Where in the rule books does it say that to be beautiful, a woman has to be thin? Modern society has placed thin women on a pedestal, for those of us who are even a tiny bit flabby to be jealous of, to try to force ourselves thin over.

This competition is all about accepting beauty for what it is. Big or small, we're all beautiful. But for this competition we'll be focusing on the big side. I want to see your larger waisted men and women flaunting what they have.

Don't hide under hideous sweaters and baggy pants, ladies! Show a little skin, be proud of what you have!

I'll be taking 20 entrants at the beginning, then we will cut that down to fifteen after we have all entries. The [b]daily life[/b] picture asked for in your application will count as an entry assignment.

[i]♥ Be polite! Seriously guys, this community is like a big family, we don't bicker in this family or we get a time out. [or penalty in the round. your choice]
♥ Try to get your entries in on time! [if you don't think you can, just let me know and I can give you an extension]
♥ Editing is allowed, but please don't overdo it. I would like the pictures to still be noticeable for what they were. I don't do much editing myself, so I wouldn't be able to tell how much work you put into it anyways.
♥ Please add a black border around your pictures. It makes them look nice.
♥ Your sim is your sim so they can have whatever skintone and look however you want.
♥ No custom poses. This isn't a comp where your sim will be standing around for cameras on a catwalk after all :p We're telling a story with our sims :3
♥ You CAN use the moviemaker cheat, just not the pose box. Nellie might be a bit on the heavy side, but she says it is because of her big heart. She'll help any one out however she can and often brings home strays, finding them good homes. Some may call her a bit of an odd ball, draping herself int the latest Japanese and anime related fashions, but Nellie takes that as a compliment rather then an insult.

She has one cat, Mr. Socks, whom has been with her since moving out on her own. She works at a book store. I never been able to find love but that has never stopped me enjoying it. A little background on your sim: Jemima lives for her job. Even when the children go home for the day Jemima sits up trying to think of new ways to enrich their lives, she loves every aspect and can't wait for all 'her babies' to arrive every morning. The only problem is she has to give them back each night to their actual parents.
Jemima has never worried about her weight, in fact she's rather slim compared to some members of her family.
What Jemima really longs for is a baby of her own, one she won't have to give back at the end of the day.

[i]Technical stuff[/i]

Using the TAB button will get you into camera mode. From there you can use the A, S, D, Q, W, E, Z and X keys to zoom in, out, up, down, and tilt the camera. For some of these you'll need to press the shift key at the same time. This will allow you more control and to get in close or really get the picture you are aiming for. Play around with the camera, soon it will become second nature to you.

In photography there is something call the "Rule of Thirds", In simplest terms, imagine a tic-tac-toe board over your photo like so:

Generally you want your focus (usually your model's face/eyes) to be along one of these lines and/or at the intersection of them. This is naturally pleasing to the eyes usually and usually prevents you from having a lot of "dead space" on one side. This is not required! I'm just offering suggestions that I've found successful (both in real life photography and simtography)

When editing - if you chose to - a little editing goes a long way! A tiny bit of adjustment to the lighting, a little bit of color pop and a border is usually more than enough. That being said - editing is NOT required.

Cheats: hideheadlineeffects on (this will get rid of speech bubbles, plumbobs, skill bars); moveobjects on (this will allow you to move sims, and objects around at your will); moviemakercheatsenabled true (this allows you to set sims in a looping animation, stop them from looking at things, etc). For some cheats to be used, you'll need to enter testingcheatsenabled true first.

When uploading your picture, I would suggest avoiding TinyPic. After about a day, the quality of the upload is degraded and the picture will become pixelated.

[i]Staging[/i]

Your model should always be the focus of your picture for a competition like this (unless otherwise stated in an assignment).

Lighting is one of the most difficult and most common problems I see in pictures. Overhead lights tend to leave harsh shadows so try putting table lamps on the ground out of sight from the camera. Play around with this a lot until you find the ones that work for you!

Setting the scene with a suitable background is as important as dressing your model. If your model is in a park for something - make a park in the background. If your model is in a crowd scene - make some extras to be around her. You don't have to go overboard but think of the background as helping you tell the story!

On the note of extras, unless there is a reason for them to be standing stock still - they should be doing something appropriate to the scene. I know this is tricky - sims will do what sims do but if there's some random guy with bladder issues in the background peeing himself - it takes away from the overall picture. Get rid of him or wait for him to be done and cleaned up to take your picture!

Details, details, details - Rob is right that I can be somewhat OCD, I don't expect everyone to be that way! BUT I'd just say pay attention to the little things in your shot (like that random townie peeing himself in the background lol)!

Some pointers for the future assignments:

This is a modelling competition, so the most important aspect of your photo should be your sim. Ways to do so:

1. Your subject should always be the focus of your picture. No matter what she/he does, and how intricate you want certain background to be, she/he should always take up most of the space. Not crazy zoom-in, but say, 60% your sim 40% background. Regardless, make use of the space!

2. Make your sim stand out from the background. Whether it is through a wacky pose that no one else is doing or better, in her outfit. The colors she is wearing should contrast with the background. Say, if the background is brown, make her wear white. If the background is black, any bright colored outfit.

3. To add on to the second point, don't let another object/person take the focus away from your sim. Say, if you are showing yourself gardening, don't plop a really colorful object somewhere in the background (like a pink elephant). This also means that since your sim is the focus, he/she should only be the striking one out of the picture. Having the picture too busy with details and other contrasting objects would confuse the viewer.

4. Also since this is a model competition, your sim's face is important. Yes, looking to the side and such, is artistic, but we want to see her face! so if you really have to have your sim turn to a side, at least show 3/4 of her face. A slight turn.

5. In dark areas, especially indoors, it would help to put some light source (a lamp) around the subject using moveobjects on cheat. Of course you won't be including these light sources so they have to be strategically placed in such a way that it brightens up the place but not overposing it or appearing in the camera shot. This is a manual way of doing so and I personally prefer this as to brightening a dark picture through PS because PS tends to over expose the details or lose it altogether.

That is all I can think of at this point.
I hope I explained them clearly and helps your sim photography in some way.

First off, congratulations to all that have made to the second round. Everyone put alot of effort in their entries. I am very proud of all of you! Also to those that didn't make it to the second round, do not be disheartened! Phototaking and being able to capture the exact moment that portrays your story takes ALOT of practice. Regardless, all of you did amazing

Secondly, (I'm sure the other judges do this too) this is the process of which how I grade the pictures. I copy everyone's submissions (just the pictures) into a word file, and grade them, a picture at a time without looking at who submitted them and so on. So that there is no bias, or expectations with regards to who submitted it. And then tally them with the other judges. We try to be as fair as we can while doing so. Also, we want this to be a friendly competition to learn from one another and simply to have fun!

And lastly, the next assignment will be up soon! It is actually already ready, just needs to be posted, so just.. I don't know, brace yourself

There had been a time, once when she was only about twelve or so, when Nels had first found herself in a bookstore. (And her cat.)

Some older kids had laugh at her because of her odd style of dress and how 'chubby' she was during the last recess before going home. Back then those words stung like bee stings, and Nellie ran away crying that day having more then enough of their teasing.

Instead of heading home, Nels walked and she walked until she was plum out of breath and her legs refused to move another step. Nellie looked up finding herself in front of a store of some sort. Looking in, it looked so inviting. The books - how she loved to read - called out for her Especially the chairs laying out next to the bookcases.

She entered the shop, and headed towards shelf and selecting a book about cats. She then headed over to a chair. But before she could sit, someone cleared their throat and Nels turned slowly finding herself face to face with an older woman.

"Aren't you a bit young to be in a bookstore by yourself?" The woman asked young Nellie. The older womans words were not spiteful, but of filled with curious concern.

"I just stopped by before I headed home." Nels said quickly, acting as adult as she could.

The older woman smiled, "I see. You know you have to pay for those books if you want to bring them home to keep."

Nels glanced at the book in her hand. She sounded disappointed as she said, "Oh."

"So you like cats, do you?" The woman asked before adding, "I have a cat myself. It's going to have kittens soon."

"Really?" Nellie asked her eyes lighting up.

"Yes," The woman said nodding. She then grinned and snapped her fingers, "I have an idea. I'll let you take the book you are holding if you help me take care of the kittens when they are born. They'll need lots of love."

"REALLY!? I CAN!"

"Sure, but you have to ask your parents for permission to come after school." The woman said. "You'll be a great help."

And from that day, Nellie Sev found herself in that bookstore even years later. She helped Mrs. Quinn with everything and became friends. And Mrs. Quinn even gave Nels her cat, Mr. Socks.

I remember the day my Dad took me to see my first rodeo at the Equestrian Center. The show didn’t impress me, but my Dad became my hero that day. That conversation will be with me always. It has become my credo!

“Dad, why do other kids hate me? Why do they make fun of me?”

“Hmm, I may be the last person you want to ask, Trey!” Dad said, with a crack in his voice I’d never heard before. “You see, I was one of those kids who made fun of others when I was growing up; kids like you, I'm afraid. I was young and ignorant. I know it’s no excuse, but that’s just how some kids are. They’re either blinded by prejudices that they learn from their parents, or they harbor a deep-seated anger, such as was the case with me. They bully others who look different; whether they wear glasses, braces on their teeth, are restricted to a wheel chair, or a different size, like you.”

“You don’t make fun of me!”

“That’s because I love you! I know who you are on the inside. All I see is a beautiful person.”

“That’s it? You love me so you don’t make fun of me?”

“Yes, it’s that simple, to my way of thinking. You see, when I was growing up, your grandpa Don was never there for us; your Uncle Dante and me. Our mother died in a drowning accident when we were children, so we had to raise ourselves. My father wasn't there even before my mother died. It got worse after she died. I was angry; angry that he was never there for me when I needed him. As a result, I guess, I just started lashing out at others, even my brother.”

“But you and Uncle Dante get along; I don’t hear you picking on him when he comes over. You’re not angry anymore?”

“That anger will always be with me. I realize now, your grandpa did what he thought was best for us. It doesn’t make me any less angry at him, though. I think he never truly found love. I secretly hoped and wished for someone to love me as your grandmother did. Until I met your mother, I never really loved anyone who openly loved me back. When I saw her, something changed inside me. I didn’t become a saint or anything so drastic; I still like to pull the occasional practical joke, but I’ve learned to respect people for who they are on the inside and not ridicule them on their outward appearance. Everyone is unique; everyone is a Unicorn.”

“So I shouldn’t be ashamed of how I look? Like the other kids say I should?”

“Never! Be yourself; always be you. If you love yourself; who you are; you can overcome anything. I’m afraid there will always be those who ridicule. Don’t let them get you down. You will eventually find someone who loves you back for who you are and not how you look. Just know that your mother and I will always love you. We’ll be here for you when you need us most.”

Dana trudged along the pavement, searching for a place to rest her weary feet. She spotted a bench close by and collapsed on it, breathing a sigh of relief.

Her mother had encouraged her to do more exercise, but the distance from school to her house seemed a bit too far for Dana’s liking. She had recently been offered to bake cookies for the bake sale next week, satisfied that the walk had caused irreparable damage to her feet, Dana stopped by the grocery store on her way home to buy the ingredients.

With the ingredients safely tucked away in her backpack, she began her journey back home. That is, until she heard a faint meowing sound emanating from a nearby alleyway. Although she was eager to reach home and start baking, her curiosity overcame her and she carefully tiptoed towards the alleyway.

[i]That’s funny, I don’t see anything...[/i] Dana cast her eyes over the alleyway, [i]All I can see is a bunch of dumpsters...[/i]

Suddenly a small creature emerged from beneath the dumpster, its sullen face hung low and its whole body seemed to sag with exhaustion.

Dana had always been a lover of animals, however, her mother had forbid her from ever having one. Excited, Dana picked up the cat and a great grin broke across her face. Its fur was soft, thick and the most beautiful shade of grey that Dana had ever seen. In Dana’s arms, the cat immediately relaxed. It seemed as though the bond they shared was meant to be.

[i]After that day, Dana worked hard to convince her mother to adopt the abandoned cat, her mother finally succumbed to Dana's pleas. [i]It took months of research and work and singing to get to this point to finally be able to have something real to try, something to make my best friend a part of my world. It had taken months of constant teasing from the other children at school about how weird I was, even mum said it was time for me to give up my 'childish fantasies' and find something to help me fit in. Like my brother who played rugby or my big sister who was head of the school newspaper. But I'd kept going, knowing that I just had to, knowing that I'd never ever find another friend who would be as nice to me as Philip. He was my best friend, the very best bit of my life. He never teased me or laughed at me.
I looked at the bright golden liquid I had made, watched as it bubbled away inside the bottle, it seemed almost as excited about this as I did. And why wouldn't it be excited, it was magic and magic is always exciting.
I looked around me, checking that everything was done, everything was ready for the next step. The rest of my toys surrounded us on the carpet as I nervously straighted my dress, hoping my hair was still pretty, and I carefully unstoppered the bottle pouring it's contents into one of mums best china mugs. She would kill me if she found out I'd used her good mug but I wanted everything to be perfect today.
I did my last minute check of the room, even though he'd seen it messy today I wanted everything to be as tidy as possible.
Everything was ready, today I was going to make my dreams come true.
"OK Philip," I called towards my doll, "Come out,." My eyes flickered back to the potion, "Anyway I have something to tell you."
I explained and watched as my friend picked the cup up, never hesitating, trusting me completely.

"May-may," Momma called just as I finished doing stupid math homework, "Could you come here for a second?"

"Yep, Momma?" I walked to the kitchen, the delightful aroma of chocolate cake floating in the air.

"Baby, I have a surprise for you outside," She walked through the back doors and beckoned me to follow her down the stairs and along the stone pathway to the front yard.

I trailed behind, watching her unlock the gate of the tall fence. She walked through, and when she moved to the side, I caught sight of my surprise.

A puppy, black and white with pointy ears. The puppy's eyes were sparkling with curiosity and as bright as the sea. I ran to it.
"D'awwww! You're the prettiest little puppy I've ever seen!" She leaned forward and looked up, as though she was waiting for me to pet her.

"Now, you understand that this puppy is a lot of responsibility for you, right, May?" Momma asked from behind me, "You're going to have to walk her, feed her, make sure She's got fresh water and plenty of love and attention."

"I know, Momma!" I spun around and hugged her tightly, before turning back to my puppy girl and picking her up, "I think I'm gonna call you Angel."

I hated our house when I was growing up. Ok that's not true I loved our house but I hated that it was at the top of the steepest hill in Sunset Valley. I never road the bus to school preferring the few moments of quiet I got on my bike but that hill....it killed me. Every time I would try to get up it my legs would turn to jelly and my lungs would burst for air. I never could make it to the top without getting off and walking the rest of the way. Kids going by on the bus would point and laugh and I tried not to hear what they yelled out the windows as they rode past but the words stuck. I was embarrassed and ashamed but it seemed that every day I had to get off just that little bit sooner. It wasn't long before I would just stop at the bottom of the hill, resigned to my fate, and trudge the rest of the way home. That was when my grandpa found me.

"Something wrong with the bike sweetie?"

"No." I muttered unable to meet his eye.

"Then why are you walking it?" The genuine puzzlement on his face made me feel even worse.

Slowly and in the softest voice I could manage I said, "Because I can't get up the hill."

"What what that love? Your grandpa's getting quite deaf these days." I glanced up and the mischievous light in his eyes told me that he knew very well I had muttered my answer on purpose.

"I can't ok!" I shot back at him knowing my voice was taking on a whining pitch. "I can't get up the hill."

He studied me for a moment. "Who says you can't?"

"Everyone! All the kids at school tease me about and they all know I can't. It's too hard."

"All the kids at school huh?" he mused. "Well let me tell you a secret."

Great, I thought, grandpa wisdom.

[i]As a little girl, I'd always been superbly aware of the fact that I was a tad bit more... pudgy then the other girls in my grade. At the age of 8, I wanted nothing more then to fit in, and I was not willing to do anything that would bring attention to the fact that I didn't.
Oddly enough, I was never really accepted into the group of girls, even though my mother made the best chocolate chip cookies. Nope, my best friend grew to be Jeremy, a tiny kid who was known for his dirt eating talent. He was pretty nice, though, and he always let me use his math homework.
The bad thing, though, was that he was a fan of dress up. And that never ended prettily.
"Come on, Stella. Dress up is fun! It's just like house, but we get to be princes and princesses!"
"No," I pouted. "I don't want to play."
"Cooooomeeee onnnnn," he whined. He raised his eyebrow playfully, waving a wand around, "Don't make me put a spell on you!"

He cringed away, "Why not?"

I ran through my check list a million times, a trillion times. Okay, okay that's an exageration, but it sure felt like it. My 21st. I'd booked the local karaoke club, a private booking seeing as I'd received about 40 RSVP's back. Tonight promised to be the most exciting night of my life!!! I spent a ridiculously large amount on a pretty new dress, and had even been to the local beauty salon to have my hair and make-up done. I was feeling special, beautiful. I didn't get to feel that way very often so having one night where I got to be the centre of attention.. It felt good. I helped the caterer set up, looking at all the pretty, delicate party food and the big pink cake. And I waited for my guests to arrive.

The problem was that no matter how long I waited no one showed up.

“Mum! Can I come down yet?”

I nervously stared down at the beautiful red satin that made up my dress, I made the right decision. Satisfied with my hair and make-up, I ran down the stairs. I couldn’t wait any longer. My 20th birthday had been greatly anticipated because this was the day that my parents would allow me to open my very own restaurant.

I straightened my dress and breathed deeply before proceeding to open the door. I didn’t expect to see what lay before me.

Brilliant, jewel coloured balloons hung from the ceiling and a table lay with dainty cupcakes and party hats. However, I smelt something burning and my eyes immediately went to the oven in which my mother had baked the cupcakes. My eyes widened as I noticed a flame sparking. Although this seemed trivial, my mother had a pathological fear of fires. She stared as the flames licked the edge of the oven, the counters and eventually the table that held the cupcakes.

I could only watch in horror.

"Wha-!?" I exclaimed, spinning around so fast from just moments before setting up my new radio, that I had gotten as a gift, before my birthday party. Now instead of a happy expression, my face was filled with confusion and hurt. "What do you mean break up?"

During a visit to the big city a few years back, I ran into Carolina Dakota Amaryllis Dallas! Only it wasn’t Carolina Dakota Amaryllis Dallas anymore.

“My name’s Charity Ball now!” she whispered; then pleading, “Please forget the other name.”

I wanted to laugh, but, you know, everyone’s a Unicorn, so who was I to quash it? I knew Carolina…er…Charity when she was just a little filly back home. We dated once! It was a mutual decision that we not repeat the disaster. As soon as she finished high school, she moved away. She always talked about being a movie star, but I knew she didn’t have the ambition to stick with it; or anything else for that matter. Personally, I think she was just looking for a free ride.

Anyway, we started talking about the good old days and she invited me to a karaoke bar, saying it would be fun. Against my better judgment, I agreed to go. Besides, it was my birthday and I could use a night of fun.

She led me around to a few shops to pick out some [suitable] clothes to wear. Like my cowboy outfit wasn’t good enough for the city. After buying clothes, she took me to a salon where they removed my hat and fluffed my hair. They placed my hat in a bag and told me not to wear it until “the ‘do falls.”

We arrived at the bar early on, before the big crowd came in. We found a table and ordered drinks. After the second cocktail, I let her coax me in to getting up behind that teleprompter and singing some karaoke! I told her I couldn’t sing a lick. She said that I could just mouth the words along with her. Well, no sooner had we started the song, when she introduced to the club that it was my birthday and started urging them to get me to sing, all the while backing off the stage.

I’m sure the red in my cheeks bled into the pink of my shirt. I felt like my horn had just fallen off, I was so angry with her. The boos and heckling were unnerving. Despite my embarrassment, I finished the song, and then quietly left the bar.

Looking back, I realize that that incident only served to define who I am now; mold my Unicorn! Sure hurt at the time, though! Call this a birthday? More like a nightmare if I say so myself..

I've always had small parties, because if I invited more people then the cost of my party would be rather expensive. In the meantime, I woke up in the morning bright and early.
New dress
New haircut
New age, older age!!

I looked out my bedroom window to see a few people near the park, which was where I wanted my party to be held. Minutes later, I walked towards my destination where every sung "Happy Birthday" to me, I knew this was going to be a good day as my friend Jennie[In the pink and green dress]and sorted out everything. Thinking back on it, it all went wrong when I suggested we have a pool party for our birthday. Corey agreed straight away. It was just the usual crew. Me, him, Emma, Jasmine, and Alan.

I never should have suggested such a thing. Even with only two other girls there, I felt horrible. They were wearing the skimpiest bikinis I had ever seen, and they looked amazing. Of course I had to cover up. Of course it made me feel bad that I was jealous of my own sister and my best friend…

Alan had jumped out, to go dry off. I’d been standing by the pool, too scared to actually jump in. I still don’t know whether it was on purpose, or by accident, but before I knew it, I’d fallen into the pool. Water filled my lungs as I screamed in fright.

I struggled against the water, even as I fell further down. No! I had to get out. I was panicking hard. My vision faded, until I blacked out, even as Emma somehow dragged me out of the pool.

When I came to, I was in hospital. The doctors told me I had been dead when they had found me. It was only thanks to Emma’s persistence that I’d survived. I wouldn’t be alive without my amazing sister.[/i]

It had been raining all day. A steady drizzle that put a dreary mood on everything. I, however, refused to be brought down. It was my very first costume party and I had spent ages getting the house and my costume ready. The guests arrived and I couldn't have been more thrilled, everyone had really got into the spirit and we were having a fantastic time. That is until the roof, which had been creaking ominously for hours, decided to spring a leak dousing me in flood of very chilly rain water. After the initial shock everyone pitched in with buckets and mops and I can say with some confidence that it was certainly a party to remember.

I was born on a leap year, so my close friends always felt the need to go that extra mile. [i] Every Friday, I would take time out of my day to visit the childrens’ hospital. Whether it was to talk to some of the kids there or to have a puppet show or something, I always anticipated the cheery cries of “Mr. Shawn!” when I stepped into the room. So when a charity was opened and the funds were donated to the childrens’ hospital, well, I couldn’t resist. I went over and sang for them. The charity raised a lot of money when people volunteered to do stuff. It just made me happy. [/i]

Originally, the makeovers had just been something for my friends. When their self esteem was at an all-time low, I would give them a new look to make them feel better on the outside. If they had a brand new look, it would give them a confidence boost.

When word got out, various people came to me for these makeovers and it became a real hobby for me. I had seen a wide variety of people including cancer sufferers who missed the feeling of having gorgeous locks framing their face and burn victims who wanted to return their skin to how it was before.

My most memorable experience was when a woman much like myself came to me saying that she was always teased as a child for being slightly larger than others. I agreed to the makeover and rather than telling her to go on a diet or anything else drastic, I merely gave her my favourite dress to try on. The look on her face was astounding,

“I never knew I could have looked like this...” she said.

“Don’t you see? It doesn’t matter how fat or thin you are because I believe that every woman is beautiful...” I replied.

After that day her confidence had greatly increased. She still writes me letters to this day and is currently engaged.

After that incident I bought a whole new makeup set, clothes and beauty products and started my very own charity in my bedroom to help anyone with low confidence and self-esteem.

Nellie loved animals, especially cats. So whenever the local pound began running low on space, she'd pick up at least a half a dozen of the pack and help find them new homes. Each year I volunteer my time to man a booth outside of the bookstore to raise money for Camp Unicorn! We sell toy unicorns of any color imaginable, and I just love to see the faces of the children when they get their very own.

Of course, many of the parents can’t even afford the Unicorn, so I either cut the price or just give it to them and pay for them from my own pocket.

Why; because everyone, no matter their age, deserves a chance to attend the camp to find their inner Unicorn. It’s not like the money means anything to me, anyway!

Milana loves dressing up as her character "Gretna The Green Giant" , she comes around to a pre-school for children with learning difficulties and puts on a great peformance every time. Saturday night, date night for most people dominoes night for me. I spend my weekends volunteering at a care home for the elderly. Many are lonely and, to be perfectly honest, the home itself is not the most exciting of places. So every Saturday I arrange a dominoes tournament at a different place around town. I was enjoying a nice pink drink in my favorite watering hole in Dry Gulch, humming along with the juke box. The current selection was blaring out my favorite Country tune, [i][b]I Got You[/b] by Thompson Square[/i]. As I sipped on my pink passion (or whatever it was), a cute little number in a slinky vest and chaps sat down next to me and struck up a conversation!

“I saw you riding yesterday. You’re pretty darned good; sit tall in the saddle.”

“Thank you. Do I know you?”

“Oh, I’m so sorry; the name’s Karl Yesterday with Rodeo Films. Let me be blunt. We just so happen to be remaking the video for that little ditty you’re humming and we need a seasoned rider. Would you like to be that rider?”

Wow, just wow! How could I turn down a chance to appear in a music video for my favorite song? “I don’t have to sing, do I; because, I can’t?”

“Nope, no singing; just give us your beautiful riding skills.”

“I’m in, then!” I squealed. I’m sure I spit some of my drink on him, but he seemed to neither notice nor care.

We began shooting in the hills over Dry Gulch that same day. Can you imagine my delight, no euphoria when they showed me this beautiful pink Unicorn steed? I melted in place.

Life couldn’t get better than this! I’ve found my Unicorn! We traveled as one; in time to the music; in time with each other; sensing each other’s moves and responding accordingly! I couldn’t help but sing the words along with the recording:

Milana was so excited to win the role of the next Miss Marple, she could imagine acting out who killed who and what happened next. Milana obviously couldn't go it alone, she had 3 assistants to help her:

I first started watching Bridgeport’s Next Top Plus-Size Model when my friend was a contestant. She did so well that she won the first ever cycle!

This was the influence that enabled me to be a guest judge on the show. My friend explained the work I do with my charity and asked for a place on the judging panel on my behalf and the producers said ‘yes’.

I arrived at the studio, only to find out that the head judge, Byra Tanks, could not make it and that I would have to step in! After a hasty hair and make-up session, I was promptly pushed onto the set. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, I loved seeing the talent there and critiquing the photographs in order for the models to improve and to grow.

According to the producers, that episode was the most unusual they had ever seen: after I eliminated a contestant, the remaining contestants broke down into tears. I was at a loss for words and quickly pulled the eliminated contestant in for an awkward hug. I can safely say that the other judges were amused that day…

After the disaster that was the first movie the studio decided to bring a different spin to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Being cast as Kitara was beyond a dream and I was determined to be the best water bender I could be. It was intense, long hours with grueling action sequences but I wasn't going to let a little thing like being completely out of shape stop me. Call me crazy, but I believe that a baby's cry is one of the most amazing sounds in the world. Why? Because it is a sign of life. 1 out of 10 babies are born prematurely and crying signifies their fighting spirit.

Having had lost a sibling due to premature birth, I knew from a young age what my purpose in life was; it was to help similar babies in their fight for survival.

Seeing the joy and relief on the anxious parents' faces when they realize that their baby is stable to go home in a few days makes the four rigorous years of my nursing degree worthwhile.

I am still in shock, having been given my very own Unicorn from that music video gig. I mean – WOW - can you imagine? My heart’s still all aflutter over it.

But you know, with the Unicorn came responsibility. It needs attention and special care, just as all of God’s creatures! After thinking long and hard; seeking advice from family and friends; I found the perfect place for both of us.

You know how my goal was to find my unicorn? Well, I found “a” Unicorn; as a prize from that gig; but that just somehow wasn’t enough. I can’t explain it, really, but I still felt unfulfilled. Well, it didn’t last long, as I found the perfect place for me and my Unicorn.

I’m now counseling (if you can call it counseling) at a ranch for troubled teens. It’s called Unicorn Ranch where we help these young folk find their place; and their dream; in our troubled society. The current crew includes two children; the first to ever visit the ranch, I’m told. I have the pleasure of introducing all of these young folk to the ranch’s Unicorns! That’s right Unicorns, as in more than one.

The current corral includes six of these wondrous creatures; six adults and two foals, which I help care for with my newfound friend, Marcel Blank (that’s him leading Grey Storm and Pink Dream, my Unicorn, named for my favorite color, and his, and because he was my dream).

Since the tender age of seven, my dream job has always been head chef at my very own restaurant. When I received the gift of my restaurant fourteen years later, I worked tirelessly to bring in customers, staff and prestige. I hadn’t expected to receive three Michelin stars for my dishes and subsequently, the customers flooded in.

As for staff, I took in unemployed teenagers and trained them individually in the culinary arts, eventually; I earned enough money to renovate the restaurant kitchen with bright and cheerful colours. The previously industrial stainless-steel kitchen had been replaced with a lively workplace.

I am a fair boss, I help all my employees, pay them generously and ensure that their needs are well looked after. In return, all the employees look up to me and respect my authority. Wherever I go, they follow. Whatever I order, they do.

My restaurant is not just a restaurant; it is a sanctuary for the staff, the customers, and myself.

That is something I had never dreamed of.

Some people might think of wedding planning as a job, me I think of it as a career with each customer as a job. So what was my dream job? Well how could being hired by one of the more embarrassingly wealthy and famous families in Europe not be a dream?!? Months of planning, and many sleepless nights, went into making sure it was a day to remember for the family and the nation. After all the vows were said and the church was empty I snuck back in for a moment of peace to admire my work. Imagine my surprise to find that I was not alone. As the young prince bowed before me and complemented me on the day my stomach flew into my throat and I was so nervous I moved to bite my nails before realizing that I still wore my gloves. As cheezy at it sounds, my dream date would involve my date serenading me at some point! And I sort of got that...not that Aaron has a very good voice, I had to help him along there. But it's the thought that counts right?

Not having very much experience with the fairer sex, I really had no idea what a dream date would be like! I had my ideas, but not catching the eye of too many fillies left the dreams just that - dreams.

Until Maria came along, that is. Maria and I hit it off right from the start. We went out a few times, but I really wouldn’t’ call them dates. I felt a special twang in my heart when she was near. Her eyes sparkled like jewels and sucked me in. After about two weeks of seeing each other casually, I finally worked up the nerve to ask her on a proper date.

“Of course; I’d love to,” was the emphatic reply.

I nearly fainted while she was still on the phone. We hastily made plans as I mentally went down my short checklist: dinner at the swank new club, then take in a movie, and finally watch the sun go down at the beach. Dinner was delightful; the movie fun; and we dance a lick before we settled in to have a drink and watch the sun go down.

We found a nice table at the outdoor Cabana Club at the beach and I went to the bar and ordered drinks. As I was returning, I noticed a man at the table with Maria. I approached the table and then I saw it - that look in her eyes – the same look I had when I found my Unicorn. I placed the tray on a nearby table and left her with her Unicorn!

There was no malice or loathing – only happiness that she was able to find her Unicorn.

Perhaps one day I will find that one special someone to settle down with and start a family. And if I don’t, so be it! I have found my happily ever after – I’ve found my Unicorn.

I first met Brad while planning his brother's wedding. We were in this little chapel out of town and when he walked through the door, framed in the bright sun light from outside, it took my breath away. He is the kind of guy who makes girls go weak in the knees when he looks at them and when he smiles....forget about it. He was with this girl, this impossibly beautiful girl. She was so elegant and so graceful. And skinny. Of course she would be skinny. I watched as they wandered around the small space wishing desperately that I could be someone like her, someone who could attract a guy like that. Imagine my surprise when he slipped up to me as they were leaving and quietly asked me if I would meet him at the beach the next day.

The beach. Not my favourite place in the world. All those tanned people showing off their beach perfect bodies. How could I ever hold Brad's attention here? That was all I ever really wanted in a date. Someone who would pay attention to me, fully, to not be able to take their eyes off me. I was sure the date was doomed when I saw the same girl, Shayla, from the day before bounce her way up the sand to the grassy edge where we stood. She talked with us for ages. Flirted might have been a better description. She kept shooting these glances at Brad and playfully biting her lower lip. I was astonished! How could she be so brazen? But Brad, he never even noticed. I swear the entire time she was there he was looking at me every once and a while running his finger down my arm.
"I'm going to get in the water. Are you coming?" She held out her hand expectantly.
"No," Brad mummered near my ear.
"I'm good." I squeaked with shiver rolling down my spine.
As she walked away, clearly dejected, I looked after her. "Are you sure you wouldn't rather go with her?" I asked still not quite believing he would choose to stay with me over her.
"Why would I want to do that? She'll find someone to play with and I'd much rather play with you," he said taking my head in his hands.
To say that date was perfect would be an understatement.

Four years later found Brad, Shayla and I back together again but not in any way I would have guessed. It turns out Shayla had been shamelessly flirting that day. But not with Brad. When that she walked off from us on our date she had been feeling the same things I had been feeling in the chapel, wondering how [i]she[/i] could ever be good enough for someone like [i]me[/i]. Not long later she met Brooke and they have been together every since. Every weekend now we meet up at the park with our little ones. Who would have thought the girl I was so jealous of would become my best friend. I guess happily ever after really does happen.

I finally mustered up the courage to ask Roger out. I had spotted him in my restaurant several times and when he was about to leave, I made my move and was delighted when he said yes!

I asked my friend Brenda to do my hair and pick out an outfit for me; I was far too excited to make the decision myself! I reached the restaurant slightly early so I waited for him to come and ordered a cake in the meantime.

As minutes turned to hours, I couldn’t stop staring at the clock and realised I had been stood up. I know it’s unsightly to cry in the middle of a restaurant but the painful realisation that he would never come dawned upon me. Until [i]he[/i] came.

No, not Roger but [i]Wilbur[/i]. He was a stranger to me but when he saw me crying, he sat down opposite me and ordered some cupcakes,

‘You’ve been here for a while now and you haven’t eaten anything. Go ahead! They’re really nice!’

I just stared at him until all my pain and stress just flowed out of me, I vented my feelings, I described my predicament as well as insulting Roger a little…

Wilbur listened to me. He listened to me for the whole four hours that we were together giving reassurance like, ‘He doesn’t deserve you,’ and ‘He doesn’t know what he is missing’. I managed a smile; after all, nobody would usually give their attention to the blubbering, mascara-running fool that I was that night.

Recognise me? Yes I am the old woman in the old-fashioned apron… A lot of years went by and I married Wilbur. We had a child called Frederick who looked just like his father, ginger-haired, freckly and an extremely good listener. He has three children from his relationship: Yasmin (a feisty, but childish teenager), Raina (a gifted cook) and Henry (the sweetest toddler you will ever lay eyes on).

Ever since his girlfriend left him, Freddie moved in with us and we have helped to look after the children whilst he looks after the restaurant. Yasmin and Wilbur have a special relationship, as do I and Raina.

Raina looks exactly like me when I was her age, and she also faces the same problems that I did,

‘Grandma, the girls at school laugh at me because I’m fat. Does that mean nobody likes me?’

‘Of course not, Raina! Just look around! All these people around you, [i]love[/i] you. Your father, your brother, Grandpa, even your sister!’

‘But she teases me all the time as well!’

‘She just wants to make you a stronger person, and to stand up to those bullies! I’ll tell you a secret. You see that man over there?’

‘You mean Grandpa?’

‘Yes, when I was around the same age as your father, I really liked this man called Roger. But he never showed up for our date, but then the [i]real[/i] man of my dreams arrived!’

‘Grandpa!’ She exclaimed.

‘Yes, and I was just like you at that time. I still am. But he loved me for who I am. He told me I was beautiful no matter what size I was and you should think that about yourself too. You will find someone, my darling. And don’t you forget it!’

Raina was so reassured that day. I guess my happily ever after is watching my grandchildren grow up and become better people.

Cami: I'm so glad his HEA ended up with his unicorn! His head looks twisted at an awkward angle in that first picture - though I know that's a game issue as of late. Great job and good work getting to the finals!

Nikki: Another gorgeous entry. Had to read through it once or twice to take in the depth, but I loved it. Brad’s face in the second picture has me cracking up. Sadly it kind of draws the attention away from Maya. Congratulations for making it this far
Angie: Once again a magnificent entry! I love love love this, Maya and that (yummy yummy yummy) guy are suuuupah cute together, and the babiessss! THE BEBES. Gah! Loved this, great job! <3
