fruit Seed.
I found mine in the area directly around the Science Facility but I have heard that they can be found anywhere. They appear as special seeds on the ground.
They're -definitely- Special seeds. Not Rare or Uncommon. Special ones. Pick those up and keep planting them until you get a Life Fruit plant. It won't say what it is till it's fully grown. You'll probably end up with Money Trees, Flame Fruits, or Death Flowers while you're trying to find a Life Fruit. Pick the Life Fruit when it's ready.

After you get all that, you can make Ambrosia! The option for it will be under "Have.." not Serve. It's a single plate. It's all rainbowy and glowy.
I don't know if anyone else has tried this, but I went and spent 50,000 points on the life replicator and it does NOT work on Ambrosia. It cannot be replicated.
------------------------------------------------------------------
"How would you use it to bring someone else back from the dead?"
You have to have the ghost as controllable or something, and have them eat it. I'm not sure how to make ghosts controllable, but you apparently can.
"Is it necessary to have one sim to max out all cooking/fishing/gardening skills?
Or is it possible to let one lvl10 fishing sim to fish the deathfish
and one lvl10 gardening sim to plant the lifefruit
and one lvl10 cooking sim to finally cook it? "
Yes, that's possible. Put the Deathfish and the Life Fruit in the fridge, then have the lvl 10 Cooking Sim go to make it.

------------------------------------------------------------------
Life fruit alone will only add one day to your Sim's lifespan. So if you want to keep them young for a while with life fruit alone until you get Ambrosia, you'll need a few plants of it. I don't *think* it works if it's cooked in pancakes or something, but apparently does if you grill it.

If you're strapped for cash and can't afford 12k for the ambrosia recipe, keep watching the cooking channel and you may get it for free. That's how my sim got hers

As for making ghosts playable, I've done it once so far, and wasn't even aiming for it. I had one of my Simself's close friends (Mary French) die of old age (actually I barely even really interacted with her, but she was a workmate and I did the "talk to co-workers" thing a lot at work XD), and maybe a couple days after she died, I got a special opportunity from the science lab, saying they would try to bring "someone special" back from the grave for me.

I had no idea who it might be, so I went to the mausoleum, clicked on the building and selected "manage dead," and it had Mary French's tombstone in there, which I shifted to my inventory. (I figured why not, I'd at least try it out.) I went to the science lab, completed the opportunity, and they said they kinda messed up. Then all of a sudden, my family has a new live-in member, and it's Mary French's playable ghost. XD
I'm working on this myself. Oh and as a tip if you have around seven or so skills in Gardening you can get a life fruit for free with an opportunity.

Also you need fishing and cooking maxed, not just high.

Re:To Make Ambrosia

Hrmm? My Sim doesn't have maxxed fishing, but she's already made Ambrosia. She could get the Deathfish at level 7 I think. And I can't see why you'd need maxxed gardening either, since you can plant Special seeds at level 7... Maxxed cooking is required though I'm pretty sure, to read the recipe.

I had no idea who it might be (I thought maybe my sim husband's mother, although they'd drifted apart), so I went to the mausoleum, clicked on the building and selected "manage dead," and it had Mary French's tombstone in there, which I shifted to my inventory. (I figured why not, I'd at least try it out.) I went to the science lab, completed the opportunity, and they said they kinda messed up. Then all of a sudden, my family has a new live-in member, and it's Mary French's playable ghost. XD (She'd never even been a playable Sim for me before.)

The Sim Ghosts have needs just like everyone else, dunno what happens though if you starve them or whatever - I don't know if they can die again, or what happens. I didn't realize you could bring them back to life totally with Ambrosia though, so I ended up just moving her out on her own, since while she was cool and all, I already had a pretty full house. XD

Re:To Make Ambrosia
Is it necessary to have one sim to max out all cooking/fishing/gardening skills?

Or is it possible to let one lvl10 fishing sim to fish the deathfish
and one lvl10 gardening sim to plant the lifefruit
and one lvl10 cooking sim to finally cook it?
Ambrosia cannot be made for other sims so your sim of choice will have to master the cooking skill before he or she can make it for themselves. It's worth maximising your fishing and gardening skills to obtain the ingredients because it will take much less time to catch the fish and tend the garden.

Ambrosia cannot be made for other sims so your sim of choice will have to master the cooking skill before he or she can make it for themselves.
The Sim with maxed cooking can make a plate of Ambrosia. They will set it down and leave it alone if they're not hungry. Then you can have another Sim of your choice go and eat the plate of Ambrosia, and they will get the effects.
Seed locations are random, but better seeds tend to be further away from town and houses. The Collection Helper reward item helps with this if you set it to "Seeds"... it labels all items on the map, and when you zoom in they glow with a bright light making them easy to see. Seeds are regenerated every day so you can always find more.

Note special plants seem to grow VERY slowly.

And as for someone getting too old before you can get life fruit... I had the same problem. I married a female sim only to find she was 6 days from elder! I decided to turn off aging because it ruined my chance to really get a family up and running. I'm still trying to get the life fruits (and later ambrosia) so I can turn aging back on...

Re:To Make Ambrosia

Since I didn't see it answered yet:

Life fruit alone will only add one day to your Sim's lifespan. So if you want to keep them young for a while with life fruit alone until you get Ambrosia, you'll need a few plants of it. I don't *think* it works if it's cooked in pancakes or something, but apparently does if you grill it.

As far as I can see, Ambrosia doesn't reset a Sim to younger ages, it just gives you more lifespan in your current age (even, it seems, beyond what the normal would be for that age level? I'm not sure, I haven't noted the usual life spans at each age level).

Oh, and to the person that said they bought the recipe book for it but it vanished... as far as I can tell, you'll only see the books in the bookcase that you can currently read. So if you have skill books that are too high or too low for your Sim, they won't see those in the bookcase, and the same for recipe books that they're too low for.

That way he could impregnant Brandi even after he was dead. (which is what happened in Sims 2) Thanks for telling me how to make ambrosia! Now I have to get Skip's skills up, and figure out how to get Skip back as a playable ghost.

Im going to try this now, I'll come back later to verify. Hope that helps.

Edit: Yep, It's at the very end tip of the graveyard, the river right next to the "Don't fish sign" Theres a school of Deathfish there.

XD

Thanks this is VERY desciptive and simple to follow

Do you know if we are able to simply "buy" the ingredients from the fridge? I have a very cooking-oriented family where the parents are getting pretty close to being elders. I never go out and buy groceries, simply because I can simply click on a stove, select something like "Make Pancakes ($12)" and it will subtract $12 for the ingredients. Are we able to do this for Ambrosia? Just simply buy the fruit and fish?

Regarding bringing a ghost back to life... One sim i have has the opportunistic reward. He got an opportunity to bring someone back to life, so i chose his mom because she's a neatnik and would clean house. hehe Now she goes to work, makes friends, etc. everything she could do in real life. She even wants to kiss someone. She just looks a lil weird. Maybe if i tried ambrosia on her she would "look" alive again.

Yes once a controllable ghost eats ambrosia they return to normal-looking.

I had my sim-friend's grave on my property -I made ambrosia and left it on the counter (i did not have the oh my ghost) i just made the dish and left it on the counter. the friend-ghost (who never lived with me) -ate it said pretty much thank you and i need to go home walked off my property.
only problem is: while she was dead her husband also died and so they don't live there anymore.
Now I finally found her downtown (possibly homeless)
Im on a mission to find if she actually lives in a house/lot and if not try to get her to move in.
I have since resurrected her husband with oh my ghost he is a normal controllable sim-household member and can only meet his resurrected wife by chance downtown. LOL
I'm also curious if he was still alive and living in their home would she have 'really' gone home? or does she need to be resurrected on her 'real' home property (prior to death)? lol

forgive typos etc im rushing =D

Re:How to Make Ambrosia (Immortality)

I tried this and it was so fun!
NOPE Ambrosia cannot be replicated. But get the collector helper (it looks like a butterfly) and set it to "seeds". The ones you want are "rare and special". If it doesn't have the word Special on it then it's not the life plant. YOU NEED the life plant for ambrosia. Cooking 10, Gardening 10, Fishing 10!
And of course the ambrosia cook book

Here is a list of the chain of fish. You need the angel fish to catch the death fish and the death fish can only be found in the graveyard between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m.

And YES you can feed the ambrosia to all of the ghosts in the graveyard and they will come back to life. I tried it just out of curiousity and unless they are vegetarian they will eat it.

Level 10. Deathfish -> Angelfish -> Alley Catfish -> Cheese

Level 9. Lobster -> Tuna -> Onion
Level 9. Robotfish -> Piranha -> Minnow -> Apple
Level 8. Vampirefish -> Garlic
Level 8. Angelfish -> Alley Catfish -> Cheese

Level 7. Swordfish -> Anchovy -> Tomato

Level 7. Shark -> Red Herring -> Sausage Links
Level 6. Black Goldfish -> Goldfish -> Lettuce
Level 6. Salmon -> Lime

Level 5. Blowfish -> Potato
Level 5. Tragic Clownfish -> Watermelon
Level 4. Piranha -> Minnow -> Apple
Level 4. Siamese Catfish -> Bell Pepper
Level 3. Tuna -> Onion
Level 3. Red Herring -> Sausage Links

Level 2. Jellyfish -> Grape
Level 2. Rainbow Trout -> Egg
Level 1. Alley Catfish -> Cheese

Level 1. Goldfish ->Lettuce
Level 0. Anchovy -> Tomato

Level 0. I think you have to send her back to the netherworld from her tomb stone if she is playable.

When she haunts your sim again as a non playable ghost, feed her ambrosia. If you don't make her playable in the first place (via the science lab) You may be able to bring her back but, you have to find her after she runs off. When you call her, she says she will come over and then she changes her mind. You have to ask her to meet at the library or another community lot and have her come home with your sim.

Hope this helps. She is a very cute sim.

Hmmmph..... strange because I picked up a tombstone from the graveyard and took it to the science lab and then fed the little girl ghost ambrosia and she DID come back to life, grew up and moved out.

If a sim in the game doesn't come back it makes me think that the creators of the game don't want her to be able to come back to life.... that's the only thing that makes any sense.

Curious if anyone else knows the answer to this question. Good Question!!

Lisa

(not a ghost just a sim's green age bar set back).
I think, what if she died several times ?
It seems every time they die their gravestone gets bigger -what if there is only 'nine-lives' sort of speaking.??
Also I notice ghosts "leaving" the cementary -not while I was standing in the cementary but out in the street (spying) -I followed two home -they seem to go to where they last lived see 'just a lot' every thing and everyone gone and then they vanish in green smoke (back to the cementary). What if we need to find their original address and live there for the ambrosia to work? Just an idea.

EDIT: What if when you have her controlable you have to find her gravestone and pick it up and put it in her inventory? These ones (these gravestones/remains) that the lab brings back from the dead to living-ghost -still leaves a gravestone in their inventory even after the lab then once they eat ambrosia thats when the gravestone is no longer in their inventory. If her gravestone is not in her inventory the ambrosia may not be recognizing her as being a ghost. If her stone is not at the cementary try the catacombs to manage if not there try catacombs/search if not then scout the entire neighborhood and houses. Even all Klepto Sims inventories / buymode inventories.

Does anyone know what if the vampire-fish are used for, something special?

Also the same way ambrosia is a 12k book and so the dish does something special ---well just a side-note the Angel Fruit Cake thingie the one above it (also fairly expensive) it's speciality seems to be like an everlasting candy. My sim has held it in his inventory longer than any other food and no matter how much he nibbles on it -it seems to never go away (and never rot). =D (also someone else did not make it -he did, he's a five star chef.)

Re:To Make Ambrosia

Ambrosia does NOT work on Lolita Goth. She's eaten it 7 times and goes through all the motions after she does but then nothing happens and she's still a ghost. I even had HER make it and eat it THREE times and it STILL didn't work. And yes she was playable....she's married to another live sim. If anyone has made her "human" again and can tell me how to do it, I would be very grateful! I haven't tried it on any other ghosts.

btw, all you have to do to get a death fish is go to the graveyard, fish in the pond IN the graveyard with angel fish as bait and you will catch as many as you have angel fish. You can also catch vampire fish in the same pond by using garlic as bait.

Regarding Lolita, she had her tombstone in her inventory and then she moved in with her husband and it disappeared. But I tried the ambrosia on her 3 times when it was still in her inventory. I also tried it 4 times when it wasn't and then I had HER make the ambrosia 3 times and still nothing. Ambrosia works on other ghosts (Erik Darling) but not on her!

Does anyone know what if the vampire-fish are used for, something special?

Vampire fish can be caught in the pond at the cemetary after midnight using garlic as bait. Don't know if they do anything special though. That's also where you catch the death fish using angel fish as bait. As a side note...you do NOT have to have level 10 fishing to catch them. My sim caught them with level 7 fishing

I found the Angelfish! It at the Goth's private pond!!! I just used whatever I had in my inventory as bait, some other fishies mainly and there it was!

Then I took the Angelfish to the graveyard at around 2am and after a while my sim could catch the Deadfish!! That's very nice because she was already on the half of it.

Now, I'm gonna try to get the deadfish again so she can prepare ambrosia for her husband, and they'll have plenty of time to raise their 2 twin babies!
I found the Angelfish! It at the Goth's private pond!!! I just used whatever I had in my inventory as bait, some other fishies mainly and there it was!

Then I took the Angelfish to the graveyard at around 2am and after a while my sim could catch the Deadfish!! Finally!

Now, one Deadfish and the few Life Fruits I had in my cooler were enough for only one dish, I wanted her to actually 'serve' ambrosia, but the option was not there, only to 'make' it for herself, so she ate it and now she is back to the first day of her adult life! That's very nice because she was already on the half of it.

Now, I'm gonna try to get the deadfish again so she can prepare ambrosia for her husband, and they'll have plenty of time to raise their 2 twin babies!
Alleycat is the bait to catch the AngelFish quickly.

Your Sim can make the embrosia and X it out before she eats it and then direct your other Sim to eat it. =D

If you catch 10 Deathfish (10 of any same specie fish) you can go into build mode and create a pond and stock it with them. And you can catch Deathfish anytime of day from your private pond. =)

"How would you use it to bring someone else back from the dead?"
You have to have the ghost as controllable or something, and have them eat it. I'm not sure how to make ghosts controllable, but you apparently can.
My sim died. Her husband got a call from the Science lab a couple of days later and said if he brought her urn to the science lab, they might be able to bring her back. He brought the urn (actually he brought her headstone) and when he come out of the science lab, his wife was with him. She was still a ghost, but she was back in the family and totally controllable.

She's had a ghost baby since, and now I'm on the hunt for a deathfish Thanks for the tips to make Ambrosia.

Anyone actually managed to bring a ghost back to life? Or is it a bug or something?
After I posted here last night, I finally got ahold of some death fish. My sim made Ambrosia, she ate it, she floated and colors swirled around her. Her icon said she was resurrecting. She looked at her arms and was happy .... but she is still a ghost.

Were they born ghosts? I wonder if it doesn't work for ghosts who were born ghosts? My sim wasn't however. I don't know why it worked. She had a death flower in her inventory that has vanished, so I'm wondering if that had anything to do with her botched up resurrection.

How to Make Ambrosia (Immortality)

it doesnt give sims eternal life, it extends life like the elixier of life in ts2 - but u need 10 cooking, 10 fishing and at least 7 gardening to make ambrosia. The chance of success of restoring the dead sim isnt definite, but its very good on living sims so they will never die (unless they get shocked, stared, drowned or burnt - in which case the death flower will help there, or if ur sim has the unlucky trait, the reaper may ressurect him/her on the spot cos' he thinks it funny.

Re:How to Make Ambrosia (Immortality)

About needing the ghost to be controllable, thats not true. I had my sim make some ambrosia, had him go water the omni plants (I use those to grow the ingredients) and apparently the ghost of his dad came and ate it, he came back to life and I got ****** off at him for doing that, so I did what I did best, and burned him to death.

Ok well since I can't get my sim ghosts to sucessfully return to normal with ambrosia ... does anyone have a way I can get Leigh back to the grave? I suppose I can just evict them from the family and just keep them out of the game.

Because now she's a ghost and will be in her household forever right?

Re:How to Make Ambrosia (Immortality)

I am having a different problem. (I have level 10 in fishing, cooking, farming) and I have deathfish and life fruit in both my inventory and refrigerator.

The option to prepare it used to be there under breakfast. I didn't have any deathfish at the time, so that night I went out to get some. Came back the next morning..and the option to prepare it is gone.

It still shows in my list of known recipes. I have a wish to prepare it. I have checked for three days in a row..breakfast, deserts, lunches, dinners..midnight..brunch. No luck.

Any ideas?
