Setra, my second world. I set out with the goal to create something entirely different than Neverglade, and hopefully better in every respect. I think I've reached that goal

Setra is designated as a city. This means there is different work times and no wildlife in the form of wild horses/deer/raccoons.

Most lots have standard sizes (30x30, 40x30, 60x60, etc), just like the EA neighborhoods. This should make for easy sharing and adjusting. Apart from the empty ones, all lots are built on and fully decorated. All original designs by me.

I've tried to perfect the world as much as possible, ironing out any bugs and glitches. Of course it's possible that I've missed something small, but I'm positive there's no major issues.

Setra is 'as is', meaning I will not be updating it further. If you want new EP features in the world you should be able to add them somewhere, even if it means you need to replace lots.

The first couple of days usually are a bit more laggy than the rest. I think that has to do with the game generating service NPC's and the like.

Probably not. Most likely it will crash during loading. I've used quite extensively made use of Ambitions so I don't know how gameplay will be affected without the Ambitions expansion pack..

Not a drastic difference. There's some extra decorations here and there, a new lot + changes to multiple lots, some new sims and improvements to routing. All lots now have descriptions and street addresses. All sims now also work properly and have proper jobs, skills and household descriptions. I love it!! The grungde area is the first thing that i saw! In Brigdeport was impossible for me put some of the lots that i had download from another creator <_<
The wampire lounge is like i imagined it! And the china area is cute to but i will left some apartaments coz i hate them for play( with elevators sims need 1 year for make 1 floor but it's an ea fault -.-")!
Anyway i didn't had any crash (and i'm playing in a middle pc)!

Edit: I am enjoying your world right now and I wanted to tell you that I am experiencing problems with the Mendez family, who lives across the street from the Setra Equestrian Center.
When I choose to play them from the main menu, the game will try to load them, but the loading screen dissapears and I stay in the neighbourhood. The whole menu at the bottom of the screen is gone. I see the whole neighbourhood and I can even move the camera, but that is really all I can do. I have tried this several times. I can play other families though.
I have also tried it differently by playing another family. While playing this family I went to the menu to change the city (stad bewerken) and choose to change to the Mendez family. Then it loads, but the screen goes back to my previous family. I can't play with them though. In the neighbourhood screen the icon of the house of the Mendez family is green, as if I am playing with them. I can look in the house and see all the floors and stuff, but I have the icons of the sims of my previous house in my screen. When I click those, nothing happens. I can even click them all at the same time, really weird. Anything you can do about this please?

I've investigated this a little bit, and I'm afraid (And annoyed!) that it's a problem. I do remember being able to play them fine some time back, so I'm going to try some things and report back on this.

I loved Neverglade and used it for a long time. When I saw this world I couldn't believe my eyes, and then when I saw it was made by the same person that created the other world I loved to much, I just can't wait to get it installed.

It seems this is a problem that can't be fixed. One workaround is to not play with the Mendez family, or remove their horses (They're corrupted). Removing them is possible with 'testingcheatsenabled true' and they shift-clicking on the horse + object>delete.

Are you positive they're stuck? I've been playing around with this a while and only noticed 'stationary sims found' messages. These seem to happen for no reason, and most sims were pets who were just in their house.

That's a shame, but somewhat understandable as large words do require more resources. Do you use Twallan's mods too? His Overwatch is basically a must these days. Especially in Setra.

The first few days are definitely more laggy than usual becuse of the reason you just mentioned. Still, without Overwatch (as in the above post) you'll probably get more lag later on.

That is weird and the first time I've heard of this. I really wouldn't know what could cause this if it was due to Setra. Also considering you're the first to report this I'm led to assume that it's not because of Setra.

My problem is that whenever I download a new world from the exchange, I am only able to use it for a short amount time, like 10 mins, then the game will freeze and the game will crash. It is soooo frustrated.I play the sims 3 in the IMAC 27inch and it crashes so frequently when I use custom content.

I really want to play in the world you create for a longer time, the lagging is not a big problem for me and I really like it.

Yep Tia Clover and her granddaughter got stuck in the apartment they live in (the black unroutable section)...The Hanson guy, got stuck in his apartment also, overwatch said there names and that they were unroutable so I switched to them using MC, and found they were stuck in those areas. I did a reset on Hanson and he was transferred to the front of the apartment building, but with Tia and her granddaughter I had to completely delete them and make them again and add them back to the family using MC. All is well in my game now.

No I don't use any mods for the sims 3. I've always been kind of iffy about them. Maybe I'll check it out if it'll improve the lag for your world

Some community lots have hidden room/level skip markers on them. If you want to edit them use these cheats:

First type in (Without the quotations): 'testingcheatsenabled true'

Then type: 'restrictbuildbuyinbuildings off'

I just tested this for myself and the Wanton household loaded just fine for me.. Have you tried it more than once? If so, does it happen every time? In that case I really wouldn't know what could cause it. Your computer specs seem to be fine too.

Well, Setra does really require a LOT from your computer. See the bottom of this reply for more info.

Odd, especially because I've just tested this with that family (And others) and don't have that problem. The relationship panel shows their family just fine. Only thing I've noticed is that the Sim portraits can be empty while the sims are loading.

Are you using any mods that might cause this?


And just for everyone experiencing weird issues which could be related to performance:

----You [b][u]HAVE[/u][/b] to have LAA enabled: [url=http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Sims_3:Large_Address_Aware]LAA[/url]

This only applies for computers which use more than 2GB of RAM (You shouldn't be playing this world if you don't have that anyway).

----Another thing you might try is disabling DEP for the sims 3 and each expansion pack: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help: Data_Execution_Prevention [b](Remove the space between : and Data -- I couldn't paste the link without it turning into a smiley)[/b]

----Last, but not least: does your computer meet the requirements? This world is huge, and the Sims has been increasing its demands with every expansion pack.

-4GB of RAM is probably the minimum you need to play this world. Without that, textures may load slow and thus slow your game down. It's also possible you'll have issues saving the game due to a shortage of memory.

-Another important factor is your processor. I use an Intel Core2 Quad Processor Q6600, which runs at 2.4 GHz. It's a pretty old processor and I notice it slows my game down. In fact, Setra doesn't run smoothly for me either (But I experience no crashing).

If your processor has specifications much lower than that one, I would considering if it's making Setra unplayable for you.

-Your video card is less important, I reckon. You can always adjust your game settings to compensate. On that note: play around with the high detail lot setting. Setra's lots are quite detailed, which means lots of things to load. I have noticed one thing which may account for some lag issues that people have mentioned....it seems that there is always quite a bottleneck at the school each morning (about 15 Sims standing in line to get in), and I have had some students not get inside until nearly noon.

I had this happen in the Setra beta. I moved someone into the middle white building not far from the outdoor dance club not far from the harbor, across the street from one of the swankier bars. I ran into a problem where I had to do a resetsim cheat and when I did, she ended up on the ground floor of the apartment building behind the mailboxes in the black section of the ground floor. She could not routed to any other locations. I had to move her out and move her back in in order to get her out of the darkness.

Overwatch probably did a resetsim automatically and that caused the OP's issue. I have all the EPs and most of the SPs, so I didn't have any problem downloading Setra. I have had a little lag now and then, but as I had been having so many problems with Bridgeport, which had been my favorite world, I really can't complain. I am enjoying exploring Setra. It is amazing and has so much to offer!

I only play for about an hour at a time, save the game, always using 'save as' with a new name, exit out, delete the cache and travel db... I have many of Nraas extras, which has helped my game performance, and general enjoyment of the game so much. I am hoping I don't end up running into the same problem I had with Bridgeport, that after a while the town gets too full (or something) and then I start getting Error 12 all the time, and the town ends up becoming unplayable.

I used Nraas Traveler to move (change hometown) one of my families to Setra. This is a great mod, because they keep all of their relations and family ties, and they can always travel back to their former hometown (Bridgeport) and visit (I think) or invite for a visit, or call for chat...

My question is this: why are the cache(s) size so much smaller than when I was playing Bridgeport (or the other EA created worlds)? I do have one issue though. I know, in a world this size, there's bound to be some lag, but for me it seems to ONLY be happening in Setra. I'm able to play other large worlds with large populations (St. Claire, Los Aniegos, Neverglade) just fine. I tried to ignore it for a while, but it's lagging every few sim-minutes for a few seconds, and it's getting very annoying.

I've been seeing a lot of people who are experiencing crashing issues when trying to load the world. Remember: you need ALL expansion packs up to and including Pets for the world to work properly.

I placed the Lucky Palms festival lot...Don't remember the specific spot. It seems to fit the surroundings pretty well.

Has anyone else noticed that the bridge that leads to the Vampire Lounge (the pyramid) has a spot where sims get stuck? It's right at the end, where the bridge meets the island. At first it looked like one of the partial files is corrupt, but you just have to rename a bunch of them to the file name it's looking for when it unzips. In other words, some of the files are not named correctly, thus resulting in it not unzipping the files properly until you rename them to the proper file names.
